I'm at 189.5 hours into this game and have two achievements left to do, but they're obviously the most time consuming achievements. Infinity isn't even the mid-game. That's EARLY early game. I started playing the demo about a week ago so I decided to come back and watch this again. Matt has it easy with auto buying and in game purchases that do not exist on the demo.
This game is so great, one of the best idle games on the App Store and it’s only just out. It looks pretty bleak but it is got loads of different elements that different enough but keep the same mechanics.
Glad to know this game is getting more recognition I’ve played this for nearly a month and reached very high areas but still FAR from the end as at my current area reaching infinity in under a second avg then highest infinity points in one go 1.2e136 in that month and it would still take me YEARS NO DECADES to finish the game at this rate But the game is cumulative so maybe a few months away
Interesting fact you cannot reach infinity Because even if you get infinitely close to infinity it you will still have to go infinitely more, this is because infinity is not a number but rather every number is infinity, even 1 is infinity because it can be divided into an infinitely smaller number
Mhm, but in this game, infinity isn't "infinity", it's 1.79×10^308 which is 2^1024, a.k.a. 2×2×2×2... with a length of 1024, and if infinity actually was infinity in this game, then no matter how hard you try, you could never actually reach the number, making infinities and eternities impossible to reach.
Perceptive of infinity: If you keep moving a ball half way to the wall, over and over, it would never touch the wall (if other forces, such as gravity, were not involved) It would get very very very close over time, but would not reach it. Singularity would be that the ball is the wall.
Although you cannot reach infinity, you can easily visualize infinity using the sterographic projection from the circle S^1 to the real line. Then infinity (as well as negativeinfinity) is identified with the north pole of the circle. Start from the open interval (0, \infty), we can map it to (-infty, infty) using the natural logarithm, and applying the inverse sterographic projection will map it to the circle minus the north pole. I would guess the progress bar in the game is doing the exact same thing. As you move along the positive real line, you are circumventing the circle once starting from the north pole. Give it a bit of imagination, you will find that your progress will slow down drastically as you keep approaching the north pole (and hence you will never reach the north pole).
He is probably never going to finish this game, but it has 120 acheivements and based on my own progress without spending money, reaching eternity took 12 days.
Matt, if you decide to play some more, please look into the settings. There IS an engineering notation. Makes everything easier to compare, and the numbers will get so huge (mine at e50k-ish and I'm still early at the endgame) iirc at e308 the game will switch to scientific notation anyway. At some point, the animation will flicker so much you may want to turn on Reduce flicker. Tinker around the settings. But yeah, it may be wise to get out now while you still can 😂
I love this because it's not a GAME game, it's a tool to teach about exponential growth and the concept of infinity. also i kinda wanna play it because my brain loves number go up.
2:57 Normally i call out ALL your 33s, and in this video there has to be some, but as a bonus.....lol....right here you have 138 and 13. Of course zoomed in by accident
2*1 = 2 | Which should we upgrade by 0.01? 2.01*1=2.01 2*1.01=2.02 It's always best to upgrade the lowest number. Of course, this doesn't take time into account, with the incremental increases.
I got into this game thinking it was like the other upgrade games. Be done in a couple hours. I have now spent an ashamedly long long time playing this. Got to infinity thinking I was done. Turns out that’s just the beginning. Fun game.
RCE clearly completely skipped elementary school arithmetic and forgot all about the associative property of multiplication, but he's also not entirely wrong that buying the further right numbers is better, though not for the reason he's saying. The premise of the game is that you multiply all the numbers on the top row together, and that is the multiplier that determines how much money you make. Let's simplify this to 2 numbers on the top, and lets call the first number A and the second number B, so the money you make is being multiplied by AB. When you upgrade a color, you add 0.01 to the multiplier. Lets say you upgrade A, so the multiplier is now A+0.01. The amount of money you make is now being multiplied by (A+0.01)*B, which can be expanded to AB+0.01*B. Or, in other words, the new multiplier is the old multiplier plus 1% of B. Therefore, the bigger B is, the more value you get out of upgrading A. TLDR, the smaller one multiplier is relative to the others, the more value you get out of upgrading it. So yes, he was right when he said he was getting more value out of buying the ones on the right, but not for the reason he said.
Matt, I'm calling your Professional Engineering License into question. In a game about simple mathematics, how did you not know that multiplication is commutative?? That means: A * B = B * A Changing the order of multiplication does not change the outcome. Also, you should know from Calculus that Infinity is Infinitely large, meaning any % of Infinity (except 0%) is also Infinity? Making the premise of the game actually mathematically impossible with finite numbers. Only with Infinitely large sets can we compare sizes of Infinity. For example, The "Natural Numbers" set is infinitely large, but it is still a subset of the set of all "Integers", meaning the set of "Natural Numbers" is a smaller infinity than the set of "Integers" which is also a smaller infinity than set of "Real Numbers" and so on.
I remember when I had an Elgato, even if you missed something recording, if the software was on you could scrub backwards and record what had already happened after the fact.
We get a 0.13 bonus and ... 0.13 is how much we get added to our multiplier.... Cough cough 0.13 is how many laps/s you get each time you upgrade it, but close
(1 + x) * (1 + y) = (1 + x + y + xy) > (1 + x + y) (x is the current additional multiplier of color A and y would be the addition to either color A or opening up color B) so if you can open up a new color you should *always* go for it
I think it's this way: Left part - (A + x)*(1 + y) = (A + x + A*y + xy) Right part - (A + x + c*y) where A - current A color, c - parameter representing difference in cost needed for upgrade. As you see, we need (A + x) > c for new color to be better. Well, it doesn't matter anyway since we upgrading not the color's coefficient but its growth speed.
Lol. I spent WEEKS on the first infinity cause I didn't realize the promotion levels would reset and I wanted that "get infinity with all promotions below lvl 20" achievement 😂
I remember playing this game on Kongregate YEARS ago. Great fun and scratches the exact same itch, just not as visually pleasing as this game, now that I think about it.
Dear RCE, I love your videos but multiplication is not how you think it is with 3 or more numbers, since you think if you add to 3x3x3 a 1 to the last 3, then it changes the 27 into 3x3x4 which is 36 because it influences all the numbers, but 3x4x3 is also 36, and 4x3x3 is too, so you should make all the prices the same, since all the numbers affect all the other numbers. Hope this helps you Matt!

He is probably never going to finish this game, but it has 120 acheivements and based on my own progress without spending money, reaching eternity took 12 days.
does the engineer acually know, how multiplications work?
0:11 Ifinity!
infinity*
I find ity
Doing the hard work of making numbers big with flashy colors/lights/things so we don't have to! We thank you Matt!
Another bit of evidence that he's actually an architect

Normally i call out ALL your 33s, and in this video there has to be some, but as a bonus.....lol....right here you have 138 and 13. Of course zoomed in by accident
Shout-out to the editors for making a video about rotating circles fun to watch
You'd think an engineer would know how math works. The total of the multipliers is the same no matter what order they're done.

Cowabunga dude, so lets get it on
Reptiles against the fathers of the rennesance
saying infinity as affinity is kind of adorable

This video is so infuriating, Matt you’re an ENGINEER FFS, BEHAVE LIKE ONE OMG😭😭😭
10:30 Matt re-establishing mathematics
Affinity🤝Infinity
2*1 = 2 | Which should we upgrade by 0.01?
2.01*1=2.01
2*1.01=2.02
It's always best to upgrade the lowest number.
Of course, this doesn't take time into account, with the incremental increases.
Game: "Oh you reached infinity? What about infinity... +1 !?" lol
Ah yes, my favourite unit of circular motion: The Revolution.
I got into this game thinking it was like the other upgrade games. Be done in a couple hours. I have now spent an ashamedly long long time playing this. Got to infinity thinking I was done. Turns out that’s just the beginning.
Fun game.
I wish dev implement mini-game like that when the real game are loading.
That means:
A * B = B * A
Changing the order of multiplication does not change the outcome.
17:10 You didn't get that far as you didn't use the 3x time this time :D
The game just getting interesting after unlocking the Infinity mechanics:)
I remember when I had an Elgato, even if you missed something recording, if the software was on you could scrub backwards and record what had already happened after the fact.
Also, if you go to settings and press the drop-down menu next to notation, you will find engineering
0:22 infinity = ~10^308
what about 10^309
@@boonkgang6236or what about 10^308+1
@@boonkgang6236 bro that guys waffling
If you calculate based on the progress bar infinity is only a little less than 128k
Did you get a new mic?
"25 million?! That lots of million like 25 of them"
You don't say Matt 😂😂😂
I became addicted to this game within a week of gameplay
It’s one of my favourite games
Suggestions. You should let this game run for 4 hour one day just for the fun of it
Sad time for engineers
16:08 is it just me or the math is wrong again, since 45 minutes is a time, the total is out of 60, hence it should be 45/60*10 ~ 7.5 minutes
Been playing this for a bit now. Just about to unlock Stars and Eternity. Does indeed get pretty addictive.
Every time I see his math skills, I feel ashamed as an engineer
I can't wait for the next episode (knowing what comes next) i can imagine the title being something like "break infinity and beyond"
Day 1 of asking Matt to listen to that guy on day 422
We get a 0.13 bonus and ... 0.13 is how much we get added to our multiplier....
Cough cough 0.13 is how many laps/s you get each time you upgrade it, but close
That "quick math" insert made me laugh so hard I tore my lip
(1 + x) * (1 + y) = (1 + x + y + xy) > (1 + x + y) (x is the current additional multiplier of color A and y would be the addition to either color A or opening up color B) so if you can open up a new color you should *always* go for it
I think it's this way:
Left part - (A + x)*(1 + y) = (A + x + A*y + xy)
Right part - (A + x + c*y)
where A - current A color, c - parameter representing difference in cost needed for upgrade.
As you see, we need (A + x) > c for new color to be better.
Well, it doesn't matter anyway since we upgrading not the color's coefficient but its growth speed.
Good boy, putting it all on red. That’s my boy!
Hey Matt what should I bet on? Matt: 11:48
Alright!
Lol. I spent WEEKS on the first infinity cause I didn't realize the promotion levels would reset and I wanted that "get infinity with all promotions below lvl 20" achievement 😂
I just saw a trailer for the game "Get To Work", by Isto Inc. It looks right up your alley, and reminds me of Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy.
Petition for Matt to play prestige hell known better as Antimatter Dimensions (and reading all antimatter puns in in-game news)
I remember playing this game on Kongregate YEARS ago. Great fun and scratches the exact same itch, just not as visually pleasing as this game, now that I think about it.
"Always work from the bottom down" - "engineer" 2024
Dear RCE, I love your videos but multiplication is not how you think it is with 3 or more numbers, since you think if you add to 3x3x3 a 1 to the last 3, then it changes the 27 into 3x3x4 which is 36 because it influences all the numbers, but 3x4x3 is also 36, and 4x3x3 is too, so you should make all the prices the same, since all the numbers affect all the other numbers. Hope this helps you Matt!
