To paraphrase Seneca, I regarded religion as true when I was a child, I regarded religion as false when I was a teenager, and I regard religion as useful now that I’m an adult. I’m not religious at all, but I’m not going to advertise that fact if it doesn’t serve my purpose to do so. Religion is a useful psychological fulcrum to move the world of individual believers if you have the stones to move them. It’s a coping mechanism for death anxiety (Heaven) and for dealing with injustice by one’s betters (Hell) like any secular one (Utopian state vs climate change apocalypse, for example). Not to say that that’s bad, just that it’s not special or desirable in any sense except the Darwinian one, since religion survives and propagates into the next generation.
Im Catholic and went to church every Sunday until i was 12, i revolted against going and my grandfather punished me by never taking me to church on Sundays after that, but when i become a father for the first time i suddenly realized that im conservative and actually have strong opinions about a lot.. i think you can only believe in somthing by realizing or genualy understanding and acceptance.. young people today are being psychologicaly attacked in a way that did not exist when people lived whit God..
To say Eastern Orthodox Christianity is "a symbolic language" doesn't really encompass it All of life is a pattern ( as Pageau says - a fractal pattern ( he means a self-similar pattern ( mathematicians might quibble on this definition.. but, most people understand what he means when he says this ( like a tree and branches - self-similar ) ) ) ). Eastern Orthodox Christianity is kinda like a Rosetta Stone Participation in the Orthodox liturgy = learning the language of life Reading the Bible / Church Fathers = using Duolingo, Participating in the liturgy ~= Living in the country of the language Having an existential moment = experiencing the pattern first-hand
directly brushing up against the pattern is freaky freaky shit happens when you do like crazily uncanny things and you're always left wth a sense of - wow, I'm on the edge of chaos one little misstep...
16:25 if people are becoming more religious, this is spot on. I have come to understand many people close to me go back to traditional rituals, without declaring that their ritualistic beliefs relate to anything metaphysical in reality.
The problem with Beyond and Evil is, good is receeding and Evil is being thrown into relief. We can see it now. We can't pretend it's not threatening us. So, yes, I bet people are returning to religion. It's a good place to fortify.
Something pointed out to me by a very big history buff friend of mine. America has undergone a massive religious revival pretty much every 100 years or so. You had a mass of protestant missionaries in the 1700's, the great awakenings in the 1840's, the televangelist movement in the 1950's. So who knows, we may very well see the trend continue.
I am a faithful believer in our Lord Kaolemos, God of Stupidity, I go to countless kindergartens, middle schools, high schools and colleges to spread and profess his teachings! :D BRAIN BAD, NO THINK, LIVE LONGER, SMASH PROBLEM!
I went to church for the first time ever just the other day, don't see myself becoming Christian but it was a very wholesome experience. I had gone to Hillsong once but that was actually insane.
This juicy one has really made me think. That instead of chasing other culture's ways completely, while abandoning our own may be a bad idea in the Long run. Our western culture has a lot of beauty underneath and beyond he wokeness, ego-centeredness and declining spirituality. It's up to us to learn from our mistakes and care for the culture that brought us up!
It’s cool to see how Uber deconstructs and show the weakest forms and traits of Islam and Christianity and immediately bring forward the strongest values and perspectives of the religions right after. It provides a whole spectrum of ideas onto the scene. This vid exemplifies Boyo’s best work to date.
On the woman question in the west, I think it's a lot more natural then we think. In a way, woman have always had privileges that men have not, all throughout history. Women have always been considered inherently more valuable then men. And especially in the Christian world. But this phenomena as become perverted due to the technological world we live in now. We have not properly adapted to this yet.
When times get tougher, people tend to turn more to religion and spirituality. The less control we feel that we have in our own lives, the more we start turning to a higher power. We feel a need to find meaning in our suffering as an important coping mechanism. That's why you don't find many atheists amongst 1st responders & soldiers. Because they are constantly dealing with the tragedy' of life and things that are outside of other people's control. As we suffer, we want to find meaning in that suffering. Religion and spiruality seems to offer the best way to do that.
I went back to religion, because it provides me with something I need: meaning and consequences. Also, I came to realize that religion is the only way to combat liberalism. Not on a political level, but on an esoteric level, you can only destroy the internal liberal one day at a time. Most atheism is just basically "I will do what I want, when I want." All the intellectualism surrounding atheism is just post-hoc rationalization of the desire to do whatever you want. At any rate, christianity is not gonna die anytime soon so thats pretty good :)
31:42 there are lots of religions that are not about life, forget this "paganism" that just means not christian, each cult was it's own religion and they came in ALL shapes and sizes.
I went back into paganism. I recommend looking into survive the jive and operation werewolf with Paul Waggoner. Also would like to add , one thing that really helped me feel like I made the right decision to follow this path was your video on how Christianity was Romes woke movement.
Out of curiosity, what are the core texts of paganism? Is there an unbroken line from the pre-Christian days to now? I ask, because it doesn't seem to me that there is. What I have seen from the neopagan movement is a desire to piece together a belief system from the scant material remains left from these ancient cultures, without much success.
@@Safe-and-effective I think you are looking at it the wrong way. There are no “texts”, pagans didn’t have texts, their beliefs came from a time when written records were impractical or non-existent, save for Ancient Greeks, Latins, and Indians. They didn’t have a concept of “religion”, the world view was in turn with nature and was synonymous with history. Neopaganism is reconstructionist and uses archaeology and cross referencing of what little written materials and accounts we have to piece together a comprehensive cosmology and mythos. There isn’t really a necessity for an “unbroken” line as the belief system has always changed and adapted to the needs of the people that followed it, it is a living belief system. A lot of pagan beliefs and practices survived in Catholicism and Orthodoxy, which can be “de-christianized”.
@@monkeymoment6478 First off, thanks for taking the time to answer. Second, though I hope to listen from the OP himself, you have certainly clarified some things. It seems to me that the point of returning to a tradition is to take on a clear path, against the ambiguous', relativistic society we are in. If a path is fragmentary, that is not clearly defined, how can one successfully return to it?
@Safe-and-effective that was the right question to ask. The answer is unfortunately not a yes or no answer. Neopagans and neopaganism have a very shaky foundation if they have one at all. Being that it is a "reconstructionalist" religion, alot of people just make things up entirely or get hung up on historical details with little emphasis on the living parts of a religion. That said, I do think it does exist. Firstly, our laws, our democracy, our western philosophy, and even Christianity have preserved the heart of paganism in a massive way. Most of the Greco-Roman ideals are still alive and well, Norse mythology is also well preserved, and to the east we have Hinduism, which, while not entirely "unbroken" had remained an indo european pagan religion for thousands of years. In short, it's not as easy as going to a church where you have everything laid out before you, but true paganism can still be a viable solution. Furthermore, I would argue that it is this original western culture that holds the components needed to actually help and change things within our society. But that's another long argument on its own.
What Jesus taught is that our our body is the true church. The kingdom of heaven is within if you want true salvation on a very deep level. I think for people who went through a lot of losses and trauma, even getting abused by these traditional institutions will not want to go back to them.
@Uberboyo while im at it, i would also recommend paul wallis and neil douglas klotz. Not quite as relevant as jorjanis work, but they both have very interesting perspectives on christianity that i would love to see you get into
Conviction, then, is no part of a sinner’s salvation-but the clear practical knowledge of the fact that he cannot save himself, and is entirely dependent on the saving grace of God.
It is similar to how a cognitive scientist I've discovered ( dr. John Vervaeke) interestingly defined religion having a set of psychotechnologies. Not an end for themselves but a set of inherited tools. I invite you to take a look at his meaning crisis series, I think it might greatly complement your works !

They’re not. The western world is rapidly becoming atheistic. One example of someone turning to religion, i.e. Tate, is not indicative of the majority of people in general becoming religious. I’m unsure where you’re finding any data for this statement, if you’d like to show it.
Atheism is like a red giant star which is expanding while it’s core is collapsing in that it really provides next to no benefit for the individual or the community. Right now the conditions for a change or a collapse are being configured under your nose - the mainstream western religions are being stripped down of the dross and being taken over by hard core types. What is going to happen to European welfare when the pension crisis hits in the next year. The states will fail - that is certain . The religions may well rise again - they have a good chance

In case of my country, religion is most significant on the political level, as the politics are usually what keeps people religious when they're not practising, or makes them involved with the religious institutions in the first place. Christianity is unique, as it has two sides, namely the New Covenant, which focuses on the individual and controlling the animal-instincts, similar to Buddhism, but also the Old Covenant, which focuses on the community and controlling the external environment, similar to Paganism.
I’ve been Catholic for about a year now. Living with Christ is a mystery that continues to unfold. There are ups, downs, and moments of true peace. But best of all, the hope in eternal life in Heaven with Jesus.
Hey bro. You should really do a podcast. I’m 200% sure you would absolutely kill it. I was rewatching your interview with Andrew Tate and you were really fucking good there. I can really see you reaching Joe Rogan heights. Just a friendly advice.
Uberboyo, have you looked into Integral Theory (Spirituality, Psychology..etc) via Ken Wilber? It would be fascinating to hear your experience exploring this framework which lays out an evolution of worldviews….premodern, modern, postmodern….and beyond those….higher integrations. It lays out and honors the strengths of each rung on this developmental ladder while observing its limitations, risks…etc. Going forward to a new level can mean taking a deeper look at prior stages in order to honor and integrate them.
it's Peterson-style meta-modern "faith": "W-Well, I *act* like I believe God exists." essentially, people are tired of just being confused, and at the same time they have become more cynical about political narratives, so they're retreating to 'just do what [insert religious tradition here] says' as a safe alternative. they'll take any source of moral certainty they can get, even while they know that they're just pretending to believe in it.
I'm at a strange point in my life and I don't know what to do. I despised Christianity all the way up until I was 18 years old (Because Christians annoyed TF outta me and I hate the concept of hell) but over the past few years it's been drawing me in heavily. It started when I read the Narnia books and then when I read the 4 gospels, they had a big impact on my heart. But I am fighting with all my might to resist it, because I suspect that if I became a Christian it would be a massive cope and side-effect of loneliness, helplessness and desperation (and of course some of the dark reasons Nietzche pointed out). And my Christianity would be very heretical anyway, so I wouldn't have a big community of people. Any advice? I could really use it. Thanks!
I had the same impression growing up around American protestantism, but I have found the Catholic Church, at least in my area, to be filled with beautiful, wholesome, strong Chad families. And none of that cringey confrontationalism.
Brother, I would say, give It a try. Ironically, i think It would be a greater Cope to resist what you perceive to be true Just because you are afraid It might be Cope. Were u drawn to faith by the promisse of community i might agree with you, but you have been touched by its truth, That is a much deeper calling, one o believe you should answer. May God be with you either way Man, i wish you well.
Fantastic! We don’t need anything new just a life enhancing reframe. If you let go of fear based perspectives (fight flight reaction is problematic, too high arousal, unless in an immediate threat) and listen to yourself from a compassionate, kind, loving perspective toward self or other. The way forward is then effortless, however we need reminded often to stay intentional, conscious, which I guess is ritual.
Its much more simple. Tradition and religion are a new counter culture. In the age of inclusivity, equality, acceptance etc, its not interesting to younger population to comply with what is officially accepted. Who are the new "cool" kids now? So called sigmas, chad, trads. Young people are drawn to things that are not as welcome, that are seen as odd and weird. Few decades back you were basic if you lived normal and traditional life, now you are cool if you do it because you fight the mainstream culture of the modern day. Of course not everyone is like that, but on average you can see such waves of behavior. I agree with you on most points, but people dont think that deeply about things.
Listening to this alongside "Old Library Sounds | Rain , Thunderstorm and Howling Wind Ambience | 3 Hours" by New Bliss, goes together like cookies and milk. edit: along side to alongside :D
Christianity has been through this before tho many times. Islam seeks to conquer the material world but Christianity seeks to conquer the heart of man that's why Christianity will come out on top.
I think you got really close to noticing the parallels between the decadent culture and the horror, and the religious culture and the virgin. Ultimately New Life comes from outside, it comes from the other, but if you let in the outside without wisdom and without remembering your origin you will receive death instead of life.

I don't know a statistic, but it is obviously true that people are interested in people like Jordan Peterson. 10 or 20 years ago, would you have guessed that one of the most popular series on youtube would be a bunch of Bible lectures?
We've certainly had a lot of extra help in despising ourselves and in encouraging a lust or fascination with "the other" (in the case of the west) what with the infiltration of our system by the desconstructionists and critical theorists

I may be biased (having a very similar take myself) but this is the best take ive heard on religion and the arguments to be made for each. Im definitely gonna subscribe. I havent heard of you before today but i am very impressed! Standing ovation!
To say Eastern Orthodox Christianity is "a symbolic language"
doesn't really encompass it
All of life is a pattern ( as Pageau says - a fractal pattern ( he means a self-similar pattern
( mathematicians might quibble on this definition.. but, most people understand what he
means when he says this ( like a tree and branches - self-similar ) ) ) ).
Eastern Orthodox Christianity is kinda like a Rosetta Stone
Participation in the Orthodox liturgy = learning the language of life
Reading the Bible / Church Fathers = using Duolingo,
Participating in the liturgy ~= Living in the country of the language
Having an existential moment = experiencing the pattern first-hand
directly brushing up against the pattern is freaky
freaky shit happens when you do

16:25 if people are becoming more religious, this is spot on.
I have come to understand many people close to me go back to traditional rituals, without declaring that their ritualistic beliefs relate to anything metaphysical in reality.
The problem with Beyond and Evil is, good is receeding and Evil is being thrown into relief. We can see it now. We can't pretend it's not threatening us. So, yes, I bet people are returning to religion. It's a good place to fortify.
Really enjoyed this. 👌🏻

Man, I love listening to you, you big brainy beautiful bstd.

High technology and total dependence on it changes the way people behave and not in a good way. Ted K warned about this
Because of the meaning crisis. But interestingly, religion is perennial
There's been several meaning crises in history

When times get tougher, people tend to turn more to religion and spirituality. The less control we feel that we have in our own lives, the more we start turning to a higher power. We feel a need to find meaning in our suffering as an important coping mechanism.
That's why you don't find many atheists amongst 1st responders & soldiers. Because they are constantly dealing with the tragedy' of life and things that are outside of other people's control. As we suffer, we want to find meaning in that suffering. Religion and spiruality seems to offer the best way to do that.
The distinctions of horizontal development vs vertical development (check Integral Theory) can further expand this conversation.
Great job mate

Man you are something....You words are sharp
@@Safe-and-effective
I think you are looking at it the wrong way.
@@Safe-and-effective Books are for idiots. Go live your life nerd.
My faith was always there, but was lacking practice, now its gone into 5th the last 12 months, and I am at my happiest in those 12 months also!!!
What Jesus taught is that our our body is the true church. The kingdom of heaven is within if you want true salvation on a very deep level. I think for people who went through a lot of losses and trauma, even getting abused by these traditional institutions will not want to go back to them.
I would love to see you interview jason reza jorjani
actually, planned to do it soon on a channel called break the rules!

"rapidly becoming" well they've been for the last 200 years, now the numbers are more stable, this allows for small revivals
@@Gm-ce5kg i don’t think so man…the numbers are still increasing. Of course it isn’t going to be within just a few generations, however, with the new ability to transfer information instantaneously via the internet, people are asking questions and receiving answers. @@Aisatsana1971 y know i think you took the quote in the wrong sense, he never said EVERYONE gets more religious, he said "pepole", i understand it can be interpreted as "everyone" but saying lots of pepole become religious just means that, lads, folks, persons, so it also states the possible decrease of religion overall is not a purely downwards diagram

Hey bro.

I’m 200% sure you would absolutely kill it.
I was rewatching your interview with Andrew Tate and you were really fucking good there.
I can really see you reaching Joe Rogan heights.
Just a friendly advice.
good video, made me think.
Going forward to a new level can mean taking a deeper look at prior stages in order to honor and integrate them.
it's Peterson-style meta-modern "faith":
"W-Well, I *act* like I believe God exists."
essentially, people are tired of just being confused, and at the same time they have become more cynical about political narratives, so they're retreating to 'just do what [insert religious tradition here] says' as a safe alternative. they'll take any source of moral certainty they can get, even while they know that they're just pretending to believe in it.

May God be with you either way Man, i wish you well.
are you familiar with the religion (creativity) of Ben Klassen?
Self and other
Its much more simple.

My parents are both atheist but my older sister and I are both becoming more christian because of the clear moral decay here in Canada
This is the way.
Would love to see you talk with Destiny.

I dont think the Christian God will come out on the other side of this. Islam is a beast of the times. That will surely go as well.
Could you provide a single statistic to prove more people are returning to religion?
"it was revealed to me in a dream"
cmon man dont be a nerd, he said he spoke to pepole who did, personnal experience as always , even those who wanna make you think they tell some kind of "general truth" who are hiding their clown noses, can speculate the numbers are more stable than the last 200 years of atheismisation (made that word up) but doesnt mean folks can convert , they dont show in the numbers , what to care of that ?
muh statistics!
I don't know a statistic, but it is obviously true that people are interested in people like Jordan Peterson. 10 or 20 years ago, would you have guessed that one of the most popular series on youtube would be a bunch of Bible lectures?
The first Man who forged the first empire was Sargon King of Akkad worshiper of Innana the Goddess...
at 48:42 was the pinch thing unconscience or political?
We've certainly had a lot of extra help in despising ourselves and in encouraging a lust or fascination with "the other" (in the case of the west) what with the infiltration of our system by the desconstructionists and critical theorists
And he said "an end to life we are not quite sure, if not WHAT THEN"
Order out of chaos.
When things start to get uncertain a structure system is what people will look for.
Thank you Reverend UBoyo.
