he was the only character that did not bother with mike's comments..he always acted dwight like he was in his own world ignoring mike's nonsense when he was behind or near him and mike would say some stupid stuff ..everyone else cared so much about what mike did or said..dwight could care less...i liked that about dwight..he was not focused on mike usually to the point of having to nitpick his words like jim did ..shows he neevr thought of mike as above him like the others did as their boss and he had his own train of thought...

@@Xx_Tuberculosis_xX Dwight was in charge (technically second-in-command but that’s irrelevant) of opening up a store for the company. However the task was set by the former CEO, Jo Bennet, and the current CEO, Robert California, wasn’t a fan of the idea, because the company’s products are so poor that a store would bring out those flaws even more (compare selling something over a phone versus in person - it’s easier to hide with that distance). So to save face Robert was planning on blaming Dwight for the store’s inevitable failure and firing him at a meeting. But Jim kept Dwight stalled long enough so another character, Todd Packer (who, by the way, is the worst - well-written, but terrible), took credit for the store. Todd ended up getting fired, Dwight silently left once he realized Jim was right and they went back to Scranton.

Speaking as a guy, a lot of times it's better to drop some truth bombs and leave rather than stick around and let them argue it. We guys have that terrible issue of "attacking" the problem we're dealing with, we find reasons to justify why the person trying to help isn't right, why we deserve it, why it's terrible, etc. I'm sure women do it too, but it's very common for guys to shut this kind of help down, especially for a guy as proud as Dwight.

You know I've realized that Dwight is constantly portraying himself as such a masculine figure...and yet he has cried, whimpered and wallowed more then anyone. Very head to head with even Andy and that guy is a drama queen. Honestly, such a great character with depth and complexity
All masculine figures whimper and wallow; most just do it in private where no one would ever know. Though obviously, not being afraid of your inevitable emotions requires more strength than bottling them all up and being afraid of other people's reactions to it.
In ancient times when men were expected to be warriors and fight and kill men were also expected to cry and show emotion. A man that could still cry despite the horrors of war was one who had not lost their humanity despite that. Those who lost the ability to express emotion and empathize were those who had given up their ties to their humanity. It make sense for Dwight, whose upbringing is incredibly antiquated, to express that duality perfectly. He is a hunter, a warrior, a killer, yet he is still very much human. Its great that we get to see his growth over the series, adapting and evolving as a character.
@@RemixedVoice Controling your own emotions requires more strength than letting them go all out. It's not about being afraid of anything. It's about keeping it under control, to make sure your decision making stays rational and optimal.

" *I'M NEIGH!* "
