@@Dimovuha222 you guys are aware that coh 1 takes place from the initial normandy landings to low countries right? at that time most german units that were actually german (as opposed to ostruppen) were static divisions manned by children and old men. its actually accurate depiction mostly. then you have grenadiers depicting regular soldiers and panzergrenadiers who are modeled after the ss divisions taken from the eastern front to relieve the western front
And sounds more like "Volksgrenadiers" in the original CoH, a poorly trained group of men as the squad leader often berates his squad for their inefficiency.
@@vyshtora not really, Volksgrenadiers is a mix of veterans soldiers, soldiers recovered from wounds, experienced soldiers and new soldiers which were enlisted in other military branches such as the kriegsmarine, luftwaffe, and also the police... and of course there were new soldiers who did not enter in service until then, but in general they learnt very fast from their veteran counterparts. And yeah, even though some volksgrenadier divisions did not a well job others did.
It took me so long to realise the Volksgrenadier summer model's uniform is actually a mixed mish-mash of SS Panzergrenadier and Panzer Lehr. They wear the Panzer Wraps used only by Panzer Lehr Panzergrenadiers yet have SS rank epaulettes with the black and white trim.

The Volksgrenadiers were men that were middle-aged and recovering veterans that were pulled out from their home country to replace the casualties suffered in the loss of army group centre in the eastern front. Sure they might not have been better than normal infantrymen, but they were still soldiers with decent equipment. Nonetheless, they have received decent training and can fight with mediocre fighting abilities compared to more preferrable soldiers. Volkssturm on the other hand originated with men up to 60 years old and born before 1928, when even more men were needed to fight the war. As this was formed at late 1944, the youngest the volkssturm would be is 16-17 years old. These are the people who don't receive standard uniforms, are given last-ditch rifles, and had rudimentary infantry training.

Grenadier and Panzergrenadier Divisions had 9 Infantry Battalions but were organised with the traditional Kar98k + MG42 on a platoon level with MP40s for NCOs and Officers. For Panzergrenadiers, MP40s were more common on a platoon level since MP40s were designed for Armoured units. The STG 44 is a poor weapon for armoured infantry because of how bulky it was. Volksgrenadier Divisions are reformed Grenadier Divisions reorganised into 6 Infantry Battalions due to combat losses. To compensate for the loss of manpower, their numbers are bolstered from Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe regulars who have served the war for years and veterans who have recovered from their wounds, in addition to new conscripts who have formal military training. The main difference between Volksgrenadier and Grenadier Divisions are that Volksgrenadiers are better armed, with almost every soldier being issued an automatic weapon, mostly STG 44 Assault Rifles since it was a cheap weapon to produce. In a Grenadier Company, it was almost exclusively Kar98k, LMG42 with MP40s for the NCOs and officers in a platoon. In a Volksgrenadier Company, 2 out of 3 Infantry platoons in the Infantry Company are equipped completely with STG 44 Assault Rifles and are known as MP platoons or Sturmzug. The third Infantry platoon is also armed with STG 44 Assault Rifles in addition to an MG42 and 2 Lugers and is a fire support platoon.

To be honest, the Volks from CoH1 sounds more German than those from CoH2.
