I bought a 1970 F100 XLT ranger with 302 auto for $1500 a few years ago. It had sat in a barn for 14 years the previous owner sprayed it off and put it up for sale. I drove it home after diluting the nasty gas with fresh gas enough to get it running and a new battery and did NOTHING ELSE. Ran fairly decent for about a year and i sold it to a highway cop in the next county for $3500. Solid ol truck.

I always like the Ford FE engines. They are good engines if you maintain them. Most people fall sadly short in that department...As was evidenced by the fact that it was a gallon low on oil. I'd bet the missing radiator was full of oil when they pulled it.

You find a rusty one and swap engines only make shure the rust is on the outside of the engine.

Blasphemy... Chevy in a Ford. I must of been lucky with my '72 F100 360 that had been sat in a field in Oklahoma for 10 years before I shipped her to the UK, got her up and running in around an hour, idling rough but have since rebuilt the Carb and added Pertronix to the distributor and she runs sweet now. changing the trans cooling lines so I can run her up to temp to fine tune with Vacuum gauge and started on the floor repairs.

They actually made quite a few 390s, it's still salvageable.

@@MortskeRepair i thought it was a 360. That’s what your buddy Robert said.
Anyway, it still amazes me with how little you have to do to some of these engines to get them to run after 20 years. Very impressive

Nice looking truck too bad about the engine. My dad had a 75 f100 4x4 with the 360 and a 4 speed. Dad ended up needing a head job and the guy had a set of 390 heads and a 4 barrel intake and carb sitting on the shelf. 150 later the truck was back on the road. That was in the very early 80s. Dad had that truck for 20 years and it had 213,000 miles on it when it went to the junkyard. It still ran and drove. I broke the t-case plowing snow and dad wasn't putting any more money into it.
