Училась в МГУ когда-то, очень давно, филолог - очень приятно, что удалось сохранить чистоту произношения, живя в Штатах более 20-ти лет. Любовь к фиалкам у меня сохранилась еще с детства, рада, что могу их выращивать здесь и делиться их красотой с другими!

Извините, если я навязчива, но очень хочется узнать. Спасибо !🌸🍃

    Thank you for your June video - I always enjoy your monthly bloom reviews. May I ask a question: why are you growing Peppermint Girl in the closed cup? Did you find that particular plant needs extra humidity? I think you grow most of your AVs in open room air.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  3 года назад +1

      So glad you like them, thank you! Peppermint Girl is one of my most recent arrivals, so keeping it domed to isolate from other plants, just in case. It's a very young starter plant, so extra humidity helps while it's acclimating to the new home.

    Your blooms are beautiful! I am waiting on my leaves to propagate. I different this time because I don’t have a lot of light/sun in my house. I don’t have a light either.🥲🥲

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  3 года назад +1

      So glad you like them, thank you! Hope your leaves produce healthy babies soon! Try positioning them in a way that they get some indirect natural sunlight, diffused through a sheer curtain, I used to grow some of mine that way and they did ok. Happy growing!

    Such a beautiful collection! I was just perusing the Violet Barn and Lyndon Lyons websites to see if they had some violets that I’ve been looking for! Just curious what lights you use on your shelves, and where you purchased them. I just recently discovered your channel, so happy I did! We had our first club meeting after 19 months due to Covid! It was so wonderful seeing everyone again. Lovely kitty! ❤️

      Appreciate your feedback! It was amazing to reconnect with my club after such a long hiatus, indeed! The kitty always needs to be in the center of action, she is so sassy, lol! Check out my lights and stands setup video: ruclips.net/video/axTu2oq2Uy4/видео.html - it has links to the light fixtures and other helpful info. Happy growing!

    Scales AV is very hard to find, I’ve been looking for over a year. It appears to me that you don’t remove the sucker leaves on most of your miniature or semi miniature plants. I have over 150 mini and semi minis and I try to de-sucker them often. Some of the minis are sucker factories and I have had to throw them away because they got out control. Just one big mound of suckers. Robs June Bug and Dolores Sugar Candy come to mind. As always , your violets are beautiful. Wish I could share pics of mine. Some of my favorites is trailer Lilli Pilli and DoDo Bird as well as many others. Take care of those babies and keep the videos coming.

      Love Rob's DoDo bird, such a good bloomer! It took me a while to get a hold of Scales, too - I got mine on eBay, I've seen it on there recently, worth checking out! This is my moving year, so my plants have been growing wild, lol! Hope to get them all groomed once we settle down. Thanks so much for watching! Appreciate your feedback!

    I have a question for you. How do you control the algae in your wick water? Thank you

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  3 года назад +1

      Great question! I used to use hydrogen peroxide, about 1-2 teaspoons per gallon of wicking water when I first started using wick watering method - it helped somewhat, but not completely, so I just wash the wicking containers periodically, to keep them clean. Some growers use copper pennies to slow down the algae growth - copper has biostatic properties incompatible with algae, so worth trying.

    Greeting from Canada …Beautiful plants I have a question have you ever had any problem with mites???
    Do you know how to deal with, I’m having that problem 😢
    Thanks

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  3 года назад

      Thanks so much! So sorry about the mites! I haven't experienced it myself, personally, just heard how other growers deal with them, in the African Violet Nerds Facebook group - there are several types of miticides that they mentioned, Forbid being one of them, if I remember it correctly. I heard mites become especially active during hot summer weather.
