I will never get the hate for this song. It's absolutely amazing. Even leaving aside the lyrics, which are some of James's best poetry ever, the instrumentation is just gorgeous.
Couldn’t agree more my dude. One of their most underrated songs from top to bottom. It grooves, it’s heavy af, and you are absolutely right about the lyrics. Some of Papa Het’s finest writing. You can tell this one was coming from a super dark place.

I've had a strange love/hate relationship with this song for some odd reason. Loved it when I first heard, then hated it for a few years, and have grown to absolutely love it even more than I did before. Might have to do with the fact that I've grown as a musician and appreciate the instrumentation and lyrics a lot more now? Whatever the reason, it's now one of my all time favorite Metallica song

The first song reminds me of my dad and when we would listen to Metallica when I was a kid. :( I never wanted to listen to the others because I don’t know if he’s ever listened to them.
Was on a long drive and thought what the heck…best decision because wow. Beautiful. I cried. Somewhat glad I waited, I don’t think I would’ve appreciated the lyrics if I’d listen to the song when I was younger.
