Hi all! If you have any questions about the University of Portland or the UP Nursing Program, feel free to ask them here! I'm now a sophomore at UP, and wish I could've done a better job vlogging back when we were all on campus, but for now let me know what questions you have!!! - xoxo jess
@@sophiecooper the food was great the first month or so, but then it got tiring. the asian food offered in the main dining services were not good. for example, pho was not pho. however, this is hopefully going to change. i know that there is a whole committee dedicated this year to change the cultural foods on campus to be more representative. what got me through was Mack's Market on campus, they have food and snacks from local vendors and they were really good at being diverse!
Hi!! I got into the up nursing program and I’m sooo excited because up seems so great. I’m just a little confused on how to find a roommate, because I don’t see any Facebook groups or Instagram haha so what did you do to find a roommate/ friends??
@@elliebecker4691 Aw congrats!!! I believe there is a facebook group, but I don't know the name. However, the Instagram is @uportland25! I found my roommate on that instagram and messaged her to get to know her better. As for friends, I met some of my very best friends through the nursing workshop! Hopefully that helps a bit, but let me know if you have any other questions!
i just got accepted to UP for nursing, im so excited!! im really scared about making friends at college though, do you have any tips for clubs and stuff to join specifically at UP to meet new ppl??
Congrats love!!! I totally understand! It's really scary to step out of your comfort zone to make friends, but I promise it is so worth it! We have a LOT of clubs to offer on campus, but honestly join what interests you!! Everyone is really nice and clubs are a great way to interact and meet new people! For me I joined the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) because I wanted to connect with my culture and meet new people more, but it really depends on your interests!
Hiiii! I got accepted into UP and I got in the school of nursing. I’m so excited and I just want to be prepared and so if you could let me know the courses you are taking rn as a nurse major would be helpful or if you could make a video on that would be better:) stay safe and hope all is well!❤️
hi!! congrats that is so exciting!! i would love to make a video about the courses! i might turn this video into a Q&A, so if you have any other questions for me i would be happy to answer!
hi! currently most students are off campus. we are all online with a couple of exceptions with some courses. dorming is an option, but space is limited!
do you have to go to weekly mass? i want to attend university of portland for their nursing program but i am not really religious so i was wondering if you have to go to mass. i love your videos btw
Splash Curry hi! No you don’t have to go to weekly mass. I’m not religious either! The university is very inviting and inclusive about all religions and there is no requirement of going to mass. At University of Portland you have to take 3 theology courses, which are classes where you study religion. I think they’re very informative, and still in class the professors and students are very open and inclusive about believing in religions or not! Thank you so much btw!!
Jess Trinh thank you so much! I'm only a sophomore in high school in north Portland and I am getting more nervous to attend nursing school at UP lol. Is it stressful to do nursing school?
If fact, the law requires that they have an LGBT club like all other Universities. They’re not allowed to discriminate based on religion, race, sexual orientation, etc.
I love dorm life! I really recommend staying in the dorms for the experience. Staying the dorms allowed me to have freedom and independence that I never knew I needed. I also loved all the memories I made from living on campus.
Jess Trinh do u recommend fields or Lund family? I love those but I feel like it’s so far from everything. And are the communal bathrooms in the dorm far from the actual room?
Kayl Vids oh my gosh I’m so sorry, I’m not used to getting comments on my videos! I highly recommend both. I loved visiting my friends in those dorms and I always though that they were really nice. Those dorms are far from everything, but it’s worth it in my opinion :) As for the communal bathrooms they aren’t far from the rooms. For my building, my room was actually in front of the bathroom haha. I rarely bumped into people in the bathroom though, so it was alright.
Hello Jess, I just got accepted to U of Portland Nursing. I am an Asian from California. Could you let me know the Asian % for BSN program? Thank you! Love your videos ❤️
Hello! I don't know the exact % number. The Asian population isn't the biggest at UP, but it definitely is a great community. There are a lot of wonderful cultural clubs on campus.
I lived in Mehling! For my freshman year, the nursing exams took some getting used to. However, after studying a lot and finding out what works for me then it was okay!! One tip is to go out of your comfort zone and find what makes you happy on campus! I know it can be scary transitioning to a new school and not knowing many people, but if you step out of your comfort zone and find what makes you happy it will help a lot! For example, this could be through clubs, social events, or even finding hobbies that you like to do :)
Applying was really easy for me because I applied through the Common app. I don't remember the exact requirements because I applied through the Common App, but I submitted my college essay and act score. I think they take either SAT or ACT. For dorms, there is no price difference based upon the dorm you're in. I highly recommend Lund and Fields, however these dorms are the furthest from the academic buildings and dining halls. In my opinion, it's worth it :)

Oops. Wikipedia says it’s because students protested, not required by law.
one more question, does the laundry room provide detergent or do you have to use your own?
How is dorm life? Do u like staying in dorms

What dorm do you live in? What part of Nursing program is hard for you freshman year? Any tips for Nursing freshmen? :))

Jess Trinh Thank you 😊 I Can’t wait to meet new people on campus!
How is applying? What are the requirements, any advice?. Also for dorms, which hall is the most recommended (cost wise, location wise, etc.) .
