Hey! I'm Alanna - a twenty-something documenting my life as a Canadian living in England.
I share the ups and downs of an expat living abroad and what it's really like living in the UK. It's not always easy, but there's been so many wonderful experiences, too. I post a RUclips video every Tuesday & Friday plus an additional video every Saturday on my Patreon account. I also livestream every Wednesday and Sunday at 5:30pm GMT/BST on Twitch.
Alanna x
My wife and i, are VERY old (i,m 72, she is 60!) and we have been "Following, and supporting you, from the "get-go", and find you delightful, humerous, and truthful, A pleasure to watch!.We were laughing at the fact, that YOU claim the "comfy bit" (where you can spread out).So does she, i sit anywhere SHE doesn't want!.keep delighting us Alana.
Thanks so much for watching!
I always imagined this to be a single story flat! Fun to see behind the scenes at all the iconic filming spots
But she showed us her multi-floor place earlier
Cheers Tushar!
The 'Entryway' as you call it is just called a 'Hallway' or 'Entrance Hall', just so you know for the future!
I love love ❤️ love ❤️ that kitchen dining area!!! So big and pretty! Your home is just lovely. 🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
The answer to the window/ cooler pipe: go to the lumber yard, get a piece of plywood to put in the gap. Drill a hole in the plywood for the pipe, bring the window down to meet the plywood.
As a matter of interest, noticing your brick walls, you can tell an old house from a relatively new one (decades more than just years) by the size of the bricks. As you can imagine older houses had bricks with the measures in imperial sizes I.e. inches and new stuff in metric. Imperial bricks are noticeably bigger than metric and also older bricks are more non standard colour of brick(bit like a dark rainbow style) and also rougher consistency to them, but you get the idea. I noticed your brick wall had quite large bricks compared to what would be considered normal modern sizes. There is also different types of brick depending on the use, bricks for old chimneys had to withstand the hear of the coal or wood fires so they were called engineering bricks I think, this is all layman’s knowledge but again you get the idea. You seem to have a nice home there and thank you for the tour, have a wonderful stay as long as you live there.
Cheers To you both
They also used less mortar, I think, so thinner layers.
I know it's daft but seeing the grey sofa was llike meeting an old friend you haven't seen for ages. It took me back to the early days of A&N, with you sitting on the floor in front of it and apologising for the random stuff shoved underneath it. Happy days. Mike x
😂 Thank you!
Wasn't random stuff, she was signalling to her spy handlers. Now the code has just become more complicated 🕵️♀️😂
@@AdventuresAndNaps No, thank you for your videos, they cheer me up no end. x (PS: Do you find putting an 'x' on the end of a comment creepy? It's meant as a sign of affection but if it disturbs you I won't do it. Maybe it's a British thing.or maybe I'm just bonkers.
Wahey great to see you back!!!
ive recently started getting notifications on replys to comments I made on this channel 3 year ago. Good to see even the old content still doing well
Nice to see you're feeling better. 🙂
It's nice to see your flat fully and your faithful couch 😁
Nice place - like the floors and the brick walls. Having a decent sized kitchen is great too
it's a beautiful flat I particularly love the uncovered brick walls you was making me chuckle with your struggle with the tripod.
Nice stairs, I like the way the go both up and down, a useful space saver.
I love your kitchen, that brick wall is gorgeous!
Flat tour was great! Amen for Ikea lol
Renter is definitely not at the bottom of the ladder of life progression, trust me! 😂
Hope you're feeling better & hope Twitch pulls their finger out soon!
Thank you!! Can't wait to be back on Twitch 🤞🏻
Loved your flat/house. Thank you for sharing! Always wondered what your place was like. Good job! Nice home!!
Those bricks in the kitchen are iconic! Hope you are feeling better
Love the kitchen/dining area, the brick wall is amazing!
It's nice. Thank you for the tour.

Thanks for the tour Alanna. It's great to see your place It looks lovely. And as it happens, next week I have to go to the estate agent to look for something as nice hopefully, as I have to move soon. 👌👍
Glad you are feeling better Alanna.your Flat is very nice,
Ah, so I realised the reason for your absence on Tuesday. You were tidying that cool home from top to bottom 😉👍
You have a lovely home, cannot believe it has been a year, seems like yesterday i watched the moving day video.nice video Alanna.
That's really nice, and being able to work from home is awesome. The brick with the floors & fireplace is very pretty.
Great home! Love the kitchen!
Lovely flat. A great location that it sounds like you are in can make all the difference.
Only just looking at my phone and yay Friday video and reading the title I know it's going to be great so to quote the famous words LETS GO ,oh and hope you're starting to feel better Alanna
Couple suggestions: For the bathtub room - look on Amazon or a local DIY store for a bathtub hose with a shower head on one end and a tub faucet adapter that will fit your tub faucet. You could also probably find a strong suction cup that would stick to the wall and hold up the shower head. For the bedroom window that’s ‘agape’ ( lol ) see if you can get some thick clear sheets of plastic to put up on the inside of the window to cut down on the draft. 🙂
That’s a lovely place, I’m glad you found it and have somewhere peaceful. It’s fascinating getting a different perspective of where all the magic happens
Thanks so much!
Love the exposed brickwork in the kitchen and exposed old wooden floor! Those are beautifully old British things I wish I had in my house.
Bravo! And very well done! I have been waiting for you to do a tour of your flat. I just knew your home was going to be beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanks so much for watching!
Just a word of support: I totally get why you can not "just buy a house". I'm 39 and, finally, last year, my partner and I manage to buy a house. It's a struggle and you can always afford a higher rent than you'll pay if you bought a house to the bank - BUT in Portugal we need to give 10% of the property value upfront PLUS taxes and other shenanigans. More over, I did not have a proper contract with my employer, so no bank would lend me the money. I completely understand you not being able to buy a house. Hang in there. Thanks for the tour :)
Alanna - your kitchen is the NUTS!! ooohhhhhh ❤️❤️❤️we want more Alanna Stylie cookery spots, where you utilise every work surface and use every bit of kitcheny appliance!
Awesome kitchen & dining area, that would put some New Zealand homes to shame! 100% agree that the ensuite is redundant with the bathroom being so close. Rip out the bath and put the shower in there, convert the ensuite into a walk in wardrobe. That would be much better. That's one hell of a lot of shoes for two people!
Really enjoyed your flat tour! Love it!!
Thanks so much!
That is a bloody lovely flat!
The only reason I ended up subscribing to this channel was a random search on Canadian bands apart from Rush. That was suddenly that moment i realised the full meaning of serendipity. Carry on with the random warbles. I love it.
Hi Grey Beast! Lovely to see you again.
I like what you've done to and how you're utilizing the space! Great flat tour, and, thanks for sharing Alanna :-)
Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice update, thank you for the tour.
Thanks for watching!
Hey girl! loved the tour keep doing your thing !
Thank you so much!!
Thanks for showing us your home. Love it!! And yes I did recognise your cider soaked filming corner! I'm inspired to visit Rochester as soon as I can make it. Keep up the great work!
That's awesome, hope you have a great time!
1:30 Wow, the fact you can pick up and carry more that 26600 people at once is impressive to say the least!
Thanks for the guided tour Alanna, your home looks very nice indeed! Good blend of historic, contemporary & quirky!
Great to see where all your hard work & projects gets done! 👏👍🙏
Thanks so much! 😊
Thanks Alanna, lovely place and I too love the kitchen.
As I've said before, really like your presentational style. It just feels like a nice chat with a good friend and there's a real skill in that.
Thanks again.
Thanks so much! 😊
What a lovely place you live in. Lots of room, just no closets :) Thanks for sharing, I've often wonder what's around the corner on a stream or cooking segment.
I used to live in an old home and loved the sash windows, despite the drafts and bad insulation.
What a nice flat - Hall usually 🙂, Lounge, love that wooden floor, think the all white decor is right up my street as well.
Hi, Alanna, I hope you're feeling better, its good to have you back. Great to see the couch again. I can't believe its a year since all your troubles in the last flat, this one looks good.
Thank you so much!
Your flat is absolutely beautiful. Both the flat and the way you have decorated it is just my style...it makes me feel at home and I don't even live there. 😄So glad you found a space that suits you for living and working and you're not dealing with another nightmare! 😵💫
Thank you so much!!
That’s a beautiful home, love the floors and brick work! Also, long love the grey couch!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. Hope you're feeling better.
Thank you!
Your house is so nice! This was such a cool video, thank you for making it! Sorry about all the twitch stuff btw, I’ve missed your streams, hopefully you can stream again soon! Thank you for the video, hope you’re having a nice day and really hope you feel better soon!
Thanks so much!!
Thnx for the flat tour!!
I have roll-around AC unit since my apartment has nothing built-in. I too have a heat exhaust hose (4-inch?) that connects to my window. I also had to do some custom work as my window cranks open and the kit that came with the LG brand unit was meant for sash windows..!! Mine doesn’t have a jet-engine sound, but I don’t mind the “white noise.” It actually puts me to sleep..!!
it's lovely mate, well done
I'm glad the old grey sofa is still serving you well. Thanks for the tour, and I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks so much for watching!
Well done ,loved your video, big flat, lucky girl
Your place is gorgeous. Great to see your recording spots too. 😊
Thanks so much for watching!
Nice vlog. I enjoyed the spinning camera.
No motion sickness for me.
Enjoy your blogs very much, and you have a great sense of humour.
Thanks so much!
Great flat. All that matters is that you enjoy living there, and it makes financial sense for you. If you need more storage, a floor to ceiling storage unit in your en-suite would give you a large cupboard space and not take up much room. Movable room dividers (wood, fabric, wicker etc) would look quite nice in front of your under stairs space. Hiding both the gym equipment and any other stuff you need to keep there.
Great tour. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks Alanna .Your back ... Lovely vid for a Friday.
Thanks so much!
Great tour, you have a wonderful place because you have "space"... Love the canvas in the living room. 👍
The canvas is Gustav Klimt "The Kiss" - not to be confused with Rodin's one (different but great!!)
Hi Alanna,
Your home is very nice, and the kitchen is beautiful. I really like the big peninsula counter with those very cool pendant lights over it. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks so much! 😊
Finally watching your flat tour video. You picked a really adorable flat - I too appreciate the floors, brick walls and age of the property. Strips of foam can help block the gaps in your window, like the window unit air conditioners used in North America. Anyway, thumbs up to renting! Buying isn’t for everyone one. I enjoy the financial freedom renting affords me - I can travel or shop for example while homeowners are using their money fixing their homes.
You have a lovely home there Alanna, I'm particularly envious of that awesome kitchen! I can see why you like the place so much. Enjoy it while you have it. 🤗
Thank you so much!
It's nice to get a look at where people live, especially when those people have interesting content. Good job staying safe - you don't want to have to wade your way through some admiring rabble tomorrow morning 😄😄
Great vid Alanna 👍
Thanks so much for watching!
I’m really digging this MTV Cribs reboot 😜 Thanks for the tour of your home, it looks great. At uni we had a bathroom behind the kitchen so we put the radio on full blast if someone popped to the loo 😅 I hope you’re feeling better Alanna!
😂 Thank you!!
Happy Friday, Alanna! I hope you're feeling better 🙂
Thank you! Not quite but hopefully soon!
Hi Naps,
Kenta definitely approves the flat tour, I had the idea housing is insanely cramped in the UK, except for the mansions of the Duke Crocodile of Kent and Highwayman.
Cheers 🍻
That's a fantastic kitchen/ diner wow
Thanks for the tour of your cool flat, it looks really characterful - I say yay for the aircon ! 😉
Thanks so much!
I' m sure I'm not the only person that that was worried about you on Tuesday. Glad and relieved you're OK.
Thanks for showing us around your flat Alanna, you've got it looking lovely. I particularly enjoyed seeing the grey couch again with its mysterious treasures hidden underneath.
I used to squint and peer closely when Alanna was sitting on the floor, close to that little table, desperately trying to see just what our vlog bestie had shoved underneath it, in the hope “out of sight” was “out of mind” 😂 I was saying to her on the screen, Alanna! Move over a tad to the left, I want to see what that blue coloured box is! 😂
Thanks so much!
What a lovely flat; you can thank the crap UK building regulations for the lack of electrical outlets in the bathrooms. My folks' house has had an outlet in their bathroom for the past 35+ years without issue 🤷♂
I was struggling to think what about British foods could have gotten you banned from Twitch and then remembered the meatball-like food beginning with 'F' and yep, that would have done it 😬
It's great to see you working for yourself and hopefully doing well, Alanna; we're lucky to have you here ♥
Try some insulation strips between the window edge and the air conditioner edge. Keeps the bugs out as well. Go to a sewing shop or sewing section in a shop and pick up some quilt filler. It is cheap and not loose stuffing. It will cover the lower section and block light out. You might even get it to fill the gaps by folding and stuffing it between.
Great video as always Alanna. Your flat is awesome. 🙂
Thank you! 😃
Ah, the kitchen. Where all of the magic/tragic happens. ;) It's our favourite part of the flat too...because of hilarity and comedy gold reasons. :)
As a nice person on the internet gotta say I liked the video. Always find it interesting to watch how people arrange their living spaces. Thanks for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful space, I also love the history behind old properties wondering who lived there before. All homes have pros and cons…just have to compromise on some things . Thanks for showing us around 😊👍👍
I totally agree!
I find everything you say and share so relatable. It's sometimes scary to me!
The return of the grey couch! Great video, hope you are feeling better!
Thank you!! 😊
Love the character that an exposed wall gives.
Love your home! ❤️
Thanks for the tour. I believe your window is ajar. Most people assume it has to refer to a door but "ajar" can also be descriptive of a window.
That is a really spacious flat with such beautiful features. You got a great find there.
The living room is like a cupboard.
I hope that you are now well and got back from Canada without any problems.
Your flat is awesome. I love it. I too love the brick. And I think your Canadian is showing through, I noticed when you said bathroom instead of toilet. But I guess the room with the bath is a bathroom. :)
if you find the hose heats up and makes the a/c less efficient, use foil bubble wrap around the hose. it's easy to work with, affordable and won't burn.
I agree that you do have a lovely home and over time it'll only get better.
I think the 'loo reviews' are hilarious and maybe I just watch a lot of RUclipsrs that happen to live in or be from the UK but it seems quite a UK thing to do.
Also those wood floors are a treasure and it shows how great craftsmanship used to be.
Great job!
Thanks for watching!
I like the brick wall style in the kitchen. It reminds me of the old 80's/90's US sitcoms.
Loving the minimalist look. Very cosy. I’m in the process of making my parent’s house my own after Dad’s passing at Christmas. You’ve given me some good ideas. Our house (my house now I guess) was built around 1870 and is a mid terraced Victorian ‘two up, two down’.
I bought my house 35 years ago.
Its an ex pub that was built in the early 1700's so I have solid 24 inch thick solid stone walls.
Nothing is square, flat , level, plumb or easy.
Gorgeous floors in the living room.
Omg, that is a gorgeous flat!! 👌🏼💗😍
Wow you’ve got a really nice flat. A good size. I get the idea of renting vs buying, but for many people renting suits them. For a start when you own a property any maintenance costs land on you but if your renting you don’t have those worries.
Your home is very beautiful. Thank you for the tour...
Thank you!!!
the wooden floors! the exposed brick walls! absolutely stunning 😍
(I can tell I'm getting old, I would not have even thought about this five years ago 😭😭)
Thanks so much! 😊
