    8:26 the silver bolt comes with the AMS downpipe? if so, why would AMS supply hardware that doesn't fit, gonna install this downpipe in a few weeks, just wanna make sure

    • @JohnnyGT
      @JohnnyGT 3 года назад

      I ask myself the same question every time I order parts.
      If you use a washer and a lock washer (which you really should to prevent the bolts from backing out) it might just clear, but I didn’t want to risk the bolt hitting the pipe and possibly digging into the pipe, before it actually tightened it down, so that’s why I just bought a bolt size I was comfortable with installing

    How important are torque specs in this application? Seems like a pain to get a torque wrench in there

    • @JohnnyGT
      @JohnnyGT Год назад

      In my own personal opinion, fuck the torque specs. I send it home with my impact where I can use it, and I tighten them as hard as I can by hand with an extended wrench while wearing impact gloves. Sometimes they still come loose, but the original bolts stay in place well after a few times of retightening.

    One of my 4 exhaust manifold bolts stripped, I was able to get the stripped bolt out (bottom right) but now I have to rethread the insert, in order to get the manifold out i have removed the downpipe huh? Im not looking forward the pain its probably gonna be

    • @JohnnyGT
      @JohnnyGT 3 года назад +1

      You may be able to remove the exhaust manifold without removing the downpipe by pushing the turbo down and wiggling out the exhaust manifold, make sure you remove the bracket that holds the downpipe to the block of the engine though if not it won’t budge.

    Hey. I’ve got a stock Evo X and about to do basic mods before I get a tune. So learning here, how important is downpipe as a performance mod?
    My plan is to drop in filter, boost controller and cobb access before heading to tuner.

    • @JohnnyGT
      @JohnnyGT 3 года назад +1

      I believe it to be a big improvement on air flow over the stock one, when you compare them side by side it’s easy to see why, the AMS one is much bigger. But of course, the mods will be more noticeable when they’re all together, intake, downpipe, cat delete, aftermarket exhaust, uicp, and lastly the tune

    • @Fizz826
      @Fizz826 3 года назад

      Do not get the Cobb accessport. They have no support for the Evo x anymore. And most tuners don’t really need it as a tool for tuning. My tuner uses OpenSource straight to the ECU. I only had an ETS intake, tomei UICP, ultimate racing cat back and it made 335whp and 325Tq on the dyno. If I install down pipe and high flow cat in the future it can have 50 whp more.

      The MAP investment manifold will make the power come on strong and smooth on the high rev range. Before it was running out of breath at 80mph..the manifold opens it up
