Hakkapeliitta fans know what’s up! Nokian really brings top-notch winter performance with those tires. Definitely a serious choice for serious winter drivers! Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!
That's awesome! Dunlop SP44 - now that’s a classic choice! It’s amazing how those older models still hold a special place in the rallying world. Thanks for sharing a bit of rally history with us!
I have tried different winter tires over the years. Had Bridgestone Blizzak twice, but found they wore down too quickly so it was like driving on an all-season after a very short time. Currently have Michelin X-Ice which need to be replaced. They are great on snow, but don't like how they perform on ice. The name "X-ice" is very misleading. In the process of making a final decision on the Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded or non-studded instead. Does anyone have a recommendation on either one of these? The issue about studded tires is the "popcorn" noise which may become extremely irritating, although being able to stop on ice is ultimately important.
I have an older set of Nokian's R3's and they are great, have had them on for 5 years but it is time to replace them but just not sure which tire I will choose. Leaning towards the R5's this time but I will keep doing the research and see which one is going to be best for my driving.
@@browney218 Thanks for your reply! If you come across any suggestions doing your research, would love to hear more. I have to make a decision very soon. Leaning towards Nokian Hakkapeliitta but still not sure between studded vs. non-studded.
I've have both Bridgestone Blizzaks and Michelin X-Ice winter tires on my various cars and SUVs over the years and I've been happy with all of them. In my experience the Blizzaks tend to perform a tiny bit better in snow and ice, but the X-Ices tend to be a tiny bit quieter and perform a tiny bit better on dry and wet pavement (note the use of "tiny bit" rather than "little" because the differences in performance are really small).
@@Munda_Shehar_Lahore_Da @browney218 I decided to order the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5s, and will be getting them installed this weekend. Hope they perform better on ice than the Michelin X-Ice that I'm replacing! Will be interested to hear what you both decide as well.
Just got a new x3m competiton and wondering which set of winter tires to put on… Im really wondering between the nokian R5, the michelin x-ice and the pirelli scorpion… we get a lot of snow and ice here and im just not sure what is the best in terms of traction and safety.. any thoughts?
Congrats on the new X3M Competition-what a ride! For snowy and icy conditions, all three options are solid, but each has its strengths: - Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5: Exceptional on ice and snow, with outstanding traction and stability. It’s designed specifically for extreme winter conditions and offers a quiet ride. - Michelin X-Ice: A great all-around performer, especially for mixed winter conditions. It provides excellent ice and snow grip while also being durable and reliable over time. - Pirelli Scorpion Winter: Known for its balance between performance and safety, it’s a good choice for milder winters or for those who also want a sportier feel. If your area gets consistent heavy snow and ice, the Nokian R5 would be my pick for top-tier traction and safety. The Michelin X-Ice is also a strong contender for versatility and durability. Let us know which one you go with!
@@NewDayNewProduct Thanks for the advice, I have ordered the Hakkapeliitta R5. As I was advised the same thing due to our weather here by most of the people here. You just confirmed it for me! thanks again.
Absolutely! The Hankook i*cept evo3 really delivers great value for its price, with solid performance across dry, wet, and snowy conditions. It’s definitely a top choice for those looking for quality winter tires without the premium cost. Thanks for sharing your recommendation!
This is not a good tire comparison and you clearly did not "try them all". 90% of this video is just sales and marketing media lifted from the respective tire manufacturers' websites, and the final 30 second "conclusion" is media stolen from a legitimate tire review and doesn't even compare the same four tires you claim to be comparing in the main part of your video! Lame!!!

I always used Dunlop SP44 when rallying. That really dates me.
