This guys is a legend! I listened to the record chris mixed from Escape The Fate, and I cannot stop listening to it. The band is great and all dont get me wrong. But chris has this magic, so to speak, in his mixes that just sound exactly how they should and at their maximum quality. I'm a mix engineer in LA working in television, and chris' mixes are by far the best I have ever heard. I keep racking my brain to figure out alot of chris' mix techniques and at what parameters he sets his gear at:D
Get a loudnessmeter. Take a soundwave. And set it to o db. Now give the a full masterfader... Meter the loudness and set it to 85 db. Now you will have the same loudness for all your mixes.
Lol he's saying are we gonna have every element playing on the hook and verse or are we gonna drop some elements out and create a different texture via those options.
"Picked the lowest volume that you can take and dig in." That's a gem.
