Something I love about Apex of the World is that it mixes the themes connected to Sothis and Edelgard together. In Chapter 18 of Crimson Flower, the incarnation of Sothis stands side by side with Edelgard, so the track using songs tied to them hits so hard
It can’t be overstated how impactful Funeral’s Thunder version being quieter is in game. Normally Thunder makes the combat animations feel energetic, but here it makes everything feel muted and sad.
If someone listened to funeral of flowers without knowing it was fire emblem track I'd bet people could be fooled into thinking it was a souls born track. It holds a similar dread/emotional vibes similar to gywn's and sif's themes but a tad bit more uplifting at moments

"Apex of the World" is definitely one of my big emotional favorites in this soundtrack. Blue Lions' storyline is one of few moments in recent gaming history that actually made me tear up at the end... This entire soundtrack is just fantastic!
Dear god, yes. I honestly cannot recommend enough that the first run people do of FE:3H be Blue Lions, because it does Edelgard’s reveal so much better than the other routes.
the game in general made me cry a lot (I've only beat BLs so far) like the whole way through the route i was really emotional there were a lot of parts of the route that hit me really hard but honestly apex of the world was too catchy for me and i spent too long on the fight that it went from emotional to banger that i was singing along to while playing hahaha
A star in the Morning Sky is my favorite track in the whole game. When the Fire Emblem main theme started playing, man, I cried a lot. It felt so emotional to me.
The final boss map themes are all so great. Apex of the World does an amazing job, at bringing the main theme full circle. God Shattering Star is just so unique, with its chaotic melodies and the tenor vocals. Then there’s the amazing cello and piano playing in Funeral of Flowers, which really fits the tragic nature of where it plays.
It's interesting how the only one that really sounds triumphant is God Shattering Star. The other two convey how bittersweet the "victories" at the end of those other three routes are. GSS has the benefit of coming two chapters AFTER the bittersweet confrontation. Nobody feels bad about stopping Those Who Rave in the Dark.
So mad that I’ve actually never heard Funeral of Flowers cuz I only played Golden Deer and thought Apex of the World was the final theme for the other houses. ITS SO GOOD I CANT BELIEVE I MISSED OUT THIS WHOLE TIME
That's the beauty of 3 houses. You need to play all 4 routes for the best experience. Though I can't stomach a second playthrough of CF... it hurts too much.

I think it's hard to say anything in three houses is better then " don't speak her name", that song is an incredible progression of emotions that directly mirror the narrative nearly perfectly and is an exceptionally out together piece in a way that's hard to explain in this format. But yea I love funeral of flowers it's really quite good

I believe that "a place to rest" is the song that plays when your Byleth S ranks someone, its the last thing you do in the game. The song after "A star in the morning sky" plays during the unit summary just before the credits. Not sure how familiar you are with fire emblem as a series but the unit summary is a part where you see all the names and faces of the characters you used as units in battle (edelgard, your own character, dimitri, Claude, etc.) And it gives you their win:loss ratios, times they were MVP in maps, as well as their own epilogue that tells you what they decided to do after the end of the games story. These epilogues can be paired or solo, and while paired epilogues usually denote romance typically they dont always have to be (shout out to felix and sylvain, buried 6 feet apart because they werent gay)
Since you heard the Apex of the World Warriors version of the theme, you should also listen to Melody of Clarity. That final boss theme in Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes is amazing
SPOILERS FOR VERDANT WIND (MAYBE...?) An interesting thing to note in the final battle is that Nemesis is mostly likely to be the one singing God Shattering Star. To further prove my point, when engaging him in battle (Thunder), the singing stops since we are disturbing him.
apex of the world is probably rhea, at least referential wise because that's go back to the OG fight between her and nemesis where Rhéa spread propaganda about Némésis and this one in turn sung a propaganda song too. in my opinion the miror effect between the two songs is intentional.

I also was in sheer awe over this one. Holy sh***... After lots of listening I came to my conclusion, that this wholeheartedly can acclaim to be a modern classic masterpiece like some of the brilliant pieces written over a hungred years ago.
The “A Funeral of Flowers (Thunder)” is the most underrated out of the 3 final end game themes (4 if At What Cost counts since it’s dlc). The rain one is great, but remember that Thunder playes in combat phase. Whenever it shifts to the thunder version, it just feel so ghastly and chilling and emotional given the situation in that game. Also Apex is the best imo.
I could be wrong, but from what I've heard (I only recently got Three Houses and haven't reached the map it plays on yet), A Funeral of Flowers is the only song to play the thunder version for the map and rain version for combat instead of how every other song does it. I could be wrong about that since, again, I'm just going off stuff I've read elsewhere, but if it's true then I think it's a pretty neat detail if it plays for the route I think it plays for.

I have such a love-hate relationship with FE:3H's OST. Love in that I absolutely adore it, and hate in that I cannot listen to anything that is supposed to be about Edelgard's story without crying (Edge of Dawn, Apex of the World, A World For Humanity, The Color of Sunrise)

I’ll be honest, I don’t get the connection with the ascending notes in A New Dawn around like 52:00 to the Edge of Dawn Theme. There have actually been quite a few things I haven’t quite gotten in these FE3H vods, which I find disappointing given my years of quality piano and choir/voice lesson experience, but I guess I kind of already knew that for a musician, I’m not the strongest with how I consciously process sound. Maybe I just wasn’t following the explanation or something.
Apex of the World: using Lysithea, Linhardt, Hapi, and Manuela to warp Byleth, Bernie, Edelgard, and Ferdinand to assassinate the dragon Okay I forgot to mention using dark flier Constance to rescue Jeritza over the wall to kill everything around him
God Shattering Star was hyped up by so many people that it kind of ruined it for me. Even still it probably wouldn't be in my top 5 tracks in the OST, but I definitely would've at least enjoyed it more since it is definitely not bad. Also, I actually prefer the Thunder version of God Shattering Star, though I acknowledge that the Rain version may seem more impressive with the vocals and such. These are probably both unpopular opinions, but to each their own. On a different note, I am pretty confident that the section you questioned if it was hemiola or not was still in compound duple meter, just syncopated.
The inferno mix: for when you're freeing humanity from a thousand years of lies, through a struggle built on countless sacrfices, and the vanilla soundtrack just doesn't slap hard enough.
When I see all the simping for Edelgarde, my gut reaction is that they played through Crimson Flower first and likely didn't play through Silver Snow, or at least didn't pay attention. Silver Snow, reinforced by Verdant Wind, objectively proves that Edelgard is a stubborn, foolhardy, blind idiot who can't turn from her recklessly pointless path, even if Byleth were to confront her about her idiocy before things get violent (which is something I sorely wanted to do, but the game wasn't written to allow for that). She blames Rhea/the Church for things that actually have nothing to do with them, and her "solution" to her "problem" will only shift it somewhere else (nature abhors a vacuum), because she is treating a symptom without knowing or caring about the root of the issue (which is humanity's base nature, not Rhea or the Church). While I generally like 3H, there are some genuinely dumb moments like that in the writing of each path that pull it down a little in order to force a specific narrative in each path, even if there is an obvious other way (Blue Lions ending abruptly and ignoring all the Slither in the Dark plot threads, Rhea suddenly going nutso for no apparent reason other than to force a tragic boss fight against her to multiply her already exceedingly tragic story, etc). My favorite path was Verdant Wind because it was the least dumb as far as I can remember and had the most satisfying conclusion and boss battle. After starting with Azure Moon and following it up with Verdant Wind, when I tried to play through Crimson Flower before going to Silver Snow, I just couldn't continue past the first Crimson Flower mission, because after knowing the previous two paths, Edelgarde's plan and motivations for it became clearly pointless and misguided at best, and perpetuating humanity's inborn cycle of evil at worst by destroying the only force trying to bring forth the good qualities in humanity. Edelgarde is just repeating the evils of Nemesis all over again, just with different vocabulary. My original plan was for Byleth to romance Edelgarde in Crimson Flower, but after witnessing her dumbass plan and reasons for said plan, I dropped it immediately.
So you realized that most Edelgard haters don't pay attention to the plot and decided that you can just twist things the other way? Most critique points towards Edelgard are disproven once you pay attention to the game. Yours are no different. You even admitted yourself that you did not play Crimson Flower. If you cannot pay attention to the game or do not want to play it, then at least do not be a hypocrite about it and know that you are not in a position to discuss the plot details.

I have such a love-hate relationship with FE:3H's OST. Love in that I absolutely adore it, and hate in that I cannot listen to anything that is supposed to be about Edelgard's story without crying (Edge of Dawn, Apex of the World, A World For Humanity, The Color of Sunrise)
We need him to listen to the vocal cover of God Shattering Star by Man on the Internet at the end of Part 5. It is my favorite Three Houses cover period.

I’ll be honest, I don’t get the connection with the ascending notes in A New Dawn around like 52:00 to the Edge of Dawn Theme. There have actually been quite a few things I haven’t quite gotten in these FE3H vods, which I find disappointing given my years of quality piano and choir/voice lesson experience, but I guess I kind of already knew that for a musician, I’m not the strongest with how I consciously process sound. Maybe I just wasn’t following the explanation or something.

God Shattering Star was hyped up by so many people that it kind of ruined it for me. Even still it probably wouldn't be in my top 5 tracks in the OST, but I definitely would've at least enjoyed it more since it is definitely not bad.
Also, I actually prefer the Thunder version of God Shattering Star, though I acknowledge that the Rain version may seem more impressive with the vocals and such.
These are probably both unpopular opinions, but to each their own.
On a different note, I am pretty confident that the section you questioned if it was hemiola or not was still in compound duple meter, just syncopated.

The inferno mix: for when you're freeing humanity from a thousand years of lies, through a struggle built on countless sacrfices, and the vanilla soundtrack just doesn't slap hard enough.
For me, it's finally bringing vengeance against those who have ruined countless lives by driving the people to war with each other from the shadows.
Would've been nice to also have a thumbnail with Claude on it.

If you look carefully Claude actually is on the thumbnail, at the front of all the archers. But still I agree he should have been the main focus.
When I see all the simping for Edelgarde, my gut reaction is that they played through Crimson Flower first and likely didn't play through Silver Snow, or at least didn't pay attention. Silver Snow, reinforced by Verdant Wind, objectively proves that Edelgard is a stubborn, foolhardy, blind idiot who can't turn from her recklessly pointless path, even if Byleth were to confront her about her idiocy before things get violent (which is something I sorely wanted to do, but the game wasn't written to allow for that). She blames Rhea/the Church for things that actually have nothing to do with them, and her "solution" to her "problem" will only shift it somewhere else (nature abhors a vacuum), because she is treating a symptom without knowing or caring about the root of the issue (which is humanity's base nature, not Rhea or the Church). While I generally like 3H, there are some genuinely dumb moments like that in the writing of each path that pull it down a little in order to force a specific narrative in each path, even if there is an obvious other way (Blue Lions ending abruptly and ignoring all the Slither in the Dark plot threads, Rhea suddenly going nutso for no apparent reason other than to force a tragic boss fight against her to multiply her already exceedingly tragic story, etc). My favorite path was Verdant Wind because it was the least dumb as far as I can remember and had the most satisfying conclusion and boss battle.
After starting with Azure Moon and following it up with Verdant Wind, when I tried to play through Crimson Flower before going to Silver Snow, I just couldn't continue past the first Crimson Flower mission, because after knowing the previous two paths, Edelgarde's plan and motivations for it became clearly pointless and misguided at best, and perpetuating humanity's inborn cycle of evil at worst by destroying the only force trying to bring forth the good qualities in humanity. Edelgarde is just repeating the evils of Nemesis all over again, just with different vocabulary. My original plan was for Byleth to romance Edelgarde in Crimson Flower, but after witnessing her dumbass plan and reasons for said plan, I dropped it immediately.
So you realized that most Edelgard haters don't pay attention to the plot and decided that you can just twist things the other way? Most critique points towards Edelgard are disproven once you pay attention to the game. Yours are no different.
You even admitted yourself that you did not play Crimson Flower. If you cannot pay attention to the game or do not want to play it, then at least do not be a hypocrite about it and know that you are not in a position to discuss the plot details.
