Blew my mind back in the day when it came out, was ahead of it's time for sure. Still play it from time to time on PC.

Games like these can age poorly, but this game is an exception, and it's very easy to pick up and play these days!

I love how they combat in this game is both stupid simple but also manages to be really satisfying

It's definitely a lesson in solid game design for that era, and the game eases you in quite well!

Both Riddick games are amazing. Butcher Bay is the better one in my opinion, but both games are two of my most favorite games of all time. I really wish they'd bring the games back for resale. Especially on PC.

Yeah I've heard this was the better game, but both are definitely worth playing, so I'll have to get the sequel at some stage!
It's annoying how these games get stuck on old systems due to licensing, 'cause not everyone can just play on Xbox!

this is one of the few games of all time with absolutely insanely tight , perfect pacing and progression. the loop never gets old.
I think it's like, the shower scene. where it's hard as hell if I recall, but you can take the lights out to different effect. I seem to remember that, I really want to go back and play it again when I have time.

Any issues I had with this game were easily made up for by a high level of care and thought into designing the world and action within it!

I loved this game in my teens, loved all the movies and this just felt like playing through a riddick movie

I hadn't seen the first two movies for years until recently, and it motivated me to see how this game was. Definitely not disappointed! Haha

Another great tie in game. Wolverine and X-Men: The Official Game, as well as The Bourne Conspiracy. Riddick and these are fantastic. Also the sequel to Riddick is great too.

Game is a Riddick story, literally; it is definitely not a tie in - it's adapted into a game and was never produced as a movie. I just remembered the game this title was bundled with was "Assault on Dark Athena" if I remember correctly (XBox 360).

Fair point, it's definitely the sort of thing that can be treated as either, and at least it's not like lazy movie games that tack on the films title and do something shit with it.. instead this game let's the audience know it is specifically doing something different, and it's a lot of fun!

@@THHDReviews I had fun with it. It actually explained, decently, how Riddick got the "Shine" night vision and allowed you a chance to play out what happened to him at Butcher Bay. Only those whom read the books or played the game know the details.

@@NOPerative it definitely fills some gaps, and the concept deserved a movie in itself, but with how well this game turned out it stands high on its own!

It's a tie in because it came out around Chronicles, it contains promo materials for the movie in the unlockable collectibles and it shares it's name with a specific movie in a universe that has differently named films. Why this game stands out is because it's the rarely seen good kind of tie in so I understand your point. But my personal categorization is way more simple and understandable: 1) it's good so I consider it a part of the universe/lore and you can call it however you want, or 2) it's a shitty tie in.
