    Here's an idea,don't over tighten the bloody things and you won't have any marks.I have these clamps and they have never left a mark.

      I've found it very difficult to tell if they're tight or not. Much different feel from the Irwin clamps I'm used to. Glad yours are working for you though. Take care!

      You mean quick clamps aren't ideally suited to applying excessive clamping pressure??? Mind blown.

    I dismantled my Aldi quick clamps and drilled out the holes where the steel pivot for the lever locates and replaced them with a 5mm bolt and a nylock nut. They no longer flex and spread as you apply pressure.

      Yes, I thought about doing that as well, just haven't gotten around to doing it. Good idea! Take care.

      It only took a couple of minutes (apart from waiting for the hardware to arrive) so it's well worth it. They work as well as more expensive Irwin clamps now. :)

      Thanks for the suggestion! I have modded all my clamps today

    I have several of the Workzone clamps and have never had the handle pop open. The only issue I had was they slipped open when tightened. This issue was solved by removing the black plastic coating on the top and bottom of the main bar.

    I've had mine 3 or 4 years, only problem I've had is on occasion the ratchet has slipped a notch on one clamp, usually when i'm rushing.
    For the price these are sold at i find them excellent, treat them with respect and due care and they will serve you well and please never tighten any clamp with two hands, especially one with a ratchet.

    Don't you think people still don't know what's the voting icons are for? Your review is top notch and people obviously give thumb down for the product.

      Could be, maybe some people really like these clamps. Trying to figure out why people do stuff is hard. Thanks for watching, and take care!

    I have a couple of these and have been using them for a year or so with good results. My only complaint is that occasionally, it is difficult to get them to release.

  • @stu2512
    @stu2512 7 лет назад +3

    Just before you push on the release button, pull the leaver and hold, this makes it a lot easier to release the clamp.

    These clamps are good,The only draw back i have found is the rubber foot to the clamp does come off now and then,its better to hot glue these on from the start.Apart from that i cant fault them for the price.

    Not sure why you don't use protective Packers when clamping wood. Saves any marks on the material.

    I always put cardboard between the clamps to prevent marking regardless of quality.

    Sold in Holland by the Action stores. At only 1.99 euro, they are excellent value for money.

    • @BrianHilson
      @BrianHilson  7 лет назад

      Wow, that's really cheap!

    • @marks.6480
      @marks.6480 7 лет назад +1

      Yep. And at that price, I don't really mind the low build quality. A comparable "name brand" clamp is at least 7 times more expensive and not that much better. I will look into replacing the steel pivot as WilleyedOney suggested below.

    I didn't know they had Aldi in the US. Workzone seems reasonable. What do you make of their powertools?

    • @BrianHilson
      @BrianHilson  7 лет назад

      I've never tried them, and I'm a little skeptical now, after being disappointed with the clamps and digital calipers. The chisels are nice though.

      I think you have to be careful with Aldi. Mostly the workzone stuff is reasonable quality. I guess they get the products made by other companies. Generally German stuff is good quality so you can get some bargains. I think it's worth having a decent drill though so always go with Bosch because my father did. I always trusted his advice on cars and tools.

      the 18 volt 3ah circular saw is great, i use mine on site instead of my XR Dewalt one, got mine at the final red sticker price, £19 !

      I have a full range of their power tools and they are good for the price and come with a 3 year warranty.

    It seems to me that there was more pro's than con's plus you have to take into consideration the price difference. These tools are an affordable option if you can't buy the big names!!

    • @BrianHilson
      @BrianHilson  6 лет назад

      Yeah, they're not terrible. I still use them occasionally. Unfortunately the Harbor Freight ones are crap, so I don't know if there's a good cheap option. The Irwin ones aren't too expensive if you get them on sale, and those work great.

    Sold in Poland under the Vorel cheapo brand and proably few other brands across the world. Think twice before buying those. The vital rectangular metal plates are made of poor soft steel. Go to your local shop and ask for the shittiest steel they have. That's the one. Probably the same steel roofers use for lighting protection stripes. Many Chinese products use such steel (mild) in the products. Zink-coated, often cut to shape with stamping, meaning they found the way to the products as parts of raw stock.

    Aldi* there is no s on the end. Purchased at Aldi* not Aldis

  • @johnhazzard9729

    The new version, purchased in 2019 have been redesigned and while looking similar, are just plain inferior junk.
    The operating levers snap due to poor redesign and poor material.

    I think the gentleman presenting this, has never used tools of any sort before in his life. Aldi clamps are a decent product & for the price ....... well come on now. I gave up on the presentation @ 8min.
