wow brings back memories. Growing up in the
70's is so incredibly different from growing up today.
Wow -- thanks, everyone, for the positive comments -- and especially to the archivists who shared the clips. My dad (Stan Worth -- who died back in 1980) wrote the music for these along with the creators of the series, and my sister and I helped with the soundtrack. He also wrote the music for George of the Jungle, Super Chicken, Tom Slick, and other great stuff!
Your father was Stan Worth? If you read this message, please respond, because I have a question for you.
@@PRPLPEEPL Hi!! So nice to hear from you. Your father's name appears on the video case of a quad tape purporting to contain an episode of Captain Kangaroo. It seems that he was given this copy, or he ordered it for his collection. Did he have other Captain tapes in his collection?
This song was part of my childhood everyday! Wow! Thank you so much for the memories.
...and I remember every single word OMG. I have a knack for jingles :-)
"When you run out, run out to _White Hen (Pantry)_
When you run out of anything, run out to _White Hen_
When you run out
Run out to..."
"Hungry- _Hungry Jack (Pancake Mix)_!
Ya' gobble 'em down, and the plate comes back for _Hungry Jack_!"
"When you're thinkin' _Lincoln-Lincoln_
Better carpeting, for less
Call National- 2- Nine thousand
National- 2 Nine (phone ringing) thousand..."
That's just a small taste of all the old stuff from TV commercials that is *stuck* in my head! There are lot's of things that I've heard only *ONCE* (from television or just daily life) that I still recall _years_ later, but anything that I've heard _more than once_ usually becomes part of my memory and I can't get rid of it. I might loose it for a while, but it's still in there, somewhere.
*"Make sure you don't blow it*
*And make sure they know it*
*You'll mind very much if they smoke...*
*_It's a matter of life and breath._**"* (from _The American Lung Association_")
(This one isn't so bad. I have _Asthma_, so second hand smoke really *IS* a matter of life and breath for me.)
I can just call up examples like that at will, but often I find myself hearing this stuff because of some thought of something totally unrelated , or hearing something that mentions a word or phrase and - CLICK -
"If you love, love yogurt
and you're crazy 'bout fruit
Get some _Breyers Yogurt_
Take the quickest route
Straight to the bottom of _Breyers_
Full of fruit yogurt...
Strawberry
Raspberry
Blueberry
Peach
So many fruity flavors
Waitin' to be reached
Ooh, Breyers got 'em
That fruity, fruity Breyers
Full of fruit yogurt"
I guess it's not so out of control for you, huh? Because I get *very weary* of it, sometimes...
+themirrorsofmymind whoa...that's just a lot of jingles. Well, do you remember the theme for the opening of Wonder Woman...hahaha enjoy your weekend!
ME TOO. WATCH OLD tom and jerry's and see what you remember
+Re Lief :-)
My wife just sang along with every word, too!
I love it! I began singing this song (Oops, you made a mistake that's all) to my daughter who is a perfectionist and needs to let mistakes happen. I found this and showed her because I couldn't remember all of the words. She loves it, and so do I! It brings back so many childhood memories!!!!!
Omg!!!!! I've had that song in my head for decades!!! I am elated to see this again!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Been trying to find these videos for the past 3 years. Someone finally messaged me yesterday & told me! So happy to have found it! It aired on WPIX 11 Alive in the 70's! I truly loved & missed this!
DeaconDeZ - Wow, that's right, I can still hear the 11 Alive jingle in my head (the melody is there, but lyrics are sketchy). Anyone remember the "TV Pix" video game call in show??
finster1968 I remember the call in video game segment. Thank you for reminding me. I forgot about that! Great memories!
Desmond Warren - glad to stir the memories! I remember they used to show the day's "TV Pix pal" during commercial breaks. If the caller correctly identified the pal when they were selected for the video game, they would get an extra prize. You had to say "Pix!" to to fire or shoot during game play.
The good days!
Me too. I remember these as well as TV Pix in the afternoons. You also had to watch in the morning for the word of the day to win a skate party or something.
Any time, glad they're being enjoyed!
I had a bike like the one seen here when I was a kid in the early 70's, with the banana seat & long handlebars. You don't see those anymore.
The beauty of my childhood was so beautiful
I remember seeing this on channel 43 at 7am before the cartoon medley began at 8:00am. This made it hard to get dressed in the mornings. So many good cartoons! It would be 8:15 and I would still be in my jammies. Ahhh. Childhood.
They don't make these cartoons anymore...Miss this a ton.
Wow, such memories! When i was a little girl I would spill, drop and break things because I had poor vision. But my mom would yell at me, call me a clutz and kids would laugh at me! This cartoon actually helped cheer me up and gave me some perspective! Ooops, I made a mistake- that's all! :)
I explained to my grandson that we all make mistakes and that we're not perfect. He got the message loud and clear, and doesn't make a big deal of it anymore. I couldn't be prouder of him for getting this message.
I searched for this because it was so great to me as a kid.
The animation is sentient, the production values are maximized,
the lesson is so powerful.
It's always going to be one of the BEST things I've ever seen.
So There.
I'm 24 and this is helping me with my self-esteem right now. Haha. I wish I had seen this stuff when I was a child.
I've had this song in my head for 30 years! What a flashback, thanks!
I remember these shows would come on everyday in the afternoon
At 4.30 pm
After school these shows remind me of my long lost friend Greg
Gautier he was my first boy crush at 8 years old I kissed him in the attic of my house on my birthday
I love him and miss him so much
The one I remember most was the space one, where there was a target in the center of the screen, and when a spaceship was in the target, you said "PIX!" and a laser would fire. I remember one kid just completely spazzing out screaming PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX PIX and getting like 40 points.
Omg I remember this commercial in the early 70s. I'm 52yrs old 2021 now ...This is like watching me at there age what a trip...
Awwwww I love 70's TV!
OMG!!!!!! I just laughed and cried at the same time out of pure joy!!!!!! REMEMBER THIS????!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Does anyone remember when the little girl goes to the toy shop and sees a doll with a sad face, then when she leaves the store the doll starts dancing and the song is about the joints in the body? The song was called "You've got Joints, you've got crazy joints."
Actually, when I was growing up, it was also on WPIX Channel 11 in New York, right after "Wacky Races, Josie and the Pussycats, etc." Thanks for the memories.
Thank you so much for posting this.
TV program's back then had more meaning and
care then today's TV program's.
Okay, maybe it was sappy, but they tried to help us understand life. I mean, at least they tried. Nowadays it's all snarky comebacks.
SweetSweetWaldo Agreed. And these show sure diverse kids, all races, the chubby kid spilling the water...it's so adorable and pure, like, "Life can be hard, kids, but you can do it!" So cute.
GOD BLESS RUclips!!!! AND BLESS YOU TOONORMA!!!!! I had forgotten all of these cartoons until my boyfriend brought this song up!
i have had this theme song stuck in my head for the past 35 years lol. finally i found where i got it from. thanks
Ha! These are a RUclips wish come true for me..! I used to check all the time for these cartoons last year. Thanks so much for these. What a nice surprise.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting this! I too sing this song to this day when something happens and think I'm a better person for it!!! Yayyyy!!!!
@PastYourEyesed - This IS great stuff. Hope you're still at it. This stuff taught me A LOT as a kid growing up in the 70s. My condolences to you for your loss, but know that your dad's work made a HUGE impact and his work IS remarkable and fabulous. I'll show this to my grand kids someday. This is great stuff :)
I love this one.
i used to watch this on WKBW as well!!
Commander Tom....wow! talk about going back
thanks!
I remember this one vividly! Great childhood memories
OMG, I have not seen this in ages!!! This is truly 'ol school!!!
Thanks for posting! I remember these on UHF channel 32 in Chicago. They definitely stuck in my head too -- I am so glad to see them again. However, in my memory the song was a lot faster for some reason.
Yes! So true gio512. For 35 years a little voice in my head has been singing 'Whoops! I made a mistake, that's all...' any time I spilled something. Insidious! It's weird how the memories of images like this never really faded after all. They've just been waiting all this time to be reaccessed.
Love it ! I know this one by heart and it has to have been 35ish years since I have seen it.
fun times 70's, it's fun to learn!!!
Incredible how longs it's been.
Classic,
Thanks. :)
Yes Yes Yes I love this cartoon b'cuz i remember watching it on WKBS CHANNEL 48 when the network was still on the air back in the late 70's to the early 80's yes yes yes ooops you made a mistake clip that interest me back there, but now the networks now off the air but the most importany person cartoon lives on thanks for posting it.
Watching this is like stepping into a time machine and going back to the summers of my childhood in the early-mid 70's-wonderful memories.
I remember this when I was a kid. This used to come on channel 5 every Sunday in Cleveland.
I felt so sorry for these kids. I felt their pain.
LOL!! Memories of growing up in north Jersey in the late 70s!
These were great!!!!
48 turns to 8..thanks for posting
How can I forget this was my childhood memories things were simple then and happy. Today electronic devices mold our society into ruin. I miss the old days of learning and loving our friends, family and neighbors, and this inspired that...
oh my gosh. thank you. i never thought i'd ever see this again :)
Bill Maher on HBO's "Real Time" brought me here!
You and me both, man. :-)
+Steven Duffy Ditto.
yep
Steven Duffy my teacher brought me here
Mistakes are learning opportunities.
I remember these. I think this one was my all time favorite. I used to stack blocks so high that they would topple. That used to make me laugh. But it would upset me if one of my cousins came over and intentionally wrecked a building I made though. But that chunky kid was really just crying over spilt milk.
Thanks, glad to know my remarks are taken in the spirit in which they're intended (especially in the cold text of the internet). Well, maybe you don't need to feel THAT old. These shorts did air for a number of years after they were first produced, so that buys you some time...
I agree with everyone else, this is great!
Amazing the quality of the audio and video after 37 years! It's held up amazingly well.
Loved this series as a kiddie!!😃
I used to watch this on WFLD too OMG! Like when I was 6 or 7.
This reminds so much of when I lived at Armitage and Seminary across from St Theresa Church.
Wow, can't believe I found this odd memory from the corner of my mind.
The grandfather of the fail vids.
I love how the block tower starts trembling before going full nuclear and flashing radiation all over. Most kids know you can't stack a rectangle on top of two pyramids.
oh wow I remember this!
Do you remember that game thing where you called in to WPIX and would play a video game over the telephone on TV?
I also remember that they were originally shown on Captain Kangaroo in the early 70's.
This was used by the oddity archive.
Really rare and very cool original posters for Most Important Person, new old stock, on Etsy.com. The shop on Etsy is called ThatToddFellow. LOTS of them, never been out of the wraps until now. 24 x 36 and ready for framing!
These are GREAT! If anyone can find A Time for Joya/Joya's Funschool please post!
@cubdukat Channel 11 use to show this in 1980 early 81 in the afternoon. i remember they cut the song on WTTW right b4 up and Coming.
This one made me laugh when I was a kid .
I have a hunch this might be the very first episode. Is it? Originally these segments aired as part of CAPTAIN KANGAROO.
Maybe should be the next SNL cold opening skit. Have Baldwin play himself.
Sherman gets OWNED at 1:59!
Played them at assemblies in elementary school.
Back when Chicago TV was so damn good....WFLD TV channel 32...
WTTW-Channel 11 definitely did show them at one point. I am not sure of the exact years, but it was while WFLD was still showing them, but several years after WFLD had started airing them (late 70s?). WTTW would cut off most of the opening song, leaving only the segment title, and replaced the end title sequence with a generic slide (white text on a black background) with the same info plus a small illustration of Hairy sliding down the rope). Why in the world do I remember this?
Who's here because of Oddity Archive? I remember seeing this when I was a kid. Looking at this again, the only thing I could possibly deduce from the first kid is she ripped the picture by accident, because how much of a doorknob could you be (even at that age) to just cut right through the head? It's not like she drew a sideways open mouth and was trying to cut into it or something.
Hey! How cool is this!?! My brother was one of the little kids that appeared in quite a few of the 66 "episodes" (at least that's the number at IMDB)- any chance you'll be posting more of these gems? (Of course, little bro - now 40 - isn't in any of the ones I've found so far). Ah, what a lot of fun memories of trying to catch these on Captain Kangaroo (Channel 2 in Los Angeles), and racing to make it to school on time... Mahalo nui loa for the memories!
I like how the kid looked into the glass. "What happened?"
Oh i spilled milk on the floor now the world is going to end!
Most of these kids are grandparents now lol
In New York, "TMIP" aired on WPIX (Ch. 11) around the late 1970's/early '80's, if a cartoon show ended before the 28-minute limit (or 58 minutes, if an hour show).
On another tangent - you suppose the title of this installment could've been an inspiration for that of a certain Britney Spears record . . . ?
"...'cause I really tried..!"
You have to be smarter than the milk.
Well. At least now I know why they had their own water fountains.
We had this and Schoolhouse Rock and kids today have Baby Shark.
I'm not going to judge. I'm just going to leave that there.
Respect
The figure I keep reading is 66. However, I am not sure if that refers to just "The Most Important Person" or both "MIP" and "The Kingdom Of Could Be You" combined (I know there are 16 of the latter). I don't have a list. If there's a reliable complete one out there, I'd love to see it.
OMG IM DYING I THINK IMMA EXPLODE OMG
That doesn't mean you should beat yourself up about it.
I’m 25 why do I remember things
Does anyone know the lyrics of the third line of the opening theme? I can never make out the part that comes after "Come on, we'll show you".
Dont cry over spilled milk, I'm suprised they didn't exploit that.
That's my mom cutting with scissors :]
This i never seen this on cable in the Philippines
Nope! I never got to play. Oh well. :-)
@Mkone123 I'm also here because of Kevin Smith. lol
tell that to the outfit when you slip up.muliac
@3:22 is this how Captain Caveman started?
mu teacher show us this
Do you have #3223 ("Different Kinds Of Love")
Git tears in my eyes n a mile wide smile on my face listening...
I sing this to my wife all the time. Tonight, I finally proved to her that its a real song!!! Thank you!
God I partially forgot all about this show!! I was like 4 when this was on.
Wow these take me back. They're really kind of bad but they're sincere and the nostalgia appeal is certainly there. I think they could still work for 4-6 year-old kids today.
OMG!!!!!! I was looking for this song for years! takes me back to when I was just a baby!!!! great memories
