Quick practice session with every new ball. I NEVER have the first shot of the day be with a ball fresh off the press. Always warm up with something else first so I don’t get tricked into thinking a new ball does something different than it actually does due to poor execution.
With a new ball I almost always have the same process. First take the ball to 500 with the CTD pads and then reset it to the box finish grit. Then take it to a practice session with two other balls, one below where I think it’d fit and one above. After that play around with surfaces. Then to either league or a tournament. This ball would go through the process. I want to test this against my proton physix. Seems like a new proton.
I usually take a new ball into league and bowl all three games with it to see how it handles all the transition. If it's usable there, then it comes to a tournament.
Wonderful vid from Jungo, thank you JR PS! Qustion; Jordan, would you use any of these or something else if you were playing a 3 game series on that pattern? It looks really good for ya; mid lane read, not to jumpy, controllable. Good match-up in my opinion. Anywho, thanks guys! 😊
I walk right out of the pro shop onto the lanes, usually lane 6 and bowl a few games. Right out of the box. I'll know what I need to do with it after a few games and whether I can even use it.
I practice with a new ball before i use it in league. I personally look to see where there new ball would fit inn my arsenal via the numbers before i buy.
I got the Sublime Focus 2 weeks ago. I haven't used in league yet still testing it out. I normally test it a few weeks then use it. My tests usually consist of changing the surface. Right now 4000 works well. My next test is polish.
I study the specs of the ball thoroughly and choose the ball based on having most knowledge of it as possible. Then I’ll throw it straight out of the box in league. I try to know almost exactly how it fits before I throw it. But that’s not always possible
For example, i got myself 2 900 Global Cruise Controls (Korean exclusive), one with 3¾X4X5¾ (2ls) and 2000 grit surface, and the other 5¼X4½X2¾ (2ls) with polish. Finally, the middle of the bag Eternity Fusion (Korean exclusive) is a 4½X4X4¼ with a 4000 grit surface. That's what i do when i get new balls.
You’re trying to feather the hell outta that pro. No way in the world the pro and the max are played on the same line in the fresh hence the inconsistent hits near the pocket but not in it. Ion pro received too much hype to me. Phase 2 still the perfect benchmark. Ion pro is mediocre.
new balls - I take them to three different houses and roll 3 games at each place. This gives me variance on oil volumes and lengths. I'll usually bring two similar cover items that i already have and see how it compares.
I have the ball drilled with my usual 40×4×30 dual angle. I practice with it on the house shot comparing the ball reaction with the others I'm currently using. Also use it on the sport shot challenge league.
I stick with roto grip pearls, lefty, basically already know what im getting but i always resurface 2000 grit into polish (reacta gloss is gross for me) and throw during practice, some balls i get all 3 games, some i get 2 and some i get 1, i stick with the balls that are good enough to ride all 3 games, exotic gem and attention star, the exotic can run all 3 even with left traffic where the star can only go 2 before i drop to hustle if left traffic. Jr pro shop jumped on the meme also.. ion pro max 😂
Honestly the storm ball names are as bad as the iphone names “ion pro max 💀”
I prefer the colorful balls. It makes them easier to read.

I get warmed up by throwing my benchmark ball then I start on my benchmark spot with the new ball to see how it reacts for the first time

Your ball roll has gotten so much better.
Description of the video is for a different ball.
When are we going to see Mitch again?
I like to get a new ball like 2-3 weeks before a tournament. Gets a little oil in it and tame it down. Then I see where it fits in.

Hey Jungo. For new balls, I normally throw a few practice games with it, like 6-8 games before I start using it in league.

Pretty much as different as two bowling balls can be.

I always with a new ball throw 2 games to see how it reads

There’s no such thing as an Ion Pro Max 😂
He says Ion Max in the video (at least at the start), so it was probably just a brain fart, haha.

These twister pins leave a lot of splits when you go dead flush
