32 Amps at 240vac =7.6 KWH this means you can charge a model Y 700KW battery from 0% to 100% in less than 10 hours, generally you charge from 30% to 80% which is only 5 hour charge with using 32 Amps charging rate, this allows you to use 12AM to 5 AM electricity rate from your power company, get up every morning with your car charged. you don't need 48Amps which actually doubles the money you spend for parts and install, if you go to 48 amps you need larger wire sizes of gauge 6 and 60 amp service breaker which could cost double, using 32 amp you can use 8 gauge 50 amp service.
Thanks for this video, Mike -- Great information as always!! And yes, I LOVE Tesla insurance...thanks to that Safety Score I've definitely become a better driver -- when I'm not using FSD that is. Haha
Maybe I missed it but did you discuss the different models and the maximum amp rate that they can charge at? I am in the process of buying a standard range model three Highland and if I'm not mistaken the base car can only charge at around 32 Amps or so. My plan is to buy 2 Mobile connectors, one stays in the trunk and the other one stays permanently connected to the NEMA 1450 in the garage. Thanks so much for the overview.
You can use the portable charger at home also, and it’s my less expensive. It’ll charge at 32amps with the 220v adapter plug that it comes with in addition to the 110v plug. Also some electric companies give a steep discounts to their customers on home chargers.
Yeah it’s actually great. Just purchased a long range model Y. Had a trade-in, along with a couple thousand down payment. Low monthly payment as a result.
@myks garage , if I drive my Tesla model y for uber, if I charge it daily at my house to 100% would this degrade my battery faster? Also what’s the life span of the battery for model Y?
If you're using the most of the battery daily, it would be fine to charge to 100%. It only hurts the battery if your charge it all the way to 100% and and let it sit and not use it
The nema 14-50 is like a wall outlet. It would be best to just leave it installed for future use in the garage. If you're renting a house, this would be considered an upgrade to the garage that the owner should be happy to have installed
Your information is so helpful. I want to buy a model Y. I couldn't find a referral code for three months of full self-service. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with the referral number. Thanks
Thank you. Right now Tesla has suspended the referral program, so there is no incentives to use a referral link. So just order one directly at Tesla.com Best of luck!
I don't believe so. It has to be a direct wire transfer to them. They make it easy with setting up your bank account with them, but I've never saw the option of doing a credit card.

The dealership recommended just ordering the car and to the accessories separately. I did the mobile charger but did 3rd party mats.
