  • How to travel cheaply and easily around Egypt? Are the buses safe? (yes). I have been living in Egypt 2 years and have found buses to be the most affordable option that will take you almost anywhere within the country. In this video I show you what I believe to be the best company, Go Bus. I show you the Go Bus station 'Tahrir' in downtown Cairo, where you can buy your tickets, how much tickets cost, and a look inside the buses themselves.
    Welcome to the channel! My name's Gisselle, I'm a budget traveler and have been to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting 20+ countries, living for some time in Sydney, Australia as well as in Saigon, Vietnam. I am currently living in Cairo, Egypt and exploring all this beautiful country has to offer while visiting nearby countries as well. I am a lover of language and a culturally curious lady just making my way through life one day at a time. I live to learn, I love to travel and explore, try new things and meet interesting people anywhere and everywhere in the world. Come along with me as I solo travel the globe and discover fascinating new places, try delicious local food, meet lovely people, and share a moment in time on this beautiful planet, our Earth.

      I still prefer Vodaphone myself, but Orange is really good too. Still same opinion, basically 😅People usually prefer the winter months (Dec-Feb), and I love Egypt in winter, it's light jacket weather at night and early morning. November is good too though, all the way up to April. The summer is too hot. June July and August, don't. 😆Although it's good for swimming in the Red Sea in summer (in my opinion), that is it. Walking around or anything else is unbearably hot, irritating and you are dripping in sweat.

      Really! That's interesting that it worked, because I lived in AU in the past and have a bank card from there (debit) and it never worked when I tried to pay online for a bus with it. Another great video,Gisselle. I heard about Go Bus but hearing from you has put my mind in peace… Many thanks! I have a question about their route: Can you get off the bus between Cairo to Luxor? It's a long journey and it would be a great opportunity to visit some places along the way. I wish I had a bike like you :-) How to visit lesser known sites along the Nile with a low budget? Foreigners are not allowed on most of the regional trains, right? Most of the online information about public transport in Egypt is so out of date!

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  6 месяцев назад

      That's a good question, and one I am not entirely sure of. You can of course get off the bus from Cairo to Luxor (they make a few stops), and you can also book buses to different cities closer to whatever destinations you want to see, but then it's on you how to figure out how to catch another bus from wherever you got off to where you want to go next. If you have a lot of time and are looking for a spontaneous adventure, you can just wing it, take a bus out to the nearest place you want to stop, and then hitchhike out of there, or try and catch many local microbuses till you get to where you want to go. But it really depends on where and what you want to see, and nothing is certain or reliable. Foreigners are allowed on the trains as far as I am aware, but are forced to buy the more expensive tickets, and the trains are already more expensive than the buses. I've only taken the train once though, so I don't have a ton of information about that. It is tough to work out how to get to those far flung places on your own without spending a lot of money 😕

    Your content creation is commendable and immensely useful. Will you please give suggestions how to do budget travel from Cairo to Aswan and from Luxor to Cairo at night as Go bus is not connected to these cities and Egypt Train is charging 4 times the fare from Foreigners

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  6 месяцев назад

      I unfortunately have no idea how to get to Aswan if you don't want to take the train or fly. You are able to take the bus from Cairo to Luxor. I have heard of a local bus that goes from Luxor to Aswan, which I can tell you as best I can how to get that ticket, but it is local, so not sure you would want to do that. Buses go to and from Cairo to Luxor all the time though, that won't be hard to do. The bus from Cairo to Luxor takes around 8 hours. Let me know if you want the info for the local bus from Luxor to Aswan and I will tell you, but I never took it myself, this is just something another backpacker told me he did and he gave me the information. I rode my motorcycle to Aswan from Cairo so I didn't need take the bus.

    Thanks! Do the aero class buses run with similar frequency then economy class or are they significantly less available? How much stops during your cairo-hurghada trip?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  11 месяцев назад +1

      The aero first class run a lot less often, but you can check the website and see to get a better idea (link to their website in the description of this video). I think there are maybe 3-4 aero class buses in a day, but that's just a rough estimate. There were 2 or 3 stops during the ride for snacks and bathroom, each stop is about 15 minutes, sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit less, that really depends on the driver.

    is there toilet inside the go bus? thanks

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  8 месяцев назад

      There may sometimes be...? But even if there is, I wouldn't use it. I don't think most of them have a toilet though, that is one of the reasons they make the stops along the way, to let people use the bathroom.

    I hope the bus is at least air conditioned?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it is. Though the buses can be a bit of a hit or miss with that, sometimes they can be a little hot, otherwise extremely cold. The ride to Hurghada and back was comfortable both ways, but I took a bus to Siwa once that felt like a Minnesota winter inside the bus 😆 And another bus to Dahab one time that felt like the AC was working at 50% capacity so it was pretty stuffy. Just have low expectations and you won't be disappointed, come prepared for either temperature and you'll be fine 😅 Usually I think they are fairly comfortable temps though

    I want to travel from Cairo to Aswan overnight. Are there buses available for this route? Trains seem expensive.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  11 месяцев назад

      I am not aware of any buses, unfortunately I think the only option is local microbuses, the train, a taxi or private driver. The local microbuses could get you there eventually and would be very cheap, but would probably take forever and require quite a few transfers (and some knowledge of Arabic to communicate with the drivers as they don't speak any English)
      Edit: sorry I read Luxor to Aswan 😆 From Cairo to Aswan?! Your best option is the train. Buses don't go to Aswan as far as I am aware, the furthest they will take you is to Luxor.

      @@Gventures I am from India. Can I book a train from here online? I read that only Egyptians can book it on the Egyptian Railways website. I want to travel overnight from Cairo to Aswan on 1st October.

      @Gventures  11 месяцев назад

      @@RootedRealms I'm not sure because I only rode the train once and didn't buy my ticket online. But I know buying a train ticket is a lot more complicated than buying a bus ticket, unfortunately (and as mentioned, no buses going to Aswan that I am aware of, unless it's a part of a tour or something maybe). Just as with many buses in Egypt, buying a ticket online might not work for the train because they might not accept foreign cards on the website. Just try and see what happens, but it might just not work and that will answer your question. If not, you will need to buy it in person when you arrive to Cairo.

      Also, I will be staying in Cairo for a couple of days. Which area would you suggest to stay in which would be closer to the Egyptian Museum and Al Khalili Market? I checked some hotels in Zamalek but they were quite expensive.

      😆 Well I do what I can myself. Don't have the money to be paying someone. And I'm sure you will say if I hire someone I will get more views and hence have money to pay someone, but I also like being independent. Until I have money to throw around, I think I will just do my best on my own. I'm slowly improving I think 😆 Thanks for your input though ✌️

      Really? I've never been hassled while waiting for the bus. You do need to buy tea if you want to sit down on the chairs. It's a bus in Egypt, not a flight. I don't have high expectations so perhaps that is why I don't mind. If you want a cheap ride, it's good.
