The Song inspired me a new novel. It's about a living City, a perfect city , maybe too much perfect... And about an encounter that will be change the destiny and the future of inhabitants of this strange and "perfect" city .. here's the inicipt... (It's a work in progress) The perfect city 1. The faint morning wind stirred the blue velvet curtains while the day was still far from coming. He rolled over and over in bed, as if coming out of a lethargy, a pleasant temporary death ... He was brought back to reality by the merciless sound of the alarm clock; a croaking, unbearable sound. Slowly, without betraying any haste, he walked towards the bathroom. Cold water flowed over his body as equally cold thoughts flowed through his mind. He got dressed, clumsily tying his tie, looked at the reflection of himself for a moment, shrugging, turned and went out. 2. Routine. Take a crowded subway, go to work. He hadn't noticed it for a while, everything had become a sort of automatism, a pagan ritual for its own sake, but that was fine. To him who had never been a lover of novelty, of chance ... In that routine he found comfort, security. The city gave him security. A perfect city. The automation plan decided by the municipality a few years earlier seemed to be the pinnacle of precision. No delays, no crimes, no problems. 3. Blue and violet flashes flashed through the little silver cables from building to building. Information, data, letters of love, of hate ... Everything traveled through that web, perfect. Inviolable. That network, managed by an unspecified artificial intelligence, had quickly become the fixed point of everyone's life. From big financial operations to just ordering a burger at Arthur's kiosk, everything ran through the net. 3. Commitment. The office was in turmoil that day. It was clear that something was wrong, but no one seemed to understand what. The technician hurried through the various terminals looking for a solution. One attempt after another. No success. Then something terrible happened. While trying to restart one of the main servers he was hit by a sudden discharge, there was nothing he could do. A tragic accident that shook everyone, but nothing more. In reality the episode disturbed him deeply, a few years earlier a dear friend of his had died in almost the same way, the memory was still alive, burning. He ran out, running to the nearby river. Tears flowed like water in the riverbed, from eyes of the same blue color ... 4. A new day.
