- Dr. K.K. Bansal navigates us through the various symptoms of Brain Tumor that can indicate need for diagnosis and busts some social misconceptions along with it. He commences by saying that anyone can have a brain tumor and age is not a factor for tumor formation. Be it at birth, later in childhood or adult life - anyone can develop a brain tumor anytime. The only difference is that the brain tumor is of different types in different ages. He then moves on to the major symptoms that can be indicative of a brain tumor. Waking up in the morning with headaches that aren't curable with medication and incite a vomiting tendency can be a big indicator. Often patients only feel relieved after vomiting and this keeps reoccurring.
The other major symptom includes loss of vision from both eyes or complete cutout of light from only one eye. Even disbalance while walking, shaky hands and legs that cause disbalance and picking up or moving targeted articles difficult can indicate brain tumor as the back of the brain is responsible for the balance. Those with epilepsy and fits are more susceptible to brain tumors than others although it might not be the case always. He debunks the myth that fits is caused because of ghosts or supernatural powers and says that it is actually a brain response which is very common with 2 people out of 16 experiencing it. He asks people to come out of the social taboos and visit a doctor if they experience fits that cause seizures and fainting as it can indicate brain tumor and needs further diagnosis. He wraps up the session by saying one should not be scared of diagnosis as early detection can help in the smooth treatment and faster results.
