Rome -- More Images -- Episode 04: Meow! The Cats of Largo di Torre Argentina

Meow! Did you know there is a cat refuge in ancient Rome?
Hello everyone. This is Fr. John Wykes, OMV, with more images of Rome. Today we visit the Largo di Torre Argentina. Here you can see the ruins of ancient Roman Temples and gaze upon the spot where Julius Caesar was assassinated. You can also see plenty of cats - they live here! It is the Torre Argentina Cat Shelter, founded in 1993 for stray cats. Adoption programs and sterilizations are part of the shelter’s activities. Some archaeologists don’t like the cats roaming the ancient ruins, but these felines are protected by law - guaranteed to live free and safe. In fact, this is officially called a “no-kill” zone for cats, which is interesting given that Julius Caesar was killed at this very same location. The cats are fun to visit - and fun to watch.

Qui puoi vedere le rovine degli antichi templi romani e osservare il luogo in cui fu assassinato Giulio Cesare. Puoi anche vedere molti gatti: vivono qui! È il Cat Shelter Torre Argentina, fondato nel 1993 per i gatti randagi. Programmi di adozione e sterilizzazione fanno parte delle attività del rifugio. Ad alcuni archeologi non piacciono i gatti che vagano per le antiche rovine, ma questi felini sono protetti dalla legge - garantito per vivere liberi e al sicuro. In effetti, questa è ufficialmente chiamata una zona "no-kill" per i gatti, il che è interessante dato che Giulio Cesare è stato ucciso proprio in questo stesso luogo. I gatti sono divertenti da visitare e divertenti da guardare.
