    In this video series, Pete Dowsett breaks down the mix of an alternative rock song.
    It is intended as an introduction to rock mixing. The song is mixed with a modest set up, with a 2-in/out interface, open-back headphones, a simplistic routing structure and a minimal amount of plug-ins.

      Audio Production Tips I am, albeit solo. I’m in the process of putting together a home studio, so I’m gradually working my way through your channel looking for tips. Way out of my league, obviously, but inspiring nonetheless. I hope you’re doing well. 🙂

    here's a piece of advice that will help you when EQ'ing. Don't pan your instruments before doing your EQ. It is much easier to be able to make reliable EQ moves when the instruments are in front of you, its harder to do hear accurately when they are panned left or right. I typically leave panning until later down the line. Always keep checking your mix from stereo to mono to hear if the mix collapses (guitars lose power)

      I usually like to use a mono button on a console or monitor controller for that :)

      @@audioproductiontips yes, the majority of DAWs have a stereo to mono button on their final output channel. I use it a lot
