Researchers at Argonne work towards improving nuclear reactor operations

- Since its beginning, scientists at Argonne have worked to develop and improve nuclear energy technologies.
Today, researchers continue these efforts using technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to improve nuclear reactor operations.
In this presentation, Argonne nuclear engineers Akshay J. Dave and Roberto Ponciroli discuss their proposed new system using AI algorithms to enable autonomous operation of advanced nuclear reactors. Autonomous operation integrates processes such as sensors, monitoring, control, and decision making into a single framework.
This system of AI teamwork could relieve engineers from repetitive, error-prone tasks and might help them determine the optimal course of action for reactor operations.
