I think we have to be realistic here if you're asking me.
1. As for the issue of books, nobody really cares, that is the majority of people such as authors don't really care whether their books are downloaded even if they're copywrited simply because everybody does it. So there shouldn't be a harm in that, unless you try to make money out of it, in which case it's Haram no doubt according to all scholars. Some scholars say copyright doesn't apply, others say it applies in all cases, and others say it's only Haram regarding religious books.
Second, the greater issue is software since hardcopy books will be soled anyway, and they're not too expensive.
If one can for example afford microsoft then of course it's better to pay just to be on the safe side. But if one is forced to crack it due to the fact that he doesn't have enough money and he really needs that software, then there's nothing wrong Inshallah, although I follow the scholarly view that says copyright is Haram.
However the scholars who allow this sort of thing say that this can be done only for personal use, that is, you can't make money off it.
There are two other factors to consider.
1. Though all software has bugs, some cracked software may be more buggy because of the programs that are used to decompile the program and remove the trial component, then compile it once more.
2. By cracking software, you are in effect sideloding it, which means you won't be able to receive new feature and security updates.
3. Some crack websites put viruses in their cracks.
4. Because of the cracking, some enhancements you may have otherwise had had you not cracked it may not be available, so in effect you may get an inferior product.
This is why I am of the belief that all software should be open source, because you can't just ban cracking of software. The only way to fight it is to offer better quality, which we Muslimeen are able to do but unfortunately we don't put the effort to do so.

I’ll do it if the book is available at my Unis library but already rented out.
I have copyrighted books of size around 2 gb, what should I do know?😢
What if book is not available to buy or if I want it urgently and there's only physical copies and the delivery will take a lot of time? Can I download and pay that amount in charity on author's behalf?
I always wondered, did the scholars in their time ever charge people for their books for example books of tawheed or aqidah

I think 1 big issue here is, that we don´t know if as example the family of a scholar is receiving that royalty.
I mean mashaallah in Hadith science alone they can make out the family tree of scholars who lived hundreds of years ago. So what if there´s a company finding the family of a scholar and saying "look we gonna publish the book written by your great great great great great great great grandfather and we will give you 50% of all the revenue generated.".
Simply for the reason that we do not know the things happening behind closet curtains it´s easy to fall into haram without knowing it.
I personally would side here with the noble Sheikh Muhammad ibn Uthaymeen who said that if we download or in general if we take something copyrighted which was written or created in halal and we only and only use it to learn for ourselves and to increase our knowledge then inshaallah there should be no harm. But if we use it to generate money from or with that knowledge it´s haram and we have to buy the books or media in general.
But yeah this topic is really difficult to answer. Only Allah knows.
I think Sheikh does not understand “copyright”, “copyright” is a law in america, with roots in England. All creative works have copyright automatically attached to them under US law. Copyright protections around 95-120 years, after that a work is not longer protected by copyright. So classical works like those the Sheikh mentions are not protected by copyright law.
I think islamically it comes down to the Islamic rule of obeying the law of the land. I clicked this video to hear about that becuase i dont know too much but from my understanding Allah commands muslims to respect the law of the land they live in.
If we were in islamic countries though there is no such thing as copyright in islam
@@arifmunshi6833 Of course.. but the entire question is about "Copyright".. if someone is asking about "copyright" then I would assume its a person in english speaking country, although i'm actually sure several muslim countries have some form of copyright laws
