I have a few newer models of the R36S, and I can confirm the buttons aren't stiff anymore. The membranes have been swapped. The shoulder buttons are the same though.

Maybe try asking on the R36s subreddit, there are many hobbyists there who would be more knowledgeable about this than I am
Had one costing over £40 and it didn't charge after hour or two playing it and just ordered one for £26 on AliExpress and not tech savvy on retro gaming but getting into it and hoping it won't corrupt or not charge again

Well it depends on the price of other handhelds in your country. For me in America, for around $59 I could get a handheld like the RG35XX Plus or the RG35XX H, which are both more powerful than the R36S. But those might be a lot more expensive where you live, so it really depends on the prices of everything else
Thx, mine only saves if I save in game, then initiate this protocol you have stated, from then on all I have to do is save in game and the save manager takes over, it was luck and tinkering for hours that saved the day👍🤪
The R36S also has a new clone so when people start to get those we'd know if they really are better than the old ones. First one I saw of this clone uses the original screen, better buttons and better build quality so it's really interesting.

I'm not an expert when it comes to this stuff, but I would check out the store's metrics (like reviews, followers, etc.), how many of the R36s they have sold (it usually says on the product page), and anything else you can find about them. There definitely are some scammers on Aliexpress, and usually when I'm in doubt I'll pay a few more dollars just to make sure it's a legit seller, since I've heard Aliexpress can be hard to deal with if you were scammed

I bought it, spent more on other things to use the coupon, and I'll let you know how it goes if I remember when it does or doesn't arrive. @@swissunique record yourself opening the package, there's a scam where they put in cheap brick lcd systems instead of what you've ordered. There's a good chance it's going to be that scam. I assume it must be profitable if someone doesn't ask for a refund, but it doesn't make much sense to be since ali holds your payment in escrow until you say you've received the order and don't submit for a refund.

Honestly, I regret this purchase. Yeah it was cheap but the hardware changes that have made me crazy trying to update the firmware is just way more problems than it's worth. No Wifi, can't get any WiFi dongle working on my out of date firmware. Can't get newer firmware to boot because of the hardware changes. Not worth the hassle to save a few dollars.....
I agree. If it isn’t broke…It’s 30 bucks don’t expect perfection. For that matter nothing is perfect no matter how much you spend. I am not even sure that I will upgrade the micro sd cards. As for WiFi. The original systems did not have this feature either. Just side load your content and enjoy the nostalgia.
