- After years in development, the adaptation of ND Stevenson's graphic novel Nimona is finally about to release on Netflix. The story follows a young shapeshifter named Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), who befriends the begrudging ex-knight Ballister Blackheart (Riz Ahmed) and becomes his sidekick. Outcasts from society, the pair of them work together to prove Blackheart's innocence after he was accused of murdering the queen, and in the process come to learn more about themselves and each other.
In this one-on-one interview with Collider's Arezou Amin, Stevenson talks about the experience of seeing his graphic novel adapted for the screen, and the challenges present in moving the story from one medium to another. He also reveals which moment in the film still takes him by surprise, and shares why the film works so well in animation.

I just finished the movie 10 minutes ago and I cant stop crying. I loved it. Thank you for creating this.
This girl has major issues.
Well done darling. If you dont cry in this story, you should grow a soul... This is vitally important.. please lend your voice.. Trans suicides are at 41%annually ... imagine you work, or your club or your movie house... and 41% of those ppl will be dead by end of year... next year... another 41%... and somehow.. it is not even worth a comment on the news.. and i am skipping the rapes and murders... Lend a voice, or be complicit
I'm complicit then.
Watch this the other day.Better than the stuff Disney/Pixar have churned out since the pandemic.Little bit controversial near the end.
I loved it
Haven’t watched it, but it seems like it’s pretty epic
I didn't know noelle Stevenson created nimona thank you ❤
just fyi he goes by ND (or possibly Nate? I'm unsure about if he uses both or just one, but his webcomic seems to use both)
@@courtneym75brother she's a woman not a man
@@yusufkurdi3582no. ND is non-binary and prefers he/him pronouns.
If you can’t respect that, his work is probably not for you.
@@DasTahu I respect her I don't care if she's a man or a woman
@@yusufkurdi3582f you respect him, use his chosen pronouns. It's pretty easy to do.
this is trash
The story is defined by undefinable characters, sure that makes sense…
There is nothing contradictory about that statement.
Still at it, I see lol
@adellis in other words characters that feel human. Who are you really ? Can you define yourself with a single characteristic? No. No one can and no one does.
Nimona has Characters that aren't one note. They have depth and character development.
@@User-LS-n5m Not a braincell to be found among you overly sensitive leftards.
@@luismedrano6680 Luis, I ended our interaction with my last message. Why do you like harassing people who are simply more intelligent than yourself? I was nice last time but now I'm telling you to piss off.
Why you referring to that lesbian as a man?
The animation is easily the best part about this movie.
So, I tried reading Nimona awhile back. Holy. Shit. It was so fucking boring.
Let me explain:
-The plot drags a lot.
-The humor was very hit or miss (mostly miss).
-The art is genuinely PAINFUL to look at.
-The story itself is VERY slow and boring.
Overall, the comic is overhyped, at best.
No
@@lyrapequala6129 Oh really?
@@lyrapequala6129Prove it.
Werent you the one whinging in another interview video about how you wouldn’t refer to ND Stevenson as anything but "she"? Seems like you got a bit of a hate obsession with him my dude. You should do some soul searching and consider why you're so pressed about trans people existing. Hope you get the therapy you need. Have a nice day. 😘
@@apizzathatgiantforthesimpl5191 My therapist killed himself, so that's out of the question. Besides, I don't respect Noelle Stevenson at all anymore.
