I’m being really serious when I say it feels like something is off or missing and it feels like you are missing the old dlow. Maybe it’s because the routine is a bit plain you know, just one drop after another, please take this as constructive criticism to better yourself, thanks.
it's really cool to see Dlow still innovating his style. You can tell he's just trying to be minimal about it, while pushing into the construction of the whole. The most engaging thing about music is knowing how to drive simple & complicated, seperating them for your audience, melding them together in the right moments. Pushing for complexity when you really want to solidify the windows of technical earworms. Dlow is the Dimebag Darrell of Beatbox.
I think he understands music and timing...no matter what genre of music you do, you only have certain timing to work with. You can only do as much as you can fit within this timing, you can layer sounds on top of sounds though but that's also limited to as many sounds as you can do at 1 time usually 3-4 max. So what D-low does instead is structures his songs in a way where he adds new sounds and just fits what he can in within the time while layering sounds on top of sounds. But he keeps it simple at the same time, because you got to be patient sometimes you will want to break the timing just to make more sounds but that's a no no. Sometimes just being patient and waiting for the timing to make the sound at the right sound is better. A lot of beatboxers I hear are very off beat and their timing is off, D-low always does a good job of staying within the timing...Imagine this is a beat 1................2..................3.................4 now basically what ever sounds you can fit in between those numbers and think of the numbers like pauses, drums, bass, etc..
D-Low has ascended to a level of higher beings where no other beatboxer can stand watching his power and stay alive. From now on there are no battles for him. He beatboxes to be an example of excellence
@beatbox lover I think colaps is amazing but d-low right now has just levelled up again. He was already capable of almost any sound in the community and now his structure and music composing has raised once again. He’s making his own songs that aren’t even for battles and his structure is different in every song is does and every round.
@beatbox lover if you think colas could even touch dlow your so mistaken. No body had as much perfection and versatility in sounds as dlow. There is absolutely no one even remotely close to his level
Dlow…this is absolutely ridiculous. What the fuuuuuuuuck this is one of the most difficult routines I’ve ever witnessed. This song structure reminds me a lot of the better modern metal bands with the intelligent use of flashy/complex bits that rarely repeat. Masterfully done.
D low is one of the few beatboxers who inspired me to start beatboxing myself he's amazing and has given me encouragement throughout my time beatboxing
Your live timing is just insane! No mess up in timing during all these different sounds. Perfectly timed like wow, wow, wow 🙌 you smash everything you do
He's more than perfectly timed. He's also perfectly out of time haha. Perfect delays on certain drums and some tempo stretches which make you enjoy the complexity and the timing even more. Just incredibile
@@gabrielebernardi1669 I know what you mean, his timing isn't metronomically perfect. It feels so bang on I would never have guessed just by watching him beatbox and only noticed when watching him layer tracks with the looper on livestreams. My favourite drummers stretch, compress, push and pull in barely perceptible amounts (John Bonham, Zigaboo Modeliste, Brian Chippendale, Greg Saunier, Louis Cole...) and the result is immensely more satisfying than metronomically perfect. D-Low has an exceptional sense of how music should flow, always knows what energy level is appropriate, knows how to incorporate silence (especially in his transitions). He can be as much a maximalist as a minimalist. Always has such positive vibes yet you can feel the danger under the hood.
I just wonder how many tries it took to get this masterpiece recorded, i'd stand in front of the mic for like ages and still not be satisfied, but i guess at this level of skill it just comes out naturally :D
He's probably been practising the routing for months bro - the sounds come naturally but the combinations, structure etc will take time to internalise.
Man theres so much stuff I liked in this: The intro was fire with the tongue flute and crazy bass the liproll combos are top tier This sounds like a legit song still need to give it the car test but its bumping on my speakers This is why I take lessons from this Legend!
D-LOW has not only garnered a jaw dropping set of skills through the years, he has helped craft one of, if not the coolest contemporary art communities . Always evolving, sharing, shining and showing BIG LOVE in a community that has fashioned itself to thrive on passion and mutual respect. Big Sticky Ups❤️
I doubt he would actually perform just as good in bbu than solo gbb live. Don't assume he is infinitely better than everyone just cuz he destroys the mic in gbb, solo battles, etc. Bbu is about the video, story, creativity and the beatbox too. It isn't his one solid category anymore, and he wouldve went up against many people with tonnes of mixing experience. I mean look at how well Zero did... Look at where Heartzel ended his battles... Look at all the rockstars of the beatboxing world getting walloped and beaten. It is not just about skill, and it takes a certain level of finesse that is much harder than it looks to put together a video that would win BBU Rounds. I am not saying Dlow cannot win, but its unfair to say that he would destroy the BBU when you need to consider the conditions he will battle in and what it takes to get through each round. If it were Den vs Dlow or Hiss vs Dlow, then you might have even seen a loss for Dlow right from Round 1. You can never assume somebody is invincible, not in a world of competition, and that is precisely why I think its awesome that he is always practicing new styles, flows and sounds. It is true that he is incredibly talented and a strong beatbox god, but at some points, you have to think more logically about things rather than just fanboying over him so hard. I do not agree that "We all know" that he would win BBU. I would expect anything after what I have seen come out of BBU
yes, I agree that other beatboxers adapted excellently to these new BBU rules, but being realistic d low is one of the best exponents of originality, enjoy listening and his videos and audio are good although that is not my point, my point is that the one who is good at beatbox shows in each and every one of the formats, just give dlow a chance in bbu and we will see ;)
My God, what an insane routine 👀 D-Low is definitely one of, if not the best beatboxer ever. Gone through the years, improved until he became the best overall, won GBB, and then just kept improving and learning new stuff! Still waiting for an official release that includes the part from the first drop of that «Big Throat» freestyle you did live!
Warning: Do not watch while eating. God damn... I mean... Dlow damn! This is... Great. Just perfectly great. Funky, technical, the drums, the "on/off's" of the beat. And the pauses. I feel you master the musical pauses. In other notes tomatoes are not for breathing.
I've been waiting for this since I heard it in the GBB livestream, I couldn't believe my ears and when the showcase was released and Friction (plus something else I think) was cut out... I was kinda sad, but it made it even more satisfying to finally listen to this absolutely great routine.
What a clean sound ❗ If you think that each note is short, sharp and aggressive, you can easily change the last note of one phrase and take it to the next phrase, and the listener can follow the modulation without any discomfort. How to mix the techniques is wonderful ❗
Complex doesn't always transfer to something pleasing to the ear. Many ppl only like something that compels them to want to dance. This one doestn' really do that. I can appreciate the difficulty of what he's doing but this video is no where near my favorites of stuff he's done for me.
Been listening to this on Apple Music since 12am today, couldn’t resist, fucking masterful as always, I expected you to go in order of your first to last release tho, nice to see a more complex newer style release!
