I say this because of the fact that in most of these videos, the protagonist has some sort of 'demon' side that takes control or combines with them. This could've happened to one of the background characters, but the demon wouldn't take control because it isn't bold enough to ask.

I would also take original out of your title because it's not this is one of the trope ridden things I have ever seen, tropes aren't bad but you should at least use them in an interesting way.
