Yas!! You guys are back in the editing chair! Before last episode I was worried you’d given up the series. Keen to put the little one to bed tonight so I can live vicariously through you two gents again.
I basically never comment on RUclips but had to say that this is one of the best travel series I have watched on this site and I've seen alot! Great stuff!
Cheers Patrick, really apprecate your comment and positive feedback. We hope to keep the vids coming and glad you're enjoying them. Feel free to share our channel with anyone else you think would enjoy them. Next Kyrgyzstan episode will be out later in the week
Couple notes I've made about ATW bikes from your trip - probably don't buy a dr650! Don't ride tubes. Tubeless are easier to plug. Maybe bring a tube or two for back up. Friction plates are handy to have. As is duct tape. Carry fork seals. What an adventure you two took.
think you are reaching some invalid conclusions. Off road bikes have spoked wheels because they have greater elasticity in absorbing shocks and will not fracture like cast wheels. With most spoked wheels it is necessary to use tubes (some BMWs excepted). That's the way it works, As a low cost bike DR650s have no direct competitor and have some pluses like having a carb which when you get bad fuel can be easily dismantled and cleaned, Try doing that with an injector!!!!
Thanks mate, Tajikistan episode 1 will be out in the next 48hours. Feel free to share our videos with mate or groups you think would like them as that would really help us out

Great video! A lot of us would love to do what you are doing.... except we don't want the problems. We don't want bike problems, flat tires, bike eating mud, extreme cold... But then it wouldn't be an adventure, it would be a nice tour. Excellent attitude gentlemen! Looking forward to the rest of your trip and I sure hope things get better for you.
We have actually finished the trip. We somehow did make it to England but we have lots of footage to edit. I dont think people understand the effort and time involved, we tried doing it on the road but it became near impossible
@@Northandleftabit I was wondering that as there was the clip a while ago with you at a editing desk. You are producing a such great series! I was trying to figure how it was possible to produce such high quality videos on the road. I used to sit down once a week and write my diary, now I have these amazing diary's of the whole ride around the world, but it was such a pain in the arse at the time!
@@exposure3805 well most of the first videos were done on the road but it did become too hard and editing each night rather than actually just enjoying where we were wasnt worth it. Good times
It's been a while, but this is certainly a very welcomed surprise! I really hoped you didn't stop the YT experiment, glad you didn't! So what I'm going to do is rewatch the entire series, naturally.
@@Northandleftabit Well I made it back. Couldn't binge it in one session so I took my time. Enjoyed all of the episodes as if I had seen them for the first time, you guys' just rock.
Cheers mate, the way i looked at it was we knew when we set off there would be issues and we chose to do the trip using our own money so no one was forcing us so get on with it haha. Dont get me wrong at times it was annoying but we loved it even in the bad times really
So glad to see you uploading again, and we LOVED these episodes. I think we just love it when things go wrong, and these had it all. Super useful too. I immediately jumped on the Adventure Bike Australia page and ordered $850 worth of bits, bearings, clutch plates, fork seals... We learn so much from you guys make sure your uploads stay ahead of us!!!
Hi team, yeah please learn from our errors if you can. Some of it was just bad luck too and if you cant find normal oil diesel oil is 110% ok. Where are you now? We just added a new episiode today so really trying to keep the momentum going
There is a trick with leaking seals. Run a very think piece of plastic between the seal and the fork to clear the dirt out. Often this solves the problem or at least slows the oil loss. Use plastic like a milk bottle, yoghurt pot….
I can't tell if y'all are the two unluckiest people I've seen or the luckiest to be able to survive all this bad luck. Hope your fortunes get better soon!

Hello from Colorado another great video!! I really like it when you have mechanical issues you show how you overcome them. I'm assuming that was diesel fuel in those bottles not diesel oil. People used to drain the oil and fill their car engine with diesel fuel and let it run at idle for a little while and then drain it and refill it with new engine oil. They did this to get rid of engine sludge, this was mostly back in the 1950s & 60s when they used this method to remove the sludge buildup. This is the first time I heard of anyone operating a gas engine with just diesel fuel and no oil for a extended period of time.
Thanks mate, but no surprisingly this is Diesel Engine oil and even more surprisingly the bike ran perfectly on it. Apparently you can do the same with big old Harley Davidsons too, we were very skeptical at first when we read this but had no option so gave it a go.
Great job guys and wonderful places! I also traveled to Kyrgyzstan with a Honda crf 250 rally last year and it's absolutely outstanding. Can I ask you which maps do you use in your video and where I can find them? Thanks a lot
Ufff... the head bearings are far worse to have be buggared than the fork seals. Smart choice on the bikes by the way, fancier steeds with USD forks would have been useless start to finish and dumped their oil at the first sign of dust. And don't be too hard on your fuel filter... she did her job it looks like to me! Also, also ... vodka and snickers! Yes please. Enjoying this fellas!
Loving this series guys! I had a clutch go on my Dr as well and I couldn’t find many upgraded options for it. Has anyone found anything that is a much better option over stock?
Thanks for sharing. You guys are making an epic trip. Here are some BFE repairs for places where you can't find parts. Seal the spokes up with Shoe Goo or even silicone sealer, then run tubeless. That would stop all those flats or at least make a simple Tubeless plug only take a few minutes for a flat repair. Almost nothing goes wrong with fork seals. Learn how to clean them on RUclips. Most neck bearing can be repaired by simply throwing away the ball separator and adding a couple extra ball to the races. Good luck out there.
Ohhh man. Now I have to watch the next one! What an adventure, this story just keeps getting more interesting. How many KM's in at this point? Had it just been long enough that all the stuff was starting to fail because of the distance you had gone?
