  • The point of money is to make life easier. To give you security, comfort, and the ability to do the things that make you happy.
So if you’ve made enough to take care of that for life, you can just stop making more… right?
Retiring early is a dream for many, but what happens when you actually do it?
In this episode we explore the story of two guests who did just that, though they came about it in different ways.
Our first guest, “Ryan”, made over $20 million after selling his business, then decided to step away from working and enjoy his money. “Jeff” however, made his money in a series of smaller sales and soon realized he had accumulated enough where his investments outperformed his work income.
Since retiring, both “Ryan” and “Jeff” have gone through similar stages of appreciation, loss, and rediscovering purpose in their lives.
In this episode, we explore the ups and downs of retiring early, how much money they have that allows them to live off their investments and what they do with it. They’ll tell us about the external pressure to start something new, how they dealt with the feelings of loss, and what they do with their time now.
Check out Ryan’s blog After The Exit.
This is Moneywise, a podcast where host Sam Parr is joined by high-net-worth guests to explore exclusive insights into personal finance and lifestyle tailored for other high-net-worth people, or those on their way. They'll get radically transparent about the numbers, revealing things like their burn rates, portfolios, and spending habits.
    Who is Sam Parr?
Sam is a serial entrepreneur and the co-founder of The Hustle, which he sold to HubSpot in 2021. He's also the co-host of one of the world's top podcasts for entrepreneurs, My First Million. Known for his insightful business acumen and candid communication style, Sam Parr continues to be a prominent figure in the world of media and entrepreneurship. Sam's newest and biggest venture yet is Hampton, which he co-founded in 2022.
This podcast was made for the Hampton community, a private, highly-vetted, peer membership community for founders and CEOs of fast-growing, tech-enabled startups.

Love this podcast. So cool to focus on people who sold a business. I‘ve been early retired for 6 years now and struggle with exactly the same issues. Subbed! 🙌🏻

Please do more. This is a fantastic niche you are in ie focusing on how UHNWIs make and spend their money. The podcast is informative and entertaining. Your questions are excellent. It focuses on real world wealthy persons experiences / issues. Very helpful for people who are on track to be in that position in the future.

Great pod, but the guest are not really anonymous, it’s obvious who they are, if they truly want to be anonymous maybe use actor voices.

I LOVE this podcast @SamParr. I'm a mid 20s Kiwi working in Finance looking to FatFIRE in 30s and this is EXACTLY the type of content I'm looking for. Literal goldmine of content. Thanks so much for putting this stuff up.

Maybe I’ve built a character in my head from watching mfm 3ish years, but this feels super corporate. You don’t seem excited to talk to these folks, this seems like it is a job to promote Hampton. This makes me ask myself “does Sean actually carry MFM?” Which i don’t think is the case. This is content category is something people want to hear, and maybe that alone will carry this project, but here is no juice. This is coming from a huge fan.

Hope you’re reading the RUclips comments. More please. I want to hear a come back story, someone who has failed time and time again only to hot it big and cash out when it could easily have been the end. I want to hear stories from people who lead very simple but fulfilling lives in spite of money. I’d also like to hear stories from lottery winners who start businesses and succeed.

I look forward to these episodes, but I'd like them to be less produced and more conversational, like MFM. That doesn't mean copy MFM, but good conversations never go out of style.

One of the guest has a very characteristic voice - I'm pretty sure people listening to MFM will know who he is (i.e. not so anon).
    Another great episode.

Love this content. Way to get these people to be willing to share the details of their life. I love the, 'whats your spend/burn' question. Seems like 50k a month after tax is the sweet spot for a lot of your guests.
I do wish you would have probed a little more on how he went for 300-400k a year to selling for 30 million. It was a huge jump in the timeline of his story.
