Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble is a the worst casting decision I have ever seen. I agree with Ebert all these movies are duds. But I still love watching Siskel and Ebert review them. They made any movie worth discussing.
Unfortunately in Hollywood, if you have a high marquee value and a little bit of talent then no role is denied to you.
I agree with both comments. And I didn't think Rosie O donnell was a funny comedian or a smart take show host. definitely not an actress with range and a far lefty also.other then that she is great.
@@stevenclarke8773 The Casting of Fred, Barney and Wilma was spot on so I don't get how that decision was made. Maybe they couldn't get anybody else. Halle Berry would have been a much better choice in that role. Or Nicole Kidman or Sandra Bullock or....ANYONE!
@@ac9559 My theory has always been that Rosie was given that role because she could do the laugh Betty did in the show.
It seems like she was solely cast based on her hair color.
8:54 - The army recruits do a rap version of Hamlet by Shakespeare. Theo and Cockroach did that exact same gag on an episode of THE COSBY SHOW
Wow, lousy weekend of films back in 1994. Roger was right, "Short Cuts" is really the only thing worth watching.
Yeah 1994 was overall a great year for movies but some of the worst crap ever also popped in the mid 90's. Too much nostalgia and lazy story telling. Its also when we got that Brady Bunch movie and a bunch of other garbage.
I 💯% agreement
@@Shorty_Lickens The Brady Bunch Movie was watchable and self-aware, at least
@@WheresPoochie Im sorry but I couldnt stomach it. When it ran on HBO or Showtime or Cinemax I toughed it out for maybe half an hour and started feeling sick in my stomach. Had to quit. Its even worse than The Flintstones which also wasnt good.
Honestly, as a kid's movie, I enjoyed The Flintstones, and Rick Moranis was great as Barney Rubble.
I think they got this review right, I didnt even like this movie as a kid. It just survived on bringing the imagery of the cartoon to life.
As a kid, I enjoyed The Flintstones also, but to be honest even at 18 I still I think it's pretty good, not a masterpiece by no means, but it's got some Good things in it. Like....
* It's Fabulous Production Design
* It's Fabulous Costume Design
* John Goodman's good performance as Fred.
As for the bad things though, like Ebert mentioned, it's a little too adult to be a kids movie, and Rosie O'Donnell and Elizabeth Taylor weren't good in the movie. So overall, 3/5.
Like Flintstones cartoon but not the movie
@@Jbaxter85 That's understandable. But then again, that's pretty much always the same reaction that live-action cartoon adaptations get.
Did that movie inspire The Naked Cowboy?
I hate the Flinstones movie but it’s plot is directly from episodes of the show.
Cisco an iber, an iber es 🎶
En la weave, en la hair 🎶
All of these aren't worth watching 👎👎😤😤 except Short Cuts because I seen it & really liked it.
Most of these films go into my favorite category: "Fun, but not good".
Keanu Reeves as the Buddha, holy shit 😮
the st. crispin's day speech was great in renaissance man.
I have seen Little Buddha a long time ago
Renaissance Man is a horrible movie. I haven’t seen the others, nor do I want to.
My reviews: out of 5
1 " The Cowboy Way " 2 out of 5 👎
2 " Beverly Hills Cop 3 " 2 out of 5 👎
3 " Renaissance Man " 2 out of 5 👎
4 " The Flintstones " 1.5 out of 5 👎
5 " Little Buddha " 2.5 out of 5 👎
None of these are good 👎😡🤬
The first BHC wasn't that good anyway.
Says No One Ever
True
Flintstones was ok. The script was too old and wasted. Casted well and good sets but the script was 10 years too old. And BHC 3 had a good idea. It needed some more enenrgy and Eddie needed to be more like he was in 48 hours and trading places and distingushed gentleman. He had the right idea but it was so slow. Needed a lot more enenrgy and axel needed to be more of a smartass. Bad script and director doomed him in this one.
Damn, Gene loved The Little Buddha lol
He was a Keanu mark. But you know a lot of people always said he was wooden and not a good actor and he always defended him. And now everybody loves how Keanu plays characters. Especially in John wick where he hardly has to talk like cline Eastwood
Weird thing about the Flintstones movie: it was in development hell for so long, they were looking at John Belushi to play Fred!!
Of course, a lot of the humor was always about the "devices." Remember, they ALWAYS played the "Heh, it's a living!" gag in the old days. The production design was the whole purpose of the film, but clearly no one thought about who was most likely to see the film. Either your kids or longtime Flintstones fans looking for nostalgia. That ISN'T what the film became, and THAT made it disappointing.
To be fair: Most Flintstones episodes stories weren’t very kids orientated too. But they should’ve known better. The movie looks so expensive and interesting and the story is so depressing and makes all the characters come off as stupid and not very likeable. This should’ve been an easy job for Spielberg
The Cowboy Way 👎
Beverly Hills Cop 3 👎
Renaissance Man 👎
The Flinstones 👎
Little Buddha 👍
I agree
@@Jbaxter85 those 4 were very bad but little Buddha was a decent film enough to give it a moderate thumbs up for me
Agree entirely. The Flintstones could have been so good. John Goodman as Fred is perfect casting.
@@ac9559 the plot was ridiculous though but I agree Goodman was a good cast since he’s a great talented actor.
I saw Renaissance Man in high school and was bored crapless by it.
Betty was a smoke show. I’m not comfy being that guy talking about the attractiveness of any woman but…. Rosie O’Donnell as Betty rubble is one of the most insulting castings ever.
LOL, I always remembered these guys being grumpy nerds when I watched this as a kid. I guess they are "critics", but still they need to lighten up a bit. The Cowboy Way was a hilarious comedy, and wasn't meant to be a serious, dramatic movie. And the Flintstones was a kids movie! Lighten up guys!
It’s there opinion dude
The Cowboy way thumbs up, Beverly Hills cop 3. Thumbs down. Renaissance man, thumbs up. The flint stones, thumbs down and little Buddha, thumbs up, imho. Siskel and Ebert were a pair. I remember this show was a dud full of movies. Many of them were box office duds until Speed came out in june of 1994😊
Renaissance Man is a horrible movie, and I love it.
I have seen The Cowboy 🤠 Way. It's a good movie.
My cousin played the cab driver.
@@sha11235 Cool 😎 !
@@sha11235 I played the taxi 🚖 😉
@@Hellraiser0601 I am the walrus

These movies all stink.
Renaissance man is an excellent movie
