Had so much fun training with the legend Larry Wheels 🖤💪🏽 he’s a great coach also check out the video on his channel where we test my PR’s in squat, dead, and bench!
Big respect for Larry as a bodybuilder to be really good in the pushing game of calisthenics...Having a 4 decade training experience, I should say that you are NEVER TOO strong for regular push ups... this movement, should be permanently in your routine...
I think there are other great substitutes like band chest press and heavy dips with bands that give a over all better over load to stimulate growth hormone for a over all better response. The volume push ups for my body don't do as good for me. I'm about 60% endomorph
@@Syntheticoilprotection Do dips in perfect form with decent eccentric phase close to Technical Failure... Don't be too slow but 1 sec up 1 second down... each rep should be like 2 seconds... after that rest for 5 min... don't do a second set... instead do a push up again with perfect form but do it on your knuckles... your elbows should be slightly tucked in... your knuckles should be slightly close to your belly not directly under your chest... this exercise is Pseudo Planche Push Up but on your knuckles.... this will increase your range of motion, protect your elbows from overextending and kinda give you an extra stability component like rings.... your Push Up reps will drop significantly but very soon your chest will pop up and your bench press strength will increase rapidly.... this is an advanced movement and I've been doing it for years... knuckles are important... don't do regular push ups if your rmax is over 30.... do Pseudo Planche Push Up on your knuckles instead... your upper body strength will be insane....
Larry is a warrior, how hard, taxing and exhausting it is for a Big powerlifter to do these moves, with low rest after traning for heavy lift with small reps, with long breaks for a minute is understated. And for him going at it for 4 hours and doing all these planches, and other technic and moves are crazy, hats off to Larry for giving it his all
I mean I am all for natural, but can’t underestimate his work, even if you do steroids you still have to put in the work and hour. And he is honest and open about using steroids, so I do not see how you can hate really.. I’m all for natural and I understand you have to do steroids to compete at the highest level, and if he is open and honest about taking drugs, I do not see a problem with it or how it is any less impressive in anyway. Now if he was lying and hiding it, that’s a different story, and personally I would rather not compete if I had to take steroids to compete at the top, but that is my preferences right. Too each his own, unless we talking about Jesus, he is king of kings, no room for debate
This is why I’ve been dedicated to calisthenics for 4 years now. Lifted weights in my late teens and early 20’s. Now in my early 30’s I’m focused on staying lean and healthy.
Yea, same. Went to the gym for 6 years but with the amount of muscles I gained I simply didn't feel fit anymore and I was struggling to do more than 30 push ups for example which was simply hilarious for the amount of muscle I had. I still go to the gym and don't hate on it but I wouldn't recommend to solo focus on.
This video is ABSOLUTE proof that being huge is somewhat of a hindrance when it comes to controlling your own bodyweight,,,2 sets in and this guy is pausing ,,putting his butt in the air to get some tension off of the range of motion,,all the while Chris is steady and CONTROLLED,,,this video is a testament of bodyweight routines and calisthenics and Chris is a master of staying consistent and having clean form...RESPECT!
In Larry’s defense, being huge and jacked is definitely NOT a hindrance to being one of the most elite power lifters that social media (and probably the world) has to offer. But sure, it’s probably not optimal for doing pushups all day.
Larry and this guy, whose name I don't know, have two totally different goals and philosophies when it comes to training, so you cant really compare them . Its like comparing heavy duty suv with some lambo or ferrari. It doesnt make sense.
Yes but if you are heavier then you have more gains from those movements. Lighter people will progress faster but heavier ones will gain more strentgh in the long run
Thats something i never understood.. like up to a certain point the muscle u gain improves ur relative strength but then it doesnt.. wtf.. even if theyre lean asf ..
Chris! Thank you for being such a motivation in my life. Down 25 pounds and feeling better than ever. No gear, no fancy equipment, and still seeing results. THENX athletes for the win. Hoping to get come apparel to show off where I started!!!
Wow 1st time within 1hr of Chris heria's vids Man respect for you to post such quality vids which provide entertainment as well as fitness education 💯💯
I’m going to follow along to this one. People underestimate how challenging these type of workouts are. The minimal rest time increases the intensity and builds resistance.
appreciate this video. will use this as reference for my pushup workout. thanks! mid aug and im seeing the gains, jus doing this few times a week. lets go!
@7:02 nah the chest pump is crazy LOL, i think I got recommended this because I do 1 of your push up routines, it has regular diamond, elevated diamond, archer push up but just 1 side at a time, and you mix in some dumbbells and tricep dips. Larry is a strong but heavy ass dude, so if y'all were doing handstands just before, i know he's burnt out
I like all these Larry Wheels collabs with other fitness influencers. He’s a cool dude to be secure enough to work with others and support each others platforms!
I'm back on my cut locked into thenx. Had a blast putting on weight/strength/size with weights, but i'm locked back into calisthenics bodyweight, Les get it!
awesome workout, i think larry needs to do this more often, you guys inspired me to practise planche in the lower world, have been training 3days in a row and i can allready feel me feet leave the ground. ive also been doing pushups from that planche grip, can do a couple now, those should also definitly be on larry's traininglist since it is far more similar to the benchpress then normal pushups :)
I don't do push-ups anymore, but I love that you can do them without any equipment, it's easy to track your progression, you can push yourself to failure, and it's weird that you can bounce back quickly from a pushup workout and do them every day if you don't go all out.
It sums up that body weight exercises is not something to slept on. Everyone can lift a feather to a house within days but when it comes to callisthenics, every gym bro who trained like a bodybuilder can witness how excruciating it is to stabilize yourself to prevent from failure in doing body weights.
Thanx for this chest workout, Chris and Larry! Check it Out do 30-45s each exercise, take breath as long as you need in between explosive pushups regular pushups wide pushups decline pushups bench dips archer pushups elevated diamond squeeze pushups bench dips stay upright, have fun and keep it on!
Nah some of the Larry hate in the comments is unreal, most bodybuilders wont even bother attempting calisthenics exercises but Larry went into this giving it his all with a positive attitude.

Larry is constantly doing weighted calisthenics cus of how big he is😂
He drinks his greens every day. 😂I would prefer to have a body like that other guy.

Larry wheels is a beast! We had just finished training for hours straight and filming planche and handstand right before this💪🏽🔥
Ohhh’. Damn I was wondering only push ups that’s it?? I am expecting way more content than just push ups with Larry wheel!! And I am soooo excited!

When you are use to reps of 4-10 with 1-2 minutes of rest then go to high reps with 30sec. rest is a shock to the body.
