    The day has finally come! All of our preparations have led up to this day. I finally make my way to Willow Springs International Raceway to attend to my very first NASA HPDE Event. Did not pass tech inspection due to my rear brake pads were below the minimum requirement by millimeter or so. In the process of changing out the brake pads, the rear driver caliper fell off by accident and ripped the wiring harness from the e-brake assembly. Had to manually opened the piston in order to put in my brand new Project Mu’s Club Racer brake pads. The next day, techs passed me. 1st session went great, getting a feel for the Type R for the very first time was an amazing experience. 2nd session did not go as planned as I brake late before the apex at Turn 9 and went off track. Luckily I went off smoothly and nothing got broken. Session 3 I enter it a little more cautiously and pay more attention to my brake zones and drive lines while still getting a overall feel for my car. I wanna give a special shout out to Jaime Garcia of RaceFFpod and Pro Driver Carlos Valenzuela and colleagues, for helping me with my brake situation, will always remember you guys for showing me the way.

    Kudos Bro. Very few folks ever drive at speed on a track. Even few CTR owners make it. You are part of a small group :) Keep at it. Keep learning and having fun. Look forward to seeing how you do at your next track weekend.

    I suggest Streets of Willows 1/6 mile track for a few sessions and take Big Willow next. People say Big Willow is beginner friendly, but it is not.
    What helped me is - Proper track tires and brake pads. The CTR is already a great car but you need grip and confidence at high speed corning.
    Best of luck.

    type R is best on track - so many used for roll races but glad you got her on there to see what she can actually do

    I’m at 51 track gays now. I remember my first day I was nervous and scared as shit. Now going to the track and wining 7 podiums on time attack, I’m at the point of just fine tuning my CTR.
    Congrats for having the balls to do this. We are a small group.

      @@IchiiMedia Just keep going and learn from your mistakes on the track. I’m from NorCal and my on my YT page I posted all my PB on the track. I do plan on going to SoCal soon. I hope to run into you.

      @@IchiiMedia My best advice is to focus on tires, suspension and brakes. Power doesn’t mean anything until you learn how to handle your CTR first.

      @@XGen_23 absolutely right, brake upgrade episode coming soon. But yeah, definitely wanna get a dedicated track wheel & tire setup soon

      @@IchiiMedia I recommend Hankook RS-4 for tires. For brake pads, I use Project MU Club Brake Pads and Paragon two piece slotted rotors. Also do cooling upgrades first by getting a big radiator. CTR overheats so much.

    Is this race every year? Is so whats it called?

    • @IchiiMedia
      @IchiiMedia  Месяц назад +1

      @@MTOTW_Tour these events are through NASA racing, depending on your local region or what track your willing to travel to, depends on how often these events are held. But usually 1-2 times a month.

      @@IchiiMedia are there usually that many cars? Or do you just lucky

    • @IchiiMedia
      @IchiiMedia  Месяц назад

      @@MTOTW_Tour yeah it depends on who shows up that day, but if needing room just hang back and create some distance in between your other co drivers to have a little more room to play with.

      First sign up to be a member online, join nasa tab, create an account, pay membership, once done you can check your local region for events, like in California there’s SoCal and NorCal regions, select a date at a racetrack your interested in joining, I would select HPDE 1 2-day event to get the full experience of the weekend. Once all is done, all that’s left is to read the rule book and prep your car the best you can, let me know how that goes for you and which date/location you pick, might see you there.
