Bobby, you sir, are a LIFESAVER!!! THANK YOU!!! I was about to spend money on one of these when I really shouldn't (The "Gotta' have it as a fan" syndrome)... You just spared me A LOT of misery!
This isn't my sort of thing but even though I won't ever buy one I still find it satisfying to get the guided tour. Thanks for the review Bobby and thanks for your bravery, Robert.
This may sound super weird, but I've always felt really happy with how these Premium scale figures are priced. While there's companies out there selling still statues a little bigger than this for thousands of dollars, I always felt grateful that we have ThreeZero here to offer highly accurate, highly detailed figures at this size and weight and complexity, for only around ~$500. The way I see it, without them, we'd have absolutely no bridge between the small MP transforming figures for a couple hundreds dollars, and premium display collectables that run for ~$2,500. The difference, for me at least, is one of them I have hopes of saving up for with time and wise spending, whereas the other I will never even think of buying, EVEN if I could afford it.
surprised we got so many versions of this design. he was only on screen for a couple minutes. I'd wait to see how the next movie turns out, and how he looks in that, before interesting so much in a minor version of the character.
These threezero figures are amazing looking, but so damn fragile. I bought the DLX Soundwave a while back and just taking him out of the plastic tray as carefully as I could one of the front hip skirt pieces cracked off. I was gutted. It sort of goes on still, but if I look at it too hard it will fall off. I can only imagine some of these fragility issues are only compounded when these things are scaled up so large. Great job on the review.
I felt that way when I got Premium Scale Megatron, just because he has so much dang plates and panels. This premium Optimus definitely looks better to me concerning that, just because he's a lot more tightly built.
This is a super cool looking and figure but it needs soft kid gloves to handle it. Also what would be the better superion? The dream star version or the new fanstoy version. I like the alternative heads and stand options of FT but the style and vehicles of dream star I was also like
Stunning looking figure, but for the price those QC issues are not acceptable. Hopefully the warranty is needed, but it shouldn't really have been needed.
It REALLY gives me Impossible Toys vibes. If you look at it it could break. Imp. Toys out of the box the glue didn’t work or dissolved a year later. Too bad for the fragile Prime bits they didn’t use more magnets. Magnets are nifty.
This is definitely one of my favorite Transformer figures, period. I have zero QC issues with mine. That said, I agree the gun is sub-optimal, and the Earth Mode stacks pop off way too easily…so I’m keeping mine in Cybertron mode. This thing is really just a highly possible statue, and looks gorgeous in a display. It’s not perfect, but it’s well worth the price to me. I’d argue it is actually too inexpensive if you compare it to figures like Hot Toys Hulkbuster. Optimus Prime looks just as awesome in my display as Hulkbuster, but costs half as much…plus Prime us way more possible than HB. Those are my thoughts as an owner, and I own every ThreeZero release from the Bumblebee movie. PS: if you want to review a GARBAGE ThreeZero figure(s) review their Jetpower Optimus Prime. I’m a hardcore ThreeZero fan, but this set just SUCKS and cost about the same as the Premium Optimus Prime in this review.
Huh. That sucks.Everything on mine functions as it should. Joint fluidity I was particularly surprised by given the size. He poses with ease. I do have some problems with the Earth mode stacks popping off occasionally but wanted him in Cybertron mode anyway. Outside of that, this figure is absolutely jaw dropping, a joy to handle and a real centrepiece. This copy Robert got is a real lemon. Unacceptable of course, and I hope given the number of issues a replacement figure is on the cards.
This figure is pretty awesome looking. However, the price is too high for me and the size is a bit too large for my preference. I have the dlx version as well as the magnificent mecha version and I am quite content with them at the moment. But for those who want a nice centerpiece in the collection with good presence, but can’t justify the yolopark or prime1studios version, I definitely see the appeal here.
Thats horrible. Must have been a different builder for mine . Its damn near perfect. Im not having any of those tolerance issues with the joints at all.
ThreeZero has really done a number on themselves when you explained customer service issues and the quality of how it was received, that's disappointing. That really overshadows all the detail and positives for me. I can understand that a Big Mac isn't going to look like the Big Mac on the menu because the one you're getting is made by a teenager and it's edible but the same argument can not be applied when spending money on a collectable. I hope Robert gets a good resolution with his warranty
Zero (or very minor) issues on mine. I highly recommend it. I’d argue it is way underpriced for what you get. This could easily be a $1K figure if it was sold by Hot Toys.
Defintly NOT worth the money...with all the qc issues and bits falling off it if you so much as look at it this is NOT something to be posed other than the first time you pose it...do yourself a favor and buy a statue instead.
Pre posed fun holding hands always. And this scale is just too much. Threezero is close to perfection with their other 2 scales. And one of the best companies out there for quality, detail and articulation. Just stay away from this scale.
I’d argue it is underpriced. Go compare it with Hot Toys Hulkbuster that costs over $1,100. Both look equally menacing in my display, and the Optimus Prime is 50% cheaper and mine has zero manufacturing issues. Also, as I’ve stated multiple times in this discussion, if you buy your ThreeZero figure from Sideshow, you’ll have awesome customer service if you have any issues out of the box. I buy all my ThreeZero and Hot Toys figures from them.
@@damien5748 I not only collect Transformers, but I extensively collect Hot Toys, Fans Toys, Soul of Chogokin, etc. ThreeZero makes a top notch product with better paint than Hot Toys (which is considered the industry leader). If you live in the United States, then just buy through Sideshow and you’ll never have an issue with the warranty. Hot Toys have many of the same issues- needing light glueing, things falling off, LEDs failed out of the box, etc. I might say Hot Toys is ever so slightly better up with QC, but it’s not by a huge margin. And when you see what Hot Toys charges for their Iron Man figures, you see what an incredible value ThreeZero is in comparison. Plus, to me the LEDs are kind of silly. Who goes up to every figure in their collection and turns on all the lights, and then after looking at it for a few minutes turns it off? With as many figures as I have, by the time I had all the LEDs on, some of the batteries would probably already be drained out. Honestly, I don’t even put the batteries in as I don’t want to risk a battery leak. Id prefer they just skip the LEDs completely and make the figures less expensive. The figure in this review is clearly a dud. That can happen. It sucks, but if I ever get a dud like this, I’ll just have Sideshow replace it.
@@GrimSRT8 i wouldnt know as even when i was collecting i never owned a hot toys or three zero product...im sure they are generally fine but this particular one seems off....maybe its just this particular example....who knows......and not that it matters but im in Ireland.
@@GrimSRT8 had a very BAD expierence with fans toys "Forager"....their take on an MP "Kickback"...bought it at a convention in the uk back in 2016 and after i got home to ireland it only lasted 1 week before it BROKE in 4 different places (not to be confused with braking in 4 pieces at the same time)....i ended up throwing it in the bin as thats all it was fit for and i SWORE i would NEVER EVER buy another fans toys product and i stuck to that.
I would love to see a picture in picture "Robert Cam" where he's watching Bobby handle the figure - more Grimaces than an 80's McDonalds kids party.
😂😂😂

Hey Bobby we missed you at TFCon Chicago this year
I second this!
Absolute masterpiece 👏 🙌 👌
Amazing review! Thank you
Awesome review Bobby!!
.....one of the last humans who live by "honesty is the best policy" ...... Thank you Mr. Skullface!!!
It’s a truly beautiful piece, but for the price, I’m good with my DLX!
The stress you're feeling is palpable...

So was Boba Fett (on screen for just a few minutes)

Would you say this could scale well with 3.75” action figures for like a diorama? I’m not in to this but maybe someone else could be.
It seems more like a rough 6 inch scale, at least with Bumblebee in the same scale

Buy from Sideshow, then you’ll have great CS with any issue.

I can’t imagine paying that kind of money, and worrying if I’m going to break it anytime I touch it. 🤦♂️
DLX is cheaper and better quality

Man, ThreeZero needs to get their act together if this is how their premiere pieces come. Yikes.

Weak glue? This is a $500 dollar figure the words weak glue shouldn’t be in its vocabulary .
A not stable gun
Non working lights
And bad joint QC issues man not what you expect from a premium price item.

Warranty card? Forget that, auto refund just on the LED not working.
