I know 3 people that the cops let go while drunk driving, and all 3 went back to get their car. 2 got caught again, and one got lucky. As a retired Police officer, DUI enforcement trained and the victim of having had my first wife KILLED by a DUI driver. I am saddened in seeing the shoddy response of the DA who is more interested in Politics than in Justice in this and other cases before this. The officer clearly ONLY shot the perpetrator after the escapee turned and fired the TASER at the officer. The officer is doing what is right in defending himself, to go home at the end of the day. I was a monthly speaker for Remove Intoxicated Drivers, in Florida. Drunk drivers can never be allowed behind the wheel of a car, They are never taken home (not a taxi), and never allowed to let a drunken person walk away (into traffic). I don't want to hear the community is hurting, the Community should be learning from this and not drive a vehicle after having consumed alcohol or using drugs of any kinds. The Community is in danger from drunk drivers, just like the rest of us.

As a retired Police officer, DUI enforcement trained and the victim of having had my first wife KILLED by a DUI driver. I am saddened in seeing the shoddy response of the DA who is more interested in Politics than in Justice in this and other cases before this. The officer clearly ONLY shot the perpetrator after the escapee turned and fired the TASER at the officer. The officer is doing what is right in defending himself, to go home at the end of the day. I was a monthly speaker for Remove Intoxicated Drivers, in Florida. Drunk drivers can never be allowed behind the wheel of a car, They are never taken home (not a taxi), and never allowed to let a drunken person walk away (into traffic). I don't want to hear the community is hurting, the Community should be learning from this and not drive a vehicle after having consumed alcohol or using drugs of any kinds. The Community is in danger from drunk drivers, just like the rest of us.
