ah... YUI, my first ever idol and the one who catapulted me into Japan's music industry, I discovered her from Bleach, an anime. She was a prolific singer songwriter back in the 2000s, she almost broke Hikaru Utada's record of consecutive No.1 Oricon charts. Her lyrics are full of life experiences that are simple but well versed, it's like she helped you remember the important things. Also she has a library full of her diaries and journals. She went on hiatus, then eventually got married and gave birth to twins. She ended divorcing her husband and got custody of her twins as well. She returned with a band in tow, called Flower Flower, which is an experimental rock genre. Right now, she still makes music but isn't recorded. She composes music just to sing for herself and most importantly, to her beloved twins and some are her lullabies to them.
Thank you for reacting YUI. This video is from Hong Kong live in 2011. She is a very mysterious and charming singer-songwriter. She went on hiatus after this, and when she reappeared she was revived as the vocalist of the band, yui. And she's back to being a solo singer now, and she's working as YUI. Check out TheFirstTake to see what she's all about.
When asked about her favorite or inspirational singer-songwiters Su-metal said: "I have always liked Yui san." (From the Tower Records' Sakura Gakuin graduating senior interview, March 2013.)
Thank you for picking up Yui. She was a girl who loved playing the guitar and composing. She also writes lyrics, of course. She was a really pure girl, she was a bit out of touch with the world of adult entertainment, but she sings catchy and great songs. Please listen to "LIFE".
Yui was as big as LiSA has been recently in the second half of the 2000s, but she had a phobia to perform in front of crowds and it is very strange to find content from her performing. She did a couple of times de Budokan though, but I guess she had to fight hard those days.

Yui's songwriting is very good. She also got a very interesting child-like voice that is so unique

I could definitely tell she has that because her voice was a little shaky especially at the beginning
