Damián Ortega | Casino @hangarbicocca

“Casino” is the first solo exhibition in Italy by Damián Ortega (curated by Vicente Todolí), who for the past twenty years has been one of the most interesting artists on the contemporary scene. In his work he explores the idea of sculpture through the use of everyday objects, subverting their meaning. The exhibition offers a sweeping overview of the artist's work, with sculptures, installations, performances and films given a unique touch by the interaction between the nineteen works and the space of the HangarBicocca "Shed".

I'd like to underline two things:
1st On artist's book you've written that in 2002 is the year which the artist create the triology Cosmic Thing and this coincides with the last year of prodution of VW beetle worldwide. This is not true because last beetle produced worldwide has been in the 2003 at the end of July, in Puebla Mexico!
2nd The beetle '89 I've noticed it fits elements from late 80ies for sure but the chassis number stamped (117 2 084 342) is for any dubt a chassis from mode year 1977. So wondering if the artist dismouted that car and put orginal pieces or may be some parts are not part of the original installation.
