In one of the final matches of WM21, he was officially crowned as the champion-to-beat, along with the other new top guy. At WM23, his match against an aging iconic veteran benefited him and furthered his status as a legend-in-the-making. Those factors are a rationalization of him being the face of SD in the Ruthless Aggression Era. Unfortunately for him, a portion of the fanbase began to reject him later on in the PG Era and noticeably received negative reactions from some of the arena audience. Anyway, I concur with you on the argument of him being the face of SD.

To be fair it's because (at the time) everyone wanted Daniel Bryan to get the big push for WrestleMania, then a few weeks before Royal rumble Batista shows up and gets that push instead.

To be fair it's because (at the time) everyone wanted Daniel Bryan to get the big push for WrestleMania, then a few weeks before Royal rumble Batista shows up and gets that push instead.
Yeah, I think it was more that they didn't wanna see Daniel Bryan get screwed out of his push. When used right, Batista is good, but no one wanted to see him overshadow the guy who had worked for it the way Daniel had.

This theme was bad ass. Reminds me of attending house shows in the mid/late 2000s with Batista main eventing the shows & this would be playing after the show as we all made our exit. Fun times.
Batista is a prime example of why I don't connect with WWE fans anymore. Wrestlers that deserve respect are just not shown it anymore.
