Stinging nettles used for natural coloring, we are not allowed to use chemicals and fake flavours so all sweets need to have natural flavoring sand coloring.
Got to admit, when you try American candy/ sweets you can really taste the food colouring, it's an ink taste. And the food is glowing. Kind of reminds me of the taste of the 80s
Memphis trying to get someone to feed her is the cutest thing ever but Oakley's ears on the edge of the table is also adorable. They are such cute girls.
Europe has strict standards on the use of artificial colors used in food. Tumeric (yellow and orange) stinging nettles (yellow and green) and those other ingredients are used to naturally color the food.
I've started something haven't I. But it is fun for us to see you guys trying our treats. After all you spend so much time editing, uploading etc. your great free vids.
Nettles have been used in food for thousands of years. Nettle soup is delicious and nutritious. It's probably the healthiest thing on Wine Gums, which are named after the decanter medallions the sweets are shaped like. sorry no wine :-D
Nettles are used to make a vegetarian gelling agent instead of using gelatine. Also its real chocolate on malteasers, the taste is different because in britain they dont use parafin in chocolate like in the u.s. (which is used to stop the chocolate melting on hot days)
I had to run down to Kroger after watching this to see what I could get from the "European Foods" section. IDK if there's one near you, but my favorite thing is the Mint Nestle Aero bar, followed closely by the Bounty bar. There is a whole entire British foods store not too far from me. I may need to hit them up for some goodies soon.
Dove is the US version of Galaxy. "Mal-teasers" are amazing! I think Meijer(??World Foods section)has them. They should also have Aero bars and Bounty(better than Almond Joy/Mounds)bars,too.
I think the stinging nettle would have been for colouring?? - In the UK artificial colours and flavours are pretty much banned by the EU, so they have to find natural alternatives
The UK bans around 200 food additives that are used in the US. The ones we do use, are not exactly a marketing aid. So most point use as few as possible and make that a selling point.
Point of order to hffp1. Marmite = meat extract, Vegimite = veg extract. Both are yeast extracts. My mum prefers Marmite and uses it for her tea but she Scotts. Vegimite, god knows why that was conceived. And yes real shortbread you have to make yourself for the real stuff. You will never buy the crap stuff at the store again.
Black/Purple sweets in the UK are usually blackcurrant flavour. Blackcurrant is kind of a hard flavour to place as its, well Blackcurrant. I would describe it as an earthy cross between cranberry and black cherry. Its a very common flavour in north west Europe.
Being British and watching you three trying to pronounce Walkers was so funny and difficult to watch as you carnt hear us say it the english way 😂 ps I know this vids old
As regards artificial flavours, there's a law in the UK about how you can describe a product. If its flavour is artificial, it is marketed as whatever-flavour, but if it's real it would be called whatever-flavoured. It's a subtle but legally important difference.
First time I've ever heard someone pronounce Maltesers like you guys did! It's pronounced mal-teasers. Something like that anyway, I'm not the best at explaining :)
The wine gums aren't actually wine flavoured, they're just themed around wine for some reason. I don't think anyone knows why! By the way, your dogs are beautiful!
I love jelly babies ^-^ (I live in the UK btw c:) and I didny actually know our sweets had stinging nettles in! Maybe I should read the packets more.....
+Annamarie Amendolara basically a plant that when you touch it, it "stings you" it doesn't really sting you, it just gives you that stinging feeling, it just injects irritants into you, it's not nice especially as a kid
+Annamarie Amendolara it is, I guess you don't have them where you live but they are everywhere in England, I have a lot of memories of being stung by them as a kid xD
What you call biscuits in the US, we don't really have in the UK. The starch side with British meals is almost always potatoes. It is possible to find cornmeal or maize flour, but people don't know what to do with it.
I prefer Bovril. One teaspoon of it, add pepper and hot water. And you have a nice beefy drink. Also, why don't you the dogs chocolate? Will it make them go hyper?
I'm British and can assure you that many Brits don't know what Marmite is about either. It's true that it's either loved or hated. I hate it, and wouldn't dream of giving it to you.
I'm always the kid in my family who eats the black jelly babies because no one else likes them... I prefer Cadbury over Galaxy because Galaxy is waaaaay so sickly for me!

+Jordan Randell-Tredgett That's great!

+BRMBug Yeah, no Kroger for about 200 miles. . .
I'll have to find those bars & send them to you, then.
I love watching people from different countries try our food and pronounce the names wrong, it's so funny to me 😂
hahahah right!
First time I seen these videos and I like them .live the dogs but nice seeing you guys enjoying yourselves
Dove is the US version of Galaxy. "Mal-teasers" are amazing! I think Meijer(??World Foods section)has them. They should also have Aero bars and Bounty(better than Almond Joy/Mounds)bars,too.
Stinging nettle is very good for you it can be made as a tea and is a diuretic . You needed way more marmite and proper butter on that toast .
+Lesley Huckerby No that's okay . I will use Jelly
Malteasers are so good. £ is the symbol for the British pound. The word pound and the symbol is a leftover from Roman Britain meaning pound of gold
Nowhere NEAR enough Marmite on the toast!! :P Great vid though :)
+TheAmishGamer :)
Love seeing your reactions to our sweets and food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Carley Price Thanks!

+cutex24 Yup tht is wht we have found out!
The UK bans around 200 food additives that are used in the US. The ones we do use, are not exactly a marketing aid. So most point use as few as possible and make that a selling point.

Marmite has no meat extract, it's vegetarian. Bovril does though.
Ah your right. My mum has Bovril in her tea. Still think it's strange.
+2DogsVlogs Both of them are too weird for me
+2DogsVlogs I don't think I've heard of bovril in tea before. I'm one of those weird English people who don't like tea but I do love marmite :-)
I hate marmite and I'm from Scotland
Being British and watching these are strange but I still love them
Poached egg on marmite toast is amazing!
Nice video 😀👍
Those puppies were so patient.

+Lolsssssss heheheh
Walkers [crisps/potato chips] is pronounced "Warkers" in the UK.
Maltesers is pronounced: Malt-ease-ers.
I love your channel.. You are so good w/ your dogs..
Being British and watching you three trying to pronounce Walkers was so funny and difficult to watch as you carnt hear us say it the english way 😂 ps I know this vids old

once a nettle is boiled the sting is no more and it makes a vegetarian gellatin
cotton or silk referes to the level of smootness
Chocolate in UK is made with whole milk not powder to make it creamier and smoother.
Woohoo Britain! Gotta love a bit of stinging nettle in your wine gum XD I love jelly babies and galaxy
+WelshWhiteWolf91 heheh
Opens a bag of candy called WINE gums and expects the flavour to be banana, drink a lot of banana wine do we? :S
Stinging nettle actually tastes really good. Stinging nettle soup is amazing.
+Grimoires Really?
Yeah! I used to eat it all the time as a kid. Then again i am british, so idk, maybe stinging nettles is just a british thing.

+Annamarie Amendolara basically a plant that when you touch it, it "stings you" it doesn't really sting you, it just gives you that stinging feeling, it just injects irritants into you, it's not nice especially as a kid
Thank you for answering! I honestly have never heard of that before. I can imagine. It sounds extremely unpleasant :/
+Annamarie Amendolara it is, I guess you don't have them where you live but they are everywhere in England, I have a lot of memories of being stung by them as a kid xD
+ChemicalScenceVLOGS They were pretty good!
the wine gums have natural colourings and flavourings, the turmeric and nettles will be for colour I assume
+Mich W They are pretty good!
It's a metaphor. "Why have ordinary chocolate (cotton), when you can have luxury chocolate (silk)".

+Patrick Holt Yes we do they are called savoury scones.
+Jim Gallagher Never heard of it.
+Patrick Holt
What? You don''t use normal wheat flour for cookies in the UK?? I don't belive that.
Sven Ekeberg I wasn't talking about cookies. I was talking about that which is not cookies that Americans use the word biscuit to talk about.
Patrick Holt

In The Walking Dead they call the dead. Walkers

The phrase on the galaxy why would you have cotton then silk it men why have a rough chocolate well u can have a smooth galaxy bar
In the UK we call what people in the US call chips, crisps. We call fires chips.
Poor Jamie, his brain broke when he say the stinging nettle as an ingredient.
The dog sitting up at the table sniffing all the food is making me super anxious. :(
I prefer Bovril. One teaspoon of it, add pepper and hot water. And you have a nice beefy drink. Also, why don't you the dogs chocolate? Will it make them go hyper?
You should not give any chocolate to dogs because it's bad for them it makes them really sick
Oh.
ya
I'm British and can assure you that many Brits don't know what Marmite is about either. It's true that it's either loved or hated. I hate it, and wouldn't dream of giving it to you.
