Running bucksweep to the right vs an under we swap our RG and RT. They keep their same responsibilities but now our RT is lined up at guard and has an easier down block on that plus or strong 1 tech. Vs 9 tech teams we kick 9s and send our wing to backer. So the RG lined up at tackle kicks the 9. We have a tag for this adjustment but works very well. We Like kicking a 9 tech with the guard opposed to down blocking with our wings
Traditional wing t teams will fill for him with the fullback. In the gun you’d have to read to run buck. In this specific look buck can be a difficult play if you cannot read the backside. Would probably gameplan to run more to the quick side.
We would run cover 4 to the 2 receiver side and cover 2 to the wing side. We also used a boundary and field corner so the conflict player is more like a safety.
To run the shotgun wing-t you must have a qb who can throw. If you don't have a qb who can throw, you must have one who can run. If he can't run, it might behoove the coach to run more traditional 3 back wing-t offense. Also, Coach Simpson mentioned at the beginning of the video that shotgun wing-t has the advantage of having 2 split receivers. In my experience running some of these shotgun concepts, you only have the advantage when your two receivers are better athletes than the two defensive backs covering them. Everyone seems to think just because the offense has the 1 on 1 match-up on outside that they, the offense has the advantage. If those 2 defensive backs are better players, the offense is in a world of hurt because now the defense can load the box to stop the run, they can lock down your receivers 1 on 1 and they can apply pressure on the qb.
@@80coach1999 Good answer. Many years ago (under center) we played a team like you describe. We could not win the 1 v 1 with our X and basically faced a 9 man box. Their FS was tackling the trap at about 3 yards. They were good. Now, with the twins, we can screen there more easily. And if they play the fast screen hard, it is pretty tough to play the Fox as well. If they can do that, work like hell to get them off the schedule! 🙃

You should have told my HS coach how hard scooping that backside 3 was... he EXPECTED me to get that done every time lol
Very tough block.
Looks really good on the board....
🤘
If your QB wasn’t a good runner, how would you handle the backside 3 and 5 without the Steal call other than formationally?
