Excellent video mate, well done. Very well explained in a clear voice (without annoying background music) that even an old geezer like me can follow because you don't talk like 60 words a second like some others. Liked and subscribed. Thank you
Thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback. I have been back and forth with back ground music 🎶 and it seems it doesn't add very much to the user experience. I am thinking about doing a video on boolean operations next. Hopefully you'll enjoy that one.
@@Adventuresincreation Although I have no clue what "boolean operations" are, I will watch your video and hopefully will underdstand and use them. I am very new to FreeCad and you'll be my teacher LOL
I will explain it but essentially it is an operation between two bodies that is either additive, subtractive or multiplying (common). So you can create a model that is a combo of more than one body. It is great way to create more complex shapes.
Thanks for another great video, thought attempting to follow it "now" (aka24.07.10) on linux, using FreeCad.v.021.2 has proven to be a bit of a challenge ;) It looks "quite different", and oddly enough I feel like I'm missing things rather than the "other way around".. But I think I got the gist of it :) Best regards P.S..A thought about the "oddity with the rapid values", which by the way still persists in "my" version... Could it possibly be the case that when You enter the "movement"the entered number (for some odd reason) is "interpreted" as mm/second, but then it is "automatically recalculated" and displayed as mm/minute. I.e. it "simply"multiplies the entered value by 60 ??
Good suggestion, I will check it out. I am just completing the rebuild of my cnc so I will be creating some videos with the updated cam workbench which I think is missing some stuff 🤔
Have you thought about making a video on how to work with Texts/Shapestrings within FreeCAD? I am greatly enjoying your tutorials and have gotten somewhat used to FreeCAD. It's a bit quirky at times but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. I am assuming that other CAD software is equally unintuitive when it comes to being "art-sy". Embossing or engraving text has been a bit of a learning curve for me. Thanks for all the videos!
Thank you Cathy, that makes a lot of sense. - I am not sure why we have to rapid in seconds and feed in minutes. I will bear that it mine for the future.
@@Adventuresincreation With a CNC. For me it isn't clear where to use which bits. For outlines I can use a V-bit, that's simple. But what if the image contains filled parts. Do I have to switch to an end mill and make a separate path for it? Also the placing of the SVG onto a model (coaster) isn't clear for me. To see the whole process would be very helpful
Really enjoyed all your videos on freecad. Am thinking of getting a cnc router, what brand would you recommend? I see the sainsmart has a fairly cheap one but don't know if it works with freecad tool paths. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the feedback. I personally have an MPCNC I think which one you go for is dependent on what you want to do with it. If you are looking at cutting metal then rigidity will be key. It's hard for me to recommend without knowing more about the use cases.
Ok you didn't show the actual engraving and cutting with the tool changes. Does freecad automatically stop the machine and hold thee steppers on the tool change or do you have to do something else ?
I have followed you and everything went as plan. I just loved it, sometime later I came back to this lesson because I had forgotten some things to refresh. What is your technique for doing tool changes on the mpcnc? I noticed you created a post processor that deals with tool changes. Would you pause the cut, move to a clear area, change the hit, do the z touch probe and continue the cut?
Yeah, what I do is pause. I then move up in the z axis, change the tool, move over from the cut area to the stock and set up on the touch plate. It works great if you use octoprint. I have been doing a lot of it lately.

One question please :
Adaptive clearing, start depth 16mm, step down 5mm. How can I prohibit the endmill to lift up, when it changes the steps?
You can change the safe height to limit the amount of lift

15:49
8 (mm/s) x 60 (s/min) = (480 mm/min)
7 " 420 "
450 " 27000 "

If you want 450 mm/min, you would enter 450/60 = 7.5 (mm/s)

Why some operation don't have step down.
it just depends on what has been programmed
Very important step at 6:10 to pick 2D geometry for a new job in path workbench.

Super vidéo mais avec FREECAD 20.1 si je respecte à la lettre votre programme j'ai des erreurs.
Interesting, what errors do you get?
Great video! I look forward to seeing more in the future. Is Freecad able to replace F-carve completely?
Unfortunately freecad can't do the f-engrave stuff yet. It can't do the edges that have variable heights. (vironi maps)
