So depending on the rpm you can't randomly trim a propeller because of balance issues. If turning a randomly trimmed propeller at anything approaching fast you will get destructive vibration at the driveshaft. Basic common sense. Trimming blades can be done if you balance the cuts of the blade.

Remember if you try this idea and use a typical fan blade with a curved profile ,it needs more clearance from the outside of the fan diameter to the inside of the wheel...you will know it's enough clearance if you hold the fan inside the wheel and THE SPEED DOESN'T CHANGE. if speed of fan increase you now know the motor is doing less work = moving less air . Try this as you are building it...
Thing that surprised me the most about this video is he found a fan that actually has metal blades, lol. That said, a wheel like the one hanging behind him on the wall where it had the spaces in the spokes would have been a better choice for a fan since it would ultimately allow more air flow.
I really think that is such a totally cool ideal. Very good thinking on this one for sure. And it looks pretty cool. You can sell those fans for expensive cost due to the rim itself. Right on. Thanks for sharing the video you guys have a wonderful evening.

The spokes will turbulate and reduce the flow a bit, but it's cool because it's still useful and I understand this is for decor. I'd definitely make one for the garage/shop/showroom 👍
