Koraku and Oomasa are my favorites. There is also two Korean BBQ places that are really good one is in Weller Court on the third floor and the other is in the Little Tokyo Mall also on the third floor called Manna Korean BBQ. For dessert I love Somi Somi, Honey Me, and Japanese Village Ice Cream.
Little you know about Little Tokyo used to be full surprises from 1910's - 1940's. Some japanese men who was drummers play outside music on the streets during a festival. There was one bath house until it was demolished nobody know where it was located? Little Tokyo had many shops and businessess even some hotels and Inns that used to be in operational. It's currently shrinking slowly but steadily. There has to be something new and old mixed in order to revived this amazing place!
Very surprised you didn’t mention suehiro cafe, the ramen for 11.75 and bowl of rice with gyozas for just 4 more bucks is so good even the karaage chicken. The place also has pretty nice atmosphere
You should do melrose ave, beverly grove, Fairfax, westwood, Brentwood, NoHo arts district, Hollywood, sunset blvd, Santa Monica, Venice, ktown, china town, Pasadena, Glendale, echo park, silver lake next!
Fantastic video! I will have to try more of these places. Cafe Dulcé also has wonderful Blueberry Matcha! And also in Little Tokyo, Japangeles has very cool clothing, and Daiso has great socks and reusable bags!
Interesting I grew up in LA and never ate in this area there are so many places to eat and there’s always my favorites hard to go away from that but thanks for the many options you provided in this video.
Weller Court is the most familiar part of Little Tokyo for me since me and my friends went there for several Escape Room games! It was also the first place I tried the curry bread from Curry House (RIP) and Orochon Ramen which is infamous for having the spiciest ramen in LA... I just tried the standard "Hot" level and even that was intense! Really gotta check out more of LT for sure!
Steve Cha, Southern California's very own Mark Wiens/Mikey Chen providing the very best reviews on our tens of thousands of restaurants and food trucks. Keep up the great reviews. Amazing for us locals but also fantastic for tourists visiting Southern California. Because of the melting pot that Southern California is, we have virtually every type of food in the world represented here.
Thanks for the great tour! I have a trip booked to Europe in December but worry we still will not be allowed there (from USA) so I am considering flying to downtown LA instead and Little Tokyo is on my must do list. Your video was very informative!
Hey Steve, thanks for this Little Tokyo walking tour. I've been there several times and I've been wanting to try some food. Now, I know where to go for lunch. Definitely, I'll be going to that noodle place, Lord permitting.
You didn't show Jungle the anime store in the plaza or Kinokuniya in Weller Court. Those are the main attractions besides the restaurants lol also there is a fun karaoke place in the mall. 👍
Great episode Steve 👍Little Tokyo is my favorite place for good eats. Because of the pandemic I haven't been back to much but as I live only 5 miles away it's a great place and easy to get to. Don't know of any bad places to eat or visit in Little Tokyo only some better than others 👊
Not that I know of, but I suppose you can google search it. Hope that helps. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Next to torigoya is an amazing sushi restaurant named Mako sushi. I don’t know if Mako still works there still since he was in his 70s last time I was there but it was probably one of the best sushi experiences I have ever had in California.
I still have to check out Mako, but I've seen it. Thanks for the recommendation. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
I don't remember seeing a Little Tokyo when I was in NYC a few years ago. I remembered a big Chinatown and a Koreatown, but no Japan town :( At least NYC has some good sushi restaurants :)
Thanks so much for making this! I was supposed to go to Anime Expo last year but couldn't because of the you-know-what. I was really bummed out cuz I REALLY wanted to go to Little Tokyo, but watching your video made me feel like I was there! So thank you! Can't wait to go there in person when this is all over.

❤ Evergreen by Naomi Hirahara. 1947 Japanese Americans released from camps sent to Chicago and return to Little Tokyo to find Bronzville Black community. 100/442 Japanese American Soliders “Go for broke” and Hammer Japanese American Zoot Sumter from Chicago. Great read of Los Angeles 1940. Enjoy 😢😢😢
You can find them in many restaurants in Little Tokyo. It just depends on whether you want it to be very sushi oriented or a mixture of casual Japanese foods. Try Sushi and Teri, Oomasa, and TOT to start. Hope that helps! Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
I would absolutely keep watching your channel even if you wear a mask. It's stressful watching you walk around Little Tokyo and enter establishments without a mask on :(

Be very careful around Little Tokyo. Don't go south of 3rd Street. Night time is no time to be around there. "Skid Row" is just a block away. And the LAPD station around 3rd Street is a complete joke.
eek wow so many wrong facts & information in here - if you were going to do a tour about LT, would have been a better move to bring in someone from the neighborhood/community who actually knows things!
Just came upon this video. I have an interview with activist Bill Watanabe, who helped develop Little Tokyo through the 1980s and 1990s. He said he'd be glad to give tours when covid is over!

Most of the businesses are now Korean owned. The Sawtelle area of West Los Angeles has more Japanese owned businesses.
