    Without the same fear and anxiety men are starting to wear purses - smaller cross body bags from luxury design houses that look and act a lot like cross body bags for women. I share my thoughts about this trend, go into some of the history of purses and highlight two of the trendiest purses for men - the Dior Saddle bag and the Louis Vuitton Soft Trunk.
    Check out Anthony Deluca's LV Soft Trunk video here : • Video

    bags add so much to an outfit. I've never understood the stigma that carrying something to hold your things is feminine. it's not just an aesthetic improvement to an outfit but it's also pretty utilitarian. I'm glad that these luxury houses built upon the wave that supreme created because i think it foreshadows an explosion of the creativity and prevalence in menswear within the next decade.

    • @BraveNewWear
      @BraveNewWear  5 лет назад +5

      Totally agree - bags are primarily a utilitarian thing (like I mention Anthropologists think bags were the first human invention) but I think the stigma is linked to hand bags holding makeup and feminine products (hence the 1920s article)

    I absolutely love that I've added bags to my attire. I've always been both very masculine and very stylish, so sticking with the darker leathers, with the exception for a few of them with much more "pop", will help make them blend into your outfit. Oh and anyone concerned with it looking 'feminine'🙄😒? Yes, be prepared to defend your style to your uncultured associates, but as far as the rest of the world judging you....FUCK 'um!! They are not working your job(s) for you, they are not bathing you at night and damn sure ain't paying any parts of your rent/mortgage, so sport those bags with all confidence and remember that the most successful designers were once ridiculed by some lame-ass for their designs however many years ago too😉

    Can I just say if we ignore the fashion part, bags are way more convinient than stuffing your pockets full. Also wearing a backpack will melt my back and it's uncomfortable to hang it from one side because it's not built to be wore that way. And if I do wear backpack as its meant to it's harder to access things from it. Those to me are good enough reason to get a man bag.

    I would wear one. I haven’t bought one yet but I’m in the thinking process. If you think back to pioneer days if a man wanted to carry his stuff, pants did not have pockets. So they had to carry a bag to put your stuff. Your tobacco, your extra lead shots, your bullet patches, your money/gold etc. I could see manufacturers removing pockets from pants just to promote the man bag accessory. These days men still carry wallets, cellphones, chargers, earbuds etc. Trying to jam all of in your pockets can get ridiculous and even be uncomfortable. I like the versatility of a cross body bag. It can be carried in front for ease of access or behind me when I do things like eating. That’s my thoughts 😎

I even used a fanny pack but found them too small if I carried a light hoodie or hooded shell. A small backpack worked better. I did try a sling, several actually, but found them too small as well. Another thing I don’t like about a sling is was unstable or would swing around if I were doing anything other than a walk. For me various side backpacks & the fanny pack are the most stable, hands free carry.

With all the tech we carry today with the boom of the digital age there is nothing wrong with a man carrying a messenger bag. Bags can be masculine as coach and Louis Vuitton as well as other manufactures are starting to make masculine bags. If you are insecure abou this then don't wear one. I for one find it very necessary for the things I need to carry daily and am very secure in my masculinity. It doesn't even phase me at all what others think as it shouldn't . So yes carry away. After using The One by Easkpak, I can say that a purse is a much better way to store items in a secure manner where they won't ever fall out or be pickpocketed. I must care about the fashion aspect of carrying a purse because I feel weird wearing it out in public. The only objective con of the purse is that it moves around when you bend over or walk, but a tighter fit almost fixes that issue, whereas a sling/fanny pack-style bag would not have those two issues.

    Crossbody bags are practical. I dont go for feminine styles but can't deny that crossbody bags are useful for carrying my large smartphone, wallet, large set of keys.

      I use to laugh at dudes who carry bag around but I started to carry a small cross body bag couple weeks ago. I wear shorts a lot (Florida) and couple weeks ago I lost my wallet, it fell out of my pocket. I usually carries a power bank, usb-c cable, microfiber cloth for my glasses, wallet, a can of Copenhagen, phone and galaxy bud in my bag. Now I have all my items in one location, no more unloading my pockets after coming home, no more accidentally putting wallet in the washing machine and now I can get the item that I needed while sitting down without twisting and turning.

    I would use one, just finding a piece that works, I think it comes down to the width of the straps and a size bag that is in the middle not super small like say a clutch, and not overly decorated. I do think part of the reason more men are wearing them is we are carrying more stuff and this whole EDC trend and we got tired of loading down our pockets the backpack is nice but it can be too bulking and does not fit with every situation, or the briefcase or messager bag can be too formal, or more then we need to have to tote around all day. were as a purse is that simple middle ground carries what you need or may need without the added weight or bulk of the above and also easier to keep an eye on. plus i believe we have gotten to the point we care less about the views of others when it comes to how we dress

    Yo first off this video was SO GOOD, second I would totally rock a bag... I think with the help of crossbody fanny packs guys are starting to realize the benefits of carrying a small bag, that mixed with the emergence of totes we are guaranteed murses SOON

    I started with a fanny pack that I bought for keeping things out of my pocket while I was working. Soon I found myself using one in my personal life, inside my bag I could have: my keys, my medicines, gum, chapstick, glucose tablets, ibuprofen, bandaids, pocket knife, a Glock 42, backup battery to charge my phone, AirPods and could probably fit a few more things.
    I think more men will make it a utilitarian choice and will slowly get nudged into more stylish choices. I never really understand shaming a guy for using a bag lol it’s much more sensible than using your pockets and you can carry more stuff.

    I wear small sling bags way before they become a fashion item. A decade already actually. Had kids, need to carry too much stuff, jeans getting skinnier, too forgetfull etc. We asians carry these bags for ages because we commute a lot with motorcycles and scooters. When you ride scooters to almost everywhere yes you need a small sling bag.

    Im here for this. Forget man or woman it is for everyone I will straight up wear a purse. In ancient mesopotamia men wore purses only if they were wealthy... I dont give a truck. I just like bags and purses. So yes you will see me wearing one and im not trying to look like a woman mind you I like being a man. Just be yourself no matter what your pronouns are no matter what your gender.

    I already wear a briefcase crossbody on the daily. If i can downsize, it would be great. But i won't be buying these designer bags. I would go to a local cobbler and sketch a design with them. Get a bag for 1/10th the price and x10 the material quality. Edit: I can also be sure that it's real leather and not faux leather with a bloated price.

    I dont care if a straight man wearing a man purse so all power to you but I just never really understand it at all. Maybe I am not into style that much? I like to think I am. I enjoy wearing nice clothes and GQ like but man purse? I will stick to my wallet. I even feel weird holding my wife's purse for her at the mall whenever she have to go to the restroom or changing. Im sure I will get some hate but thats how I feel. I dont understand it at all. If I want to carry more stuff I carry a backpack or heck duffle bag. I never need to carry alot. In fact my wallet is the minimalist kind not the regular fat ones. I think the real question that I really want to asked is what do you need to carry around as a man to need a purse? Makeup? hair moose or gel? Deodorant? I mean seriously. Snacks for the kids? I dont get it.

    Cross body bags or fanny packs whatever they're called have been a thing for years since like 07 08 from what I can remember as a kid here in Europe nobody ever looked at you weird if you had one. So I don't see the big deal.

    • @BraveNewWear
      @BraveNewWear  5 лет назад +3

      Europe’s always been a little more advanced fashion wise so that makes sense + I’m pretty sure the fanny pack has been popular there for longer so I can imagine how adopting a side bag wouldn’t be a big leap

    I'm not a stylish man. I appreciate a good suit, but in my normal day I wear jeans, t-shirts, button downs, and hoodies. I do, however, have a lot of shit. I carry a firearm(small, back pocket holster), phone(with card wallet, airpods, retention strap, ray bans, gum, pocket caddy(knife, extra cards, spare pistol nag), handkerchief, and my keys.
    I am one of these edc freak, but I'm also a logical person. I like to carry these things, but I hate when my pockets are full all the time. If I just carried a very small bag, then I could free up my pockets to not look so bulky. Maybe I'm just insecure, but I hate that my masculinity keeps from doing this. Lus, I'd love to carry more shit with me. Maybe a fidget toy or two, water bottle/flask, spare earbuds, a battery bank... Idk, I just like stuff and not carrying a bag keeps from having stuff.
    TL;DR
    I'd love to carry a bag, but think it is for metro men. Prove me wrong
