I don't know whether Bob Hope was being playful or impatient but poor Audrey was terribly confused and she must have been anxious the whole time by the way she was flipping through the envelopes. Despite that, I just love her accent and how she pronounces everything with such grace and poise, especially when she announced her own movie Sabrina

I looked up other awards being presented in the 1950s and the announcers of the nominees are usually in another country where they say the nominees (Audrey was presenting from London) and then the host announces the winner, so Bob was just being told what to do.
