I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
Yeah, I retired due to disability, make barely over the poverty line. Checked on food stamps and it used to be you could make less than 136% of the poverty line, just thought I could make it on my own. Checked this year as getting harder... Now, if you are under 60 years old or have children living with you, you can make up to 200% of the poverty line, BUT...if you are over 60 years old, you must make LESS than 85% of the poverty line... If I remember correctly, poverty line sits at $14,480 for most states, I would have to move to Hawaii or Alaska to actually get help, thought we'll, maybe I could get help with housing, yeah, 3-8 year waiting lists anywhere near a safe place to live.... Much sorter waiting lists in a dangerous place, go figure. Not sure what kind of work can be done from a recliner or a bed, but I am trying to figure that out... without being g a spammer or something stupid like that... I can walk, just not far, already had 2 back/neck operations, need more, but can't afford them, same with hearing aids, Medicare doesn't help pay for them, or my glasses. Worked a lot of my life, until I became disabled, and what do I have to show for it? NADA. Paid taxes in for all the things I can't even get help with...
This is redickulous. Rent is 600. In a bad neighborhood. Then utilities. 400. Then water bill 149. Then gas if you have a car. And maintenance. Then food. Then toiletries. Then medicine. The list goes on and on. Even people who make 700. A week are hitting food pantries. The whole world has gone mad especially the government. They want the poor to suffer. It's redickulous no one can live on 700. A month. With all the bills and rent this is insanity. Raw insanity. .
Yes it is. I'm flummoxed onto what to do. I need to move on from a relationship and be on my own. I'm getting a housing voucher but I think they take 30% of your income to pay the rent. I only get 690.00 a month. I would like to sell some crocheted items on Etsy to make some extra money. I don't know what to do. Should I just set up a 'business'? Am I going to screw myself over? My soon to be ex is offering to help me with it. Be the business owner and pay me. Put in his name. He is good with finances and business. That ties me to him and I have to trust him. I suppose if it goes sour it wouldnt be that big of a deal since I won't be making enough to store in an account that he could steal from me. He would be getting paid to manage the business for me too. Please someone advice me on what I should do. I want to set this up this weekend because I'm moving on afterwards. We have peace between us at the mkment.
The big problem with earning any money on disability is that you put yourself on an expedited evaluation schedule. This means being reevaluated more frequently than normal and subject to more scrutiny and harsher standards.
It’s my understanding that, if you sign up for something called Ticket to Work then it will stop all reevaluations while you are working. Perhaps The Disability Digest could address this issue? Thanks
@@daragentry751 this is something I read on the website as well. I was a little confused about the way it was worded though. But since you brought light to the subject I too would like to know more about it in depth.
they base it on the type of work you used to do /how long you worked that type of work and your age and why your on disability and are you see your doctor regularly are you taking your meds young person more than likely you will go thru scrutiny because of the abuse
@@marjn1030 I’m not certain that’s true when you are enrolled in TTW. My immediate family member has been enrolled for over two years and has not yet been reevaluated (knock wood).

Thank you Brian. I have joined and gotten a call from your organization that was very helpful. I watch your live shows as much as I can and am sifting through old videos. Thank you for being patient as I understand you have explained some things previously. This is helpful.
I am legally blind just got on disability in November and I was told I could only make the $970 but when I research it says over $2000 and it’s hard getting info from social security they seem to treat you like you’re a deadbeat not sure what to do because what I get and trying to work isn’t enough to survive
You can in 2023 make up to 1,470….however, after 970, it triggers a Ticket To Work Program. Here’s where it gets dicey, the TTW program takes any 9 months of work within a 5 year period….unfair, yes, but they count any income within that 5 years over the 970 toward the TTW program. So if I’m 5 years you have 10 months over 970……they’ll try and kick you off. Advice, NEVER to over $900 to be safe
Im legally blind and i sold 2500 dollars worth of items on stockx for the whole. Does that count as earned income and can i file taxes and get the child tax credit and will the effect my disability

Could anyone tell me how in this world a lady on disability is supposed to live please I need this info and many do I’m sure? I no it’s hard hard on the ones with a job but think of the ones on a one time a month check for 700 or 900 a month and the ones with no home because of that and that’s what they want I really do belive it and that is cold hearted wrong and evil. Everyone should have at least a room a building something safe to sleep eat bath use the restroom and have privacy and peace and not have to worry or wounder if they gone lose it! It’s aweful 💔🙏😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Did not disappoint! ❤ Can you do a video on using the using the gig proceeds to fund a retirement account like a Roth? What about LLC to SEP IRA? If one wants to avoid Fed income tax on their check, they’ve got to stay under 25 K. It seems there’s a pretty tight needle to thread. What do think?😮 There has got to be an avenue to build wealth for those who are older than the ABLE account qualifiers. Thanks!
Hi Brian great work and your a wonderful help even though your right you can earn 970 and under and work 20 hours and under and it’s totally legal however working at any level can muddy the water if your on disability remember if someone works they are notifying Social Security it’s great when one is honest and showing they have nothing to hide however Social Security will bookmark that you are working thus making you a prime candidate for a CDR as doing the Ticket to Work program is a double edge sword because they will see it if you can work 20 hour’s a week you probably can work 20 more and try to bump you off the program it’s totally within your rights to work a little but can be a tight wire walk

@@CanImakeamilliondollars well you can try to earn up to the 970 that is legal just risky also if none of your circumstances change you will be approved for Georgia housing assistance but apply at the 2nd month don’t wait until the 3rd as issues can arrive and not approve you on time plus if your on SSI then you should be enrolled with Georgia Medicaid if so hopefully your on a Medicaid advantage plan like Humana, United or some plan like that you could then talk to your case manager to help get you qualified for other forms of assistance it’s just if you are on the Original State of Georgia Medicaid your options will be so much more limited

I only get 1100 every month I know because I’m young and they don’t believe too much of my disability but due to working so many different jobs and getting treated like shit. I ended up giving up on the workforce life and just going on disability and helping my fiancé, but the problem is I can’t even afford simple things with only 1000 a month by the time the month comes I owe money
Yes, this is what I need to know. I just want to sell some random crafts online. I don't want them taking my money dollar for dollar. I only get $690.00 a month! That's not even enough for renting a 1 brdm apartment at fair market value here for example.

Since the pandemic I've made maybe $3k a year. I do background acting in Hollywood. Am I gonna get in trouble?

I worked and reported it to disability, my income never changed until after 4 years I filed my taxes every year because like I said I wasn't trying to hide anything so I thought hey, I'm good then that fourth year I filed my taxes and was waiting on my return I received a blank check and a letter 3 days later from disability saying I never reported my income which was a lie so what they did was they took my taxes for that year and put me on a payment plan for $100 a month which they deducted from my disability check every month for about 5 years until they were paid back for their mistake.

i'm on disability but its hardly enough to live comfortably. i heard that the three main penalties of having ssdi is 1) i can't have 2,000 in the bank. 2) i can't make more then 1,200(i think) in total of work, and after working 6 months of trial period i'd be kicked off. 3) gross income and dividends don't count agianst the disability. now for my question. could i trade stocks scalping the market as "gross income" and then have a broker transfer any of my winnings to my robinhood stock market account for dividend income that way? i thought that was a good idea instead of flipping cars and jewlry and picking up trash for physical cash.
It sounds like you're looking for ways to supplement your income while staying within SSDI rules, but there are some misconceptions in what you've heard. SSDI has no resource limit (like the $2,000 cap you mentioned, which applies to SSI, not SSDI). The income limit for SSDI in 2024 is $1,470 per month for substantial gainful activity (SGA), and working above that limit could eventually affect your benefits after a trial work period. Regarding stock trading, capital gains from trading and dividends are not considered earned income, so they won’t count against your SSDI benefits. For more information, you can watch this video: www.thedisabilitydigest.com/how-much-i-can-make. To get started, go to bit.ly/34wviJY.
I know people who drive Uber who get very generous mileage rates for tax deduction on 50mpg cars I know 80 hours triggers a trial work. But if you only count the hours you're physically driving that's what you're actually working so it might be doable

I have ssdi and have used I think 6-7 months of my trial work period on ticket to work in the last 2 years but haven't worked consistently. I wanted to know because I'm being pressured to try to work even though I'm really not able to do so anymore and the ticket to work program says I am going to lose my ssdi as a result of leaving ticket to work program. (2) During ticket to work, would taking a community college class to become employable count as SGA? Would the same class “online” be safer so as not to trigger SGA? The rules are different based on which tyoe of disability you receive. I would have liked to hear both. There are two types, SSDI (social security disability income) and SSI (supplemental Security Income).
If you work for just a month while applying for or receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), it's important to keep in mind the income limit. For 2024, you can earn up to $1,550 in a month and still apply for SSDI benefits. If you're already receiving SSDI, you can earn up to $1,110 in a month and still keep your benefits. This may be Potentially an odd case, What happens if a person on SSDI - age 63 - I think their retirement is at 67 - - and they have accepted employment income over the level allowed-- Since they are so close to full retirement - will the same rules still apply - - And what if they max out the nine months - - or Unable to continue working before retirement as a result of illness will, they need to get an attorney to have their benefits resumed? With ageism so prevalent, it would be difficult for a 66 year old to obtain employment *note, the individual is under continued medical care. And, hopes to continue employment after retirement dateline.

For 2024, the monthly earning limit for non-blind individuals is $1,550. The 20-hour rule is not typically enforced, it's more about your earnings. For more details, watch this video: ruclips.net/video/lfuF8tYSrhY/видео.html.

Hang in there-seeking help could provide the support you need to move forward. For best results, I suggest that you take advantage of a FREE Disability Digest membership because it includes a step-by-step disability approval course and live support to help you get approved. After your Trial Work Period (TWP) ends, you enter what's known as the Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE). During the EPE, you can still receive full SSDI benefits for any month your earnings are not considered "Substantial Gainful Activity" (SGA). For 2024, the SGA limit is $1,310 for non-blind individuals and $2,190 for blind individuals. However, if you consistently have earnings above the SGA level, the Social Security Administration (SSA) may determine that you're no longer disabled. It's important to report all work and earnings to the SSA to avoid overpayments. For more information on how work affects your Social Security Disability benefits after the Trial Work Period, you can watch this video: ruclips.net/video/AoZ-M1iEovo/видео.html.

Yes, but consult your work comp attorney because certain language is required to be in your worker's compensation award letter so that your award is amortized over your lifetime resulting in only a small amount offsetting your Social Security Disability back benefits
I heard from my disability lawyer who’s been doing this for over 30 years that if the amount is under the monthly SGA of $970 for 2022 then you don’t need to report it to the Social Security Administration because it’s under the monthly SGA allowed amount and not considered “work”. Is this accurate?

I worked as a peace officer for 25 years until an injured leg put me out of work. Because of all the misinformation I almost took a job that exceeded the 970 a month. Most lawyers will tell you it’s 1350 a month without telling you about the “ticket to work “ program that I want no part of. Good luck.
@Christina-Gisela That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well
@Christina-Gisela I will give this a look, thanks a bunch for sharing.
Raw insanity. .
Thanks for the contribution

Hi Brian great work and your a wonderful help even though your right you can earn 970 and under and work 20 hours and under and it’s totally legal however working at any level can muddy the water if your on disability remember if someone works they are notifying Social Security it’s great when one is honest and showing they have nothing to hide however Social Security will bookmark that you are working thus making you a prime candidate for a CDR as doing the Ticket to Work program is a double edge sword because they will see it if you can work 20 hour’s a week you probably can work 20 more and try to bump you off the program it’s totally within your rights to work a little but can be a tight wire walk

i'm on disability but its hardly enough to live comfortably.
i heard that the three main penalties of having ssdi is
1) i can't have 2,000 in the bank.

I know people who drive Uber who get very generous mileage rates for tax deduction on 50mpg cars I know 80 hours triggers a trial work. But if you only count the hours you're physically driving that's what you're actually working so it might be doable

For best results, I suggest that you take advantage of a free Disability Digest membership because it includes a step-by-step disability approval course and live support to help you get approved. The Free course has saved many up to $7,200 in legal fees.

So what about investing in any other passive income? Does it matter what that passive income is? For instance, investing in a restaurant.

My problem is that we have 3 autistic children that are nonverbal and level 3. After their benefits come in and we pay bills we are left with just enough to barely survive day to day for food until the next month. When I work every dollar I make gets deducted from the benefits. I go up over here they go down over there. So it keeps u in a bubble u cannot get out of. Its not fair and its wrong to special needs families. How can I work and make money to where I do not affect my children's benefits or will that ever be possible. Thanks
I started working for Uber and need help with this so i can stay on ssdi?
For 2022 you can earn $970 a month and keep your Social Security Disability benefits. The $970 is gross if you are a W-2 employee or net after expenses if you are self-employed filing 1099.

Hello sir I have a question is it safe to use TikTok to earn a little money while on disability and what should be limited I just want to know since I have TikTok.
can you own Bitcoin or Polygon if you are on SSI-SSDI
Only earned income can affect SSDI benefits, and investment income isn't considered as earned income
Is it 20 hours a week for 20 hours of month
🌹💙 I have a couple important questions, any advice would be greatly appreciated: (1) Is it true that as long as you stay below the monthly trigger amount ($970 as of this video), and/or don’t exceed eight trigger months, you’re allowed a 60 month trial period? (2) During ticket to work, would taking a community college class to become employable count as SGA? Would the same class “online” be safer so as not to trigger SGA? I know everyone’s situation is different, but even a general idea would help. Thank you kindly. 🙏

I make a total of $841 with SSI and SSDI combined, can I work part time and if so how much can I earn in tx without losing my SSI or SSDI

Hi 👋 i decided to sell some things on ebay while on supplemental income. I made alot of money since it was Christmas. Im i going to get in trouble for making more than i make a month.
Do you have a referal to a CPA that knows disability which can help structure a business
Hi Brad, I dont have the answer to that but we have information and live events on this channel Wednesday at 12:15. Stay tuned
When you say "20" is that twenty hours a week or a month? And, who, specifically do you contact at SSA if you can generate any income at all? Thx
week
interesting, it's easy for someone to just see the SGA and think that's the safe amount and completely miss the trial work period amount. if you work over the trial work period amount then that will have you lose benefits after 9 months?
what about taxes at end of year just file the e z form
Your tax responsibilities are outlined in your award letter
Is it 20 hour a week or 20 hours a month?
20 hours a week

Great question! Understanding work limits is crucial for maintaining Social Security benefits. The 20-hour rule often depends on program specifics, such as SSDI's Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) guidelines. What about writing a book and selling copies on Amazon? Will that be within parameters for SSDI?
Hi Luann
I have not written a book because I have chosen to give all the information away for free. Once can learn how to do the required steps on their own and if they don't want to do it on their own we have done for you options.
This applied to people getting, keeping and maximizing benefits
I don't think he understood that your question pertained to YOU. My question is the same. I have a feeling that you can only make under 970...which means we won't profit much from our books.

SSI is a need based program unlike SSDI thus it would be base on what you are allowed which I do not know you would check with SSA for this.
i get $972/month from ssdi, does that count toward the income your talking about?
no
What if you made 50k a year doordash 1099 . And I have write offs for gas and mileage . So what if I made it where my expenses are more then my income. Or I just owe like $200 in taxes will ssi see that I made to much money if l have write offs to hide my profit
As long as your monthly earnings does not exceed the SGA amount

The rules are different based on which tyoe of disability you receive. I would have liked to hear both. There are two types, SSDI (social security disability income) and SSI (supplemental Security Income).
Correct the video and regulation are for SSDI
What if you worked before and used your trial work period Thx
You can still earn and keep if you are under the SGA
@@TheDisabilityDigest what is the SGA
What if i eork for juat a month
If you work for just a month while applying for or receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), it's important to keep in mind the income limit. For 2024, you can earn up to $1,550 in a month and still apply for SSDI benefits. If you're already receiving SSDI, you can earn up to $1,110 in a month and still keep your benefits.
Remember, these amounts are gross if you're a W-2 employee or net after expenses if you're self-employed filing 1099. For more information, you can watch this video: www.thedisabilitydigest.com/how-much-i-can-make. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out. We're here to support you.

Will my monthly SSDi benefits be reduced if I get a Workers Comp award for 7 or 8 K? Many people get much larger awards and according to what I read a 100,000 award would only be a reduction of about 200 a month. I was hoping this means I'm in the clear.

What would happen to my California short term disability if one of my stocks raised 15-25% and I wanted to sell that stock can that affect my short term disability
Hard to tell Adrian. Try calling your insurance company and explain this question to them
@@TheDisabilityDigest ok sounds good it’s that I’m holding a stock that has gone up 23% in the last couple days and I want to sell but if I sell it’s only going be like 5-6k but my short term disability is worth 48k because I’m going go thru chemo starting next week for Hodgkin’s lymphoma it would suck to lose my claim over a 5-6 k
What about doing 1099 work. Is that a no no ?
As long as your are earning below the SGA
This may be Potentially an odd case, What happens if a person on SSDI - age 63 - I think their retirement is at 67 - - and they have accepted employment income over the level allowed-- Since they are so close to full retirement - will the same rules still apply - - And what if they max out the nine months - - or Unable to continue working before retirement as a result of illness will, they need to get an attorney to have their benefits resumed?
With ageism so prevalent, it would be difficult for a 66 year old to obtain employment
*note, the individual is under continued medical care. And, hopes to continue employment after retirement dateline.

How would things like Twitch work? I just got my disability and make far less than what my bills are putting a hug financial burden on my GF as she has to cover my shortcomings on my portion. I started streaming on twitch (have done so 2x the last couple of days). Say I start to build and can become an affiliate and .ake money. However all im doing is smoking my medical canabis and playing videogames online. What if you are on Permanent Disability and get income from housing investment years ago?? Are they going to tax the extra income?? Other problems??
That I am not sure of Mike - Elle
Nope. So far so good cause they would have penalized or taken it away already. Real estate investing is what you pretty much stated in that sentence. Just don’t do any physical labor to earning that money.

Can you make $970 after trial work period ends on ssdi

Can I receive Workers Compensation and Disability benefits?
Yes, but consult your work comp attorney because certain language is required to be in your worker's compensation award letter so that your award is amortized over your lifetime resulting in only a small amount offsetting your Social Security Disability back benefits
I heard from my disability lawyer who’s been doing this for over 30 years that if the amount is under the monthly SGA of $970 for 2022 then you don’t need to report it to the Social Security Administration because it’s under the monthly SGA allowed amount and not considered “work”. Is this accurate?
Every award letter I have reviewed states that you do need to advise that you are working
i report my pay stub on line ssi website... but make sure you earn under 970
