Always excited to see a new one of your videos coming out! As a former cocktail bartender I had a few thoughts if you're open to them. (1) I highly recommend adding gin and tequila. Tequila may be more tricky to fully integrate into vibe of the setting, but I think gin pairs super well, especially with the temperate climate and wooden biome. Also, kombucha, though non-alcoholic would be a nice addition. (2) I saw that you had an intermediate step between the grains and beer. Beer, wine, and cider only require fermentation. I like that you've introduced the aging barrels for wine and cider though. That's a nice touch to give each product a consistent three stages. For products like beer or kombucha you could either make them a two stage production, or you could do a double fermentation, which isn't uncommon. The first fermentation can be fairly generic and the second fermentation could be used to introduce additional flavor profiles. Depending on your complexity/simplicity tolerance you could open both beer and kombucha into a wider range of products. (3) Ideas for gathering additional resources could include hiring a gatherer, purchasing from farmers/hunters/foragers/etc. or maybe developing a relationship with an out of town supplier? Probably stuff you've already thought of. I think some of the Assassin's Creed games had a function where you could send an employee off on a mission and they'd come back with resources after a set period of time. Food for thought. In Chile, we have a drink thats called "Terremoto" (wich is spanish for earthquake). It's made from a wine called "pipeño", wich is in turn made from Pisco brews that did not pass quality control. In addition to that, it's made with tonic water, vanilla IceCream and grenadine. It's an amazing, refreshing spring drink that is ONLY AVALIBLE IN SPRING due to it going bad very fast. Maybe it would make an interesting game mechanic for a seasonal recipe.
Every time I see you upload a vlog on Chef’s RPG, it basically becomes a must-watch for me. It’s been really informative and interesting to see the game development progress and listen to your thoughts on why certain things are designed! I cannot wait until you release the game, and it’s shaping up to me probably my next time sink to get invested in. (Also: I know you mentioned you wanted alcohol suggestions, but would you consider using some of these tools to make non-alcoholic alternatives? Some types of non-boozy spirits are out on the market and it might be fun to implement further down the line.)
Also you can check the story of "La Chartreuse". It s a sacred alcohol made by monks, and the recipe is a secret! It could be a cool quest to join a group that holds a secret alcohol recipe and become the new brewer
Mead is definitely a must! Only ingredients needed are honey and water! But you can add other things to create different flavors of desired, such as fruit juices, fruit slices, spices, etc. Looks good!!
This would be my one suggestion as I have made mead at home. The process is very simple compared to other alchohols. It also has the distinction of being the oldest alchoholic beverage.
Love everything here, esp. the possibility of just running a bar instead of a restaurant for a more chill experience. But the branching path recipes seems very complicated. It might help ease players into it if, 1) they have to purchase/earn brewing recipes, and 2) that map of the "phases" is incorporated into the UI somehow. Either way, very excited!
You should add moonshine as a cheap option to brew but with a 50% chance of giving the person you sell it to food poisoning or something 😂 that'd be hilarious idk
Add "Snaps" or "Schnaps". Something we drink in Sweden especially around midsummer, easter or christmas. It is basically vodka (Absolut vodka) originally made from potatoes. Fun fact, "absolut vodka" became so good at making pure snaps that people didn't like it so they have to manually add impurities that were found in snaps in the old days. They often come with some flavours such as blackcurrant berries or elder flower.
I got recommended this and I had to binge watch the entire thing, this game is already so detailed, I can't wait to see what it will be like on release!
Grapa is a cultural spirit in Italy. It's a "peasant wine" mare from the leftover mash from pressed grapes that made wine. This is fermented in water and distilled. The unregulated homemade product, like homemade Vodka, can be as strong as Moonshine and Everclear.
Well done on your progress, been following this game for a while now and can't wait for it to be finally released. I always enjoy seeing the progress and transparency of your videos. Keep it up!
Ahhh! I absolutely look forward to each and every new devlog! I love how ASMR-like the brewing system feels and how kind of retro the UI for that part is/ As for the late gameplay loop, maybe you can make it where some of the less rare items can be "ordered online" or something like that? If a late game player were to get a lot of money, they can order the easy stuff and focus on getting rarer ingredients. You could even have partnerships with orchards or something ahahah! Or maybe prepare a small indoor greenhouse or plantbox for small things such as herbs or tomatoes...? I'm mostly basing my knowledge off of stardew valley ahahah! Can't wait for more updates! 💗💗💗
The amount of inspiration this series has given me is insane. You reallly motivated me to create my own game and post devlogs about it. Chef RPG will break all the record because we can see the love you are putting into it which is very scarce in games we see nowadays. Thanks for making this game!
I wonder if you could add other fermented foods and ingredients as well, like soy sauce, sauerkraut, kimchi and such, since you have a fermentation tank included in the process. I've become very invested in fermenting and it's such a delight. You can even brew alcohol using just sugar, water, dried fruits, and water kefir crystals. The longer it ferments, the more alcoholic it gets, so you could have 3 stages: water kefir lemonade (because it's sweet, bubbly and the fruit adds flavor), light alcoholic water kefir and then strong alcoholic water kefir. Let's say it's one in-game day to become lemonade, two days for light alcohol and three days for strong alcohol. Furthermore, knowing a bit about brewing, the treatment of the barrel is an immense taste / game changer and the type of wood as well. If you were to use one barrel for wine and later use it for whiskey, you will get fruity notes of the wine inside the whiskey. This is like refining your alcohols and giving them an extra kick (whatever that extra kick in the game may look like).
Chef RPG has now overtaken Witchbrook as the no. 1 game I want to come out ASAP 😄 I can't believe I only found out about it this weekend. What fine work!
I love the idea of a brewing system! It sounds really fun. Perhaps when you hover over the buttons you could add a way to see the drinks you can make (based off the ingredients you placed/are in your inventory).
I recently found this channel and i been fascinated in the progress you show in the videos, I'm actually watching it for inspiration to get working on a project too

So exited to play this game! I love your devlog so much and i feel like i'm learning a lot just watching you explain stuff. btw, people already said that but proficiency could be a nice way to make the collection faster, as well as hiring people to do it for you.
- Champagne is a sort of a brand name isn’t it? - please use more for-loops in your code. The item_1, item_2, item_3, item_4 makes my CTS-ridden wrists act up just by looking at it. Oh well, maybe it’s what makes you faster
Once again, it's an amazing video ! I was thinking that maybe adding a multiplayer mode could be a great idea, especially to gather resources and manage restaurants. For instance, one could be gathering resources while the other is cooking. And you could do some cooking mini games together. I'm really looking forward to the release of Chef RPG. Keep up the good work !! 👍👍
one note is... since someone else is crafting the equipment, it should take some time instead of been just instant. like, you get an order for the equipment. and it gets ready in a couple days. which could also be reflected in a half built machine showing up in her workshop. so lets say, you want like several pieces, every order has its own wait time. therefore if you go the next day and have the materials, you can just place a new order right away. the other thing would be having the option to pay a lot of extra money to have bianca buy the materials for you instead of searching for them. like this is the price if you bring the materials, and this is if you dont want to collect them.... which could be an option available AFTER you have built at least 1 of that machine.
I am SOOOOOO excited for this game! Please continue building and making these systems! I love your Devlog :D Thank you tons for all the hard work you're doing on this :)
This looks amazing! I'd add mead, it has a bit different brewing process than wine, but you could skip the press and it'd be nearly identical. Keep up the awesome work!
11:45 I think a natural part of the restaurant expansion would be to hire people to do things that you have previously done yourself. So you go from doing all of it yourself to becoming more and more of the owner of the restaurant. Maybe there is a way of importing ingredients but for a far more expensive price which will only be worth it for players later in the game.
Try Pálinka. It's a hungarian alcohol 40%-85%, and can be made from practically anything (not even kidding). You can make it from fruits of course, but also from snakes, aaaand from certain leather shoes... yeah. Also Kumis, fermented equine milk, alcohol content from 2%.
i recently just discovered about this game and I am SO UPSET that i can no longer back it on kickstarter aghhhhhh i love your pixel art and dedication on this game. You and your team are amazing
Liqueur is a huge widely popular form of alcohol which has a simplistic process and can tie in with other aspects of your game. It could be open ended- as there are liqueurs with just about any ingredient- berries, to chocolate, to coffee, to licorice. Could be interesting hosting your own bar and making cocktails using various alcohols
As a licensed bartender, that's a pretty good arrangement of liquor you've got! Though I will say that you're missing two of the staple hard liquors, that being gin and tequila
Maybe once you've gathered enough of a single ingredient you can hire someone to gather that ingredient for you, maybe at a small loss of quality, or maybe higher quality costs more. And this way you can make more similar to a real restaurant where its about keeping your pantry stocked with the right items.
Hi!! I just Love your work, it's so inspiring to me, to finish my own work, my on game... I'm aways waiting for your videos!!! Also... I'm from Brazil, and here we have an drink called "Caipirinha", it's a mix pf limon, cachaça and sugar... Sometimes we put condensed milk, but it this!! Thanks!! I love your work!!!
I had an idea for the equipment purchase tab, how about putting some blueprints, some rulers and pencils, a futuristic tablet in the corner, it would look really cool and better than a gray wall, It will look like her workstation..
I could suggest you to add Arak Bali as an option! It is an Indonesian alcohol made from coconut tree. All you have to do is tap the coconut, collect the sap, and store it in large barrel for fermentation for 1-2 days! Anyway, cannot wait to see the full release!
Having worked in wine&spirits industry 10years, I love this. But only thing that breaks immersion a bit, is that beer isn’t distilled. Would be cool if beer could skip that step in game too, which is what makes it cheaper & more readily available than other alcoholic beverages. Super excited to for this release!
Looks great and really clean, maybe add some wonky-ness to give it some minicamp charm but other than that. Really cool. It’s better than just putting ingredients into a barrel and that’s it
A unique drink not many people know of is Patxaran, typical from the northern parts of Spain! It is a liqueur made from "Endrinas", blackthorn or sloe berries, and mixed with herbs and spices to add depth to the drink. It is VERY strong, not just the alcohol content but the added herbs and such just increase the flavor. Personally I don't like it but most people that try it swear by it.
Hey Noah, Chef RPG is growing so well and I can’t wait for this to come out. Perhaps in a way to not make gathering too repetitive you could add either some upgrades to make gathering faster (also allows you to make higher quality fish or something like that, it could include a better fishing rod or a better scythe, etc.) or you could allow the player to hire hunters/gatherers. Maybe you could make alcohol a late game thing but high value, so instead of always hunting and gathering the player can put more attention into alcohol. (I’m not sure this is what you meant when you talked about changing up the gameplay loop) Anyways, keep up the great work but DO NOT rush this game or I will be *quite* annoyed. No pressure :)
I have a quick suggestion for the scaling problem - you could add an NPC that you run into gathering supplies, just like you, who mentions selling them to the local shops. As you befriend them, they offer to sell directly to you, and eventually they give you the option to make a recurring order. (They would deliver it, or you could pick it up, each day or week) You'd make less profit per dish, since you're paying the NPC to gather for you, but you'd be able to serve more customers and reclaim some of your time.
Yup! Did have something like this planned, connected to the relationship system. It's normal for restaurants to get deliveries from suppliers :) Someone else mentioned potentially hiring hunters and gatherers. Can look into this!
It would be interesting to see something where certain drinks, like wine, would have different stages of aging instead of just one. The more you aged the drink, the more it would cost/add popularity to your menu.
I think that the restaurants can still be improved interior design wise. I know its a pretty big ask but maybe if you could create rooms/renovate like in the sims or something? You also talked about having multi level restaurants in a past video. My dream restaurant for this game when it finally comes out is a two floor restaurant with an overhang and an entertainer on a stage. Maybe on top of being able to renovate your restaurant you could also hire entertainment like singers or comedians? At the moment the tables and chairs feel overcrowded and monotonous, so maybe you could add different table shapes (long rectangles and circular ones, maybe even booths?) or something similar. I saw someone else comment about Feng Shui in animal crossing and i think having boosts for atmosphere would be good. And your interior affecting the customers youd get sould be cool too. A more fancy restaurant has less customers but they're willing to pay more for dishes, as an example. These are all just some basic ideas, and the game looks amazing already, but seeing as the restaurants are at the core of the gameplay, i think players having more creative freedom would be a better idea. Thanks for making something so cool, Noah!
Just discovered your channel and this game looks fantastic, kudos to you! PS: Referring to what you say at the end, you could add a hunting/gathering outpost to the village where after a series of missions they let you send people out to gather ingredients for you once a day. Maybe as you upgrade the outpost you can get better quality ingredients or greater batches of them.
What if after your restaurant gets big enough, you can hire someone to help you collect ingredients? Then at the end of each day, your or the restaurant's inventory of items increases by some amount, maybe depending on pay or the person's gathering skill?
In my opinion I think the remembering would get annoying. So I think for me I would add a recipe book but I'm not sure if you've already added this :)

Maybe it would make an interesting game mechanic for a seasonal recipe.
I can't describe how beautiful this game is.
Thanks! Could be a good starter drink
This would be my one suggestion as I have made mead at home. The process is very simple compared to other alchohols. It also has the distinction of being the oldest alchoholic beverage.
im surprised mead wasnt on there
Bro I was just thinking that
Love everything here, esp. the possibility of just running a bar instead of a restaurant for a more chill experience.
Loving the artstyle of this game! I hope it will become very succesfull as you really deserve this 👊🏼
Add "Snaps" or "Schnaps".
I know it’s a tad late for suggestions but Triple Sec, Jager and Cognac are some of my favourite alcohols, Tequila and Palinka too, super nice.
Grapa is a cultural spirit in Italy. It's a "peasant wine" mare from the leftover mash from pressed grapes that made wine. This is fermented in water and distilled. The unregulated homemade product, like homemade Vodka, can be as strong as Moonshine and Everclear.
put cachaça in your game, an alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane in brazil
Would make sense to have sugar cane as well to obtain sugar for pastry 🍰 and also making cachaça
Stumbled upon this and now I'm hooked. Very impressive.
I love the ideas!!
Mead would be a great addition! It’s super simple to make, and has a lot of options, depending on what fruits you infuse it with.
Genius thought process, love the brewing system!
I love seeing chef rpg updates! Keep up the good work!
I recently found this channel and i been fascinated in the progress you show in the videos, I'm actually watching it for inspiration to get working on a project too
Amazing work! 0:55 add Caipirinha, a traditional staple cocktail from Brazil, made of lime juice, sugar and cachaça.
Whoa dude. This is an amazing workflow video. Very insightful.
I am so excited about this project! The PixelArt is just beautiful! I love the setting, it looks like it will be a very chill game, and I love that, I've been following this project for months, and I can't wait until it comes out, greetings from Venezuela my brother. (Google translator).
you gotta add brazilian cachaça so the player can later make a drink called caipirinha
How have I not seen a recommendation on your channel before, I love your styles, can't wait to play this!
I think another cool feature would be the ability to hire gatherers so that you can focus more on the restaurant itself
Wait. This is one of the games that I am waiting on to be released! This is awesome that the developer's RUclips page came up in my feed. Subscribed!
I'm really loving everything about the game and devlogs, the effort, love and thinking to detail on every aspect of the game is amazing and inspiring.
This is the kind of game that even if end up not having time to play it, it would still be money well spent. So much love and thought put into it! It's amazing.
Just brilliant! Love the passion and depth you’re applying to this.
should be illegal for anyone to be this talented at pixel art😭😭
So exited to play this game! I love your devlog so much and i feel like i'm learning a lot just watching you explain stuff.
btw, people already said that but proficiency could be a nice way to make the collection faster, as well as hiring people to do it for you.
Im really looking forward to more development and the day it release, I wish you the best.
Great job! 👏🏻 Your pixel art looks fantastic. I love the decision to simplify the brewing processes. Looking forward to playing it!
one note is... since someone else is crafting the equipment, it should take some time instead of been just instant. like, you get an order for the equipment. and it gets ready in a couple days. which could also be reflected in a half built machine showing up in her workshop.
so lets say, you want like several pieces, every order has its own wait time. therefore if you go the next day and have the materials, you can just place a new order right away.
the other thing would be having the option to pay a lot of extra money to have bianca buy the materials for you instead of searching for them. like this is the price if you bring the materials, and this is if you dont want to collect them.... which could be an option available AFTER you have built at least 1 of that machine.
im so excited for this game
When the items bounce you should really make them rotate in a random direction as the bounce up, to make it more realistic and less mathematic
Ahh you are right. Forgot to rotate
Keep up the awesome work!
i love watching your progress. Such an inspiration. I proud of you 🎉
11:45 I think a natural part of the restaurant expansion would be to hire people to do things that you have previously done yourself.
Already wishlisted! So hype for that game!
Thanks for the tip! I will take a look
this game is getting amazing
🤩
Can't wait for this game! I already added it into my wishlist on steam
Thanks!! I love your work!!!
this was so cool to get an update, loved the video. Keep it up!
It's looking incredible - really really phenomenal work!!! I'm speechless
Man, I love your work. The art, the music, the gameplay is masterpiece.
Can't wait for this game!!! I check the steam store about once a week! :(
Man, I'm seriously always so excited for this game.
Looks great and really clean, maybe add some wonky-ness to give it some minicamp charm but other than that. Really cool. It’s better than just putting ingredients into a barrel and that’s it
Every time I see new content about this game I get more excited. Can't wait to get addicted to it 😂
A unique drink not many people know of is Patxaran, typical from the northern parts of Spain! It is a liqueur made from "Endrinas", blackthorn or sloe berries, and mixed with herbs and spices to add depth to the drink. It is VERY strong, not just the alcohol content but the added herbs and such just increase the flavor. Personally I don't like it but most people that try it swear by it.
Thanks for the info! Will see if it works for the game
This is great dedication, I hope most food type items have cool minigames like these!
I'm really excited for this game
