This song is near perfection. From the imposter syndrome expressed, to the longing to be better for a mate, to the admiration you have for that mate. All these years and I still connect with all of it like when I first heard it.
Its about perception and comparison but ultimately about control and the urge to attain control. Your perception is within your control. It is within your will. Peace.

Good for anybody who finds new music. There is so much out there, we can't hear it all, or we're not in the right place to hear it at the time. To the other comments, the movie creep came out in 2014, the song came out in the end of 1992. 🤔
It doesn't matter what Thom sings because he has such a *hauntingly beautiful* voice. *HOWEVER* absolutely *NO ONE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO HOLD A CANDLE TO HOW HIS VOICE PERFECTLY FITS THIS SONG* because he's just that talented. ❤
Just imagine, two people like this meet in a room. Both feeling unwantet, unseen, just not fitting into this world. But there is this moment, they see each other. Not just looking at each other but see and they never stop seeing. They reach out and dance together. They go together for 7 beautifull years. They live their own way, finding comfort and peace and connection. That's what happend to me. ❤ But he left this world unexpected way to young. And now I have to ask myself, is it possible to find connection like this again? He was so fucking special. 😢
Do not hide. The world needs us...the calm, the quiet, the crazy, the out of the box thinker the hurt ones...You name it. We feel alone, because we tend to hide. We are many and we have to show up.
this is my uncles favorite song. he always jokes about how he is a weirdo and makes little digs about himself which no one really notices. i listened to the chorus to this song and i finally understand how he must feel. he has no one to talk to except my parents, still lives with his mum, broke and can’t drive. he hardly sees his daughter because her mum is horrible to him. he even said when he’s with us he does more here within a week than what he would have down with if a year at home. people are always bullying him and he is a sensitive guy but doesn’t show it. the jokes people make about him are what he actually thinks of himself. he thinks he’s a creep and he doesn’t belong. he says he’s a weirdo and doesn’t really know what he’s doing here. i think this shows how much you can tell about a person just by their favorite song
@@tompramanaaccount8892 that’s deep. i think you don’t need friends to be happy and things will get better. your still quite young so if you give it a few years things might start to come together
Unfortunately, this happens all to often. I've done it myself and continue to do it. Say you're a bad person, disgusting, fat, stupid, useless, etc. enough times and it starts to feel like your reality. My therapist said it like this. What you say about yourself is how you'll end up feeling. If you can frame things in a positive frame of mind, it can do wonders. I'm stupid because I never remember to do X or Y becomes I forgot to do X and Y this time but next time I'm going to do better. This simple rewording of every negative phrase I think has done wonders for me. I'm by no means "fixed" but it has really helped me understand the power of a positive mindset.
im alone and doesn't have friends still live with my mum despite being 30, never had GF, but still happy, happiness is a choice, i know someone who has lots friends and nice career has family of his own, still commit suicide. you can be happy with simple things, appreciate what you have, like your health and family. cheers.
every line of this song, hits me. i understand, i feel it. the song is almost implanted into my lungs. it’s like a musical of the thoughts in my head, beautiful; really.
Literally same. I was in a very depressive state for about 2 or 3 weeks and a half. A lot of things had happened then, like losing a very VERY close friend who felt like a sister to me. she was comfortable holding hands with me, she was comfortable with letting her head rest on my shoulder..etc. I had also moved schools for the second time which made me feel like my heart was ran over by a thousand huge trucks. It hurt. It hurt a lot. All I would do was lay in my room and cry to this song and a bunch of other ones. I related to this song A LOT and I still heavily do. I’m better now, but this song just brings me back to that time. I love this so much, and I still bawl my eyes out to this.
There was a time I listened to this song cause I like the beat and the instrumentals, and the emotions as an art piece. Now I'm listening to this song because it's so relatable, I feel like I'm always on the outside looking through a window at party that everyone was invited to. I wish had some advice anyone else, I hope you all make it through the door.
I love this song so much. My son is playing this this song on the drums for a rock camp he is doing and the singer has, from what my son told me, performed it many times live. My son says the singer is amazing. The concert is tonight. Can't wait!
@@ExistenceIsCringe an honest advice, don't try to be something you're not, but try to be the best version of yourself. Don't chase partners, let them come to you.
Well im going through a very tough time and this song does relax me. Edit: 1 year later and I'm at the best I've ever been, honestly on one hand I feel nostalgic about last year tbh but on the other hand I'm just enjoying life now. And for all those guys that are going through tough times too, don't worry, everything gets much better just be patient, after all, it's the sad times that make you value the good ones. Edit 2: Yeah 2 year mark and it just keeps getting better guys, I've found a loving gf and have found loyal and good friends, this year I'm graduating and I'm actually looking forward to the future. There are still some bad days but in contrast to my first edit or the time I wrote my comment it's an amazing change man, I wish nothing but the best to everyone and to those that are going through something, I trust that you can go through it and make the most of life.

This song hits hard... both for myself and people I've loved who have felt this way for years. But the words " I don't belong here" are true in more than one sense. We don't belong in that mindset, it's a lie and a hole that will never let us out unless we decide to become who we truely are and love ourselves as equal to those we love.
This song gives a vibe that I feel everyday I’m in public… I love this song… thanks for posting it on RUclips… it makes my day better every time I hear it
Heard this song (acoustic version) for the first time via GOTG 3 and immediately fell in love with it. Decided to give the original a listen and from 1:00 when the electric guitar kicks in I shouted "oh yeah!" I feared that this might happen, loving the original more than the acoustic version 🫥

This song literally explains me being an outcast just some weird clown. Someone that no one even notices but then one day you meet your dreams. Whoever is going through this I’m here to tell you that you’ll see it one day. Someone who is there for you. Life will be better I promise.
i have social anxiety and i relate to this perfectly, i believe this can be a social anxiety song, just think about it... "couldn't look you in the eye" "what the hell am i doing here" "i don't belong here" "i want you to notice" "when im not around" "i want a perfect body" (people with social anxiety care about how they look physically since they always feel judged
I remember getting absolute CHILLS when the "What the hell am I doing here?" verse came in. This song is like a liquid mixture of self-awareness and acknowledgement of hopelessness, continuously swirling until the song ends. It's like we're having a peek in the unstable mental state of someone, where the end of the song is the end for US, but not for that someone. It's incredibly poetic seriously I love this

Your self is waiting fir you to fall in love with her. Then you share that love with others. Forgive yourself for judging yourself so harshly. Youre human. We are all flawed. None of us worthy. Love yourself first and the world, life will follow suit.
“I don’t care if it hurts I wanna have control” that really speaks to me I’ve felt like I’ve had 0 Control over myself for this whole year. 2023 will be better
Don't listen to these guys. Future @rohanandRianne0101 you're very special, even if it feels like the other way around. The mind has a way of feeding into negativity from itself, and from others, Don't eat negativity. Negative thinking is a habit, and habits are practiced, and if you practice negativity a lot, You get damn good at it.
I feel like I relate to this song in some way or another. This was my mom's favorite song. Ever since what's been happening in my life, I've done stupid things and I shared things that made people look at me a certain way. I've done things in the past that made people not like me in school. Im starting 10th grade this year and I want to give myself a new brand. I want to be better than I was before. I want to be a man that God created me to be!
i know! its beautiful and captivating.....just draws you into this great song! i love it! the music, vocals, lyrics, his fabulous voice, his intense emotions.....intense desire for her, she seems to be out of his league....he wants to be in her league....his intense feelings for her cause her to run....the sadness of the loss of what might have been....of what he wanted it to be.....he will never have the chance to know her.....😢
To those talking about the meaning of the song, quote from song facts: "[Thom] Yorke says this is about being in love with someone, but not feeling good enough. He describes the feeling as, "There's the beautiful people and then there's the rest of us." " For the uninformed, Thom Yorke is the frontman for Radiohead. It does have a meaning. The meaning is the feeling of inadequacy
For me it's feeling isolated, feeling like an outsider, an imposter, feeling social anxiety, feeling out of place, but also I feel it's a person desiring someone so beautiful or handsome. But they are so unobtainable. No one really has a perfect body or a perfect soul. It's like standing outside of a crowd and feeling worthless. It's a sad but cleverly written tune.
that is me when I was in high school, like no ones love, wants, and care about me.. until when I reach in college , I'm trying outing myself in the shelves and I realize that its okay to be alone because it gives you peace of mind
@@faizhaalihbuyuni2342 I am sorry to hear you felt that way in school. I work in a school. I always encourage my students in drama lessons, it's their safe space to be themselves, work together, accept each other and trust to boost their self-esteem, worth and confidence. I also work with autistic pupils who often feel out of place and misunderstood. I was always drawn the geeks, the odd balls and misfits in school as friends. They were far more interesting than the popular girls. The popular pretty girls were bullies.Funny how the geeky girls turned out to be clever, successful, blossomed to be beautiful inside and out. The populuar ones just got pregnant early, look overweight and ugly now on Facebook struggling as single mothers lol. I am sure you are beautiful soul inside and out. I like to be lonely and spend time by myself. I think it's healthy for you. I do not need constant validation from others.
it’s alr, i can somewhat see why it can be confused as metal to some. you do have a good sentiment though. i listen to metal and certain tracks are just calming.
This song always stands with the Outcasts. Like many I felt alone and judged, its just how life was for some. For me I felt like I have lived as a MC in a visual novel, Yes I am interacting and yes I see what is going on but I have no bearing or worth to others, like I only exist to further the story. This song resonates with those of us who just didn't "feel" Right.

This song is near perfection. From the imposter syndrome expressed, to the longing to be better for a mate, to the admiration you have for that mate. All these years and I still connect with all of it like when I first heard it.
