- This is a piano accordion tutorial that was requested by a number of people... It's the classic French musette 'Domino'! Please tell me what you think of it :) Thanks a lot! Lucy.
This tutorial is for the arrangement of Domino found in 'Musette Melodien' by publisher Holzschuh.
Observed errors
I'm aware of a few minor errors post uploading
1. Introduction: I mention that the bass is an alternating bass waltz pattern. This does not actually begin until Section 1 of the song.
2. The '4,3,2,1' countdown is a little off in Section 2
3. The coda hands together part should be introduced as 'Coda hands together' and not 'Section 2 hands together'
4. Section 2: at 12:50 the letter should be B B rather than E E (thank you Joseph for pointing this out)

Due to circumstances I have used my old accordion again after 40 years. This video tutorial has inspired me again to play and try to learn this peace. It will be a challenge, practice and to memorize the piece. Thank you!!
Wonderful! All the best. You can do it :)
Lucy, nice to see you again playing on this video tutorial. Great Musette french song! :)
Thanks! This one is really popular and I had a few people ask. I hope it's helpful!
Lucy, thank you so much for this awesome video! You must have invested a lot of time and energy on it. The index links at the bottom are very helpful! That's cool you were able to link it like that to specific spots on the video timeline. This resource will be so helpful to learn parts 4 and 5 of section 2. Thank you again for sharing of your time and talents. You rock! :)
Phillip
Hi Phillip,
I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It's very encouraging to know that this is going to help you. You're right; I did spend a lot of time and energy on this but it's worth it for comments like yours! :)
Excelente tuto Lucy 🎉😢😮
ok,... I"m actually going over this song from the Musette molodien book, AND , looking over this tutorial. I have a question for you. looking at the music sheet, the 5th line 4th measure,... do the bass buttons really go from G to F# all the way to B, or can you play the F# counterbass above the D? Also,... the hm chords, after the F#,.. it sounds like you omit them, and just play the B and C on the keys alone, before going into the B with the F natural.
I know,.. sounds a bit confusing,... but, I"m really excited to learn it from the book, but I'm getting confused on some of the bass notes. thanks for the help!
Hi Lucy, I have a version of domino that has a huge jump from em to fm. Yours seems more comfortable to play.
I just learned the intro here and I will implement that with the version I learned. Thank you.
Lucy, what happened to your Patreon plans?
Gracias por él tutorial magnífico trabajo, por favor me podría ayudar con la partitura
The sheet music is in 'Musette Melodien' by publisher Holzschuh
@@accordionlucy gracias
Ya lo encontré
muy lindo lo estoy estudiando de que pais sos
Danke, Lucy! Tolles Video! Sehr hilfreich! Von mir gerne Abo.
Interesante, me gustó
Thanks for the tutorial. I think it would add to the value of the tutorial if you could play a short version of the song FIRST, so we know the completed sound before you break it down. It would only add a couple minutes to the video.
Hi Gary. Thanks for the suggestion. I've included a card at the start of the video, and if you click it, it will take you to a video of me performing the full version. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback; I will consider adding a brief snippet in future tutorial videos for ease.
I watch your videos many times. You are very talented.
Thank you Don, I appreciate that :)
You've done it again! Taken a difficult sounding piece of music and broken it down into bite size chunks! Wonderful Tutorial!!!
Great job! This is one of the best tutorials that I've ever seen. Thanks a lot for your time and dedication. Kind regards, Felipe
Hey Felipe. I appreciate the comment. Take care!
You are a genius at making this video. Did some one teach you or your just clever at the the computer and the accordion. I always enjoy you videos. You and Phillip have a great future in the accordion world. I sincerely wish you all the best for the future.
Thanks a lot Don :) No one has shown me how to do this. I have just spent a LOT of hours sitting at my computer learning by trial and error! I really appreciate the feedback.
@@accordionlucy .. You learnt yourself. I am very very impressed. Are you teaching accordion yet ???
@@donquattrocchi9472 I have one student but I'm too busy for any more!
@@accordionlucy ..Hello Lucy, if you do not mind me asking were you born in December ?
Don Quattrocchi April actually :)
A very inspirational video! It shows us the way discipline should drive our practice: slowly and independently on every hand at the beginning. THANK YOU very much!!!
You’re welcome. Thanks a lot for your comment :)
Do you offer online lessons? You’re a great teacher.
Thanks Ryan :) If you're still interested you can contact me via my website lucyriddett.com
Lucy fantastic just what i wanted you to do. You are going to keep me busy again for the next couple of weeks. Hope i can get it lol. Thank you so much x
Hey Steve! I’m so pleased to know this will help you. All the best :)
A bit late to the party, but thank you so much for taking this request! This tutorial has been absolutely wonderful. The repetition and the notes you speak to us are very helpful. It would also be nice to hear notes from you regarding your personal insight in expression
Thanks a lot for your thoughtful feedback. I will consider in the future making a video on expression. That’s a very good idea.
Excelente!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you :)
❤️Thank You so much Lucy for this amazing tutorial
No problem 😊 Thank you for watching.
Just last week I was given in class this piece to practice. This just came at the right time! I'm going to learn it to impress the teacher
Corati perfect :) I really hope it helps. All the best!
Hello Lucy, or G'day, I think it is. Great job! This series of instructional videos are absolutely wonderful. This one shows nice improvement over your other instructional videos in several ways. I think the time indexes are a great idea for now the student can go directly to the part that they need help with. You have included the source for your tune. 'Musette Melodien' is one of an entire series of really nice accordion music books published by Holzschuh. With this one. we actually get to hear you speak. Your voice and accent is very pleasing, at least to my American ears..
Hey Anton! Yup G’day to you! I always love seeing what you have to say :) thanks for taking the time to write up a very encouraging comment. It means a lot!
Nagyon Jó !
:)
Thank you!
Hi Lucy! Your amazing... I love all of your songs! I’ve found several beautiful pieces to play on my accordion, because of you!
Tutorial tip: show the sheet music below, for the measures your teaching, to help the visual learners!
Thank you for your videos
Hello! Thanks so much :) I'm glad to help.
That's a great tip and something I have considered, however I am not the arranger or composer of the arrangements that I'm teaching, so to produce the written work on screen could get me into copyright trouble. The book is Musette Melodien by publisher Holzschuh, so I encourage the visual learners to purchase the book to assist! Tha
nks very much for watching and providing the feedback.
This lovely tutorial makes me want to convert to piano accordion. I have one in the shed ..... maybe I had better dust it off. You have really simplified the lesson Lucy.
Cheers Lester, your comment means a lot :)
Thank you for making and posting this really clear tutorial. One thing I'm not sure of - in Part 2, bass part, the notes are Fsharp, B7, B, Csharp, Dsharp, E, B, G, E. Where are you playing the G, please?
Use your 5th finger (little finger) to play the G root note, just above C. It's best demonstrated at 26:19.
Thank you for watching.
@@accordionlucy Aha! Thanks for clarifying that, Lucy.
Lucy super:)
Excellent tuto... Mais certainement pas pour débutant.
Yes, you are correct. This would be a challenge for the beginner. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts!
I love it
I'm glad you do!
